Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

Skybet odds have moved out from yesterday's 1/12 to now 8/11, which is quite a shift ... albeit still the "most likely" outcome is a transfer, but only marginally from the other possibility of "stays at Benfica".

This is what I said yesterday

Chelsea and Benfica are not close to reaching an agreement for Enzo Fernández, and, at this time, the transfer looks complicated despite the offer of €120 million in six payments.

Chelsea continue trying to unlock the departure of the Argentine.

This is false, its 1 major payment and 4 smaller installements.

Veron is the only one i can think of. Outside of that we've had a few strikers (Crespo, Higuain, Di Santo) and then Cabellero

You could maybe argue Mascherano, different profile of "great midfielder" and can't really remember if he played much CB for Pool like he did for Barcelona later but still an excellent destroyer imo.

Losing Jorginho to a direct rival without securing a midfield replacement would actually be a disgrace.

Surely this means we're confident this will happen?

From all the reports it sounds like Rui Costa is the one that we can’t get through to negotiating.

Reason is Chelsea wants to pay 70€ million now and rest split to 4 years unevenly, probably due to financial planning by Chelsea.

Now as Jorginho deal is done, Chelsea will make Mr. Costa happy and agree to his asking.

Deal has been done, only talks now about the payment plan.

If it is just a disagreement over the payment plan you would think they could work something out. Perhaps Boehly first needs to wrap up a couple of player sales in order to balance books for FFP. If there is more money up front it won't fit as well with his 7 year plan in that respect.

That being said it feels as though we have hit a bit of a roadblock based on the way the story has gone quite today so I am not too confident at this point.

Yes its only the payment plan. Nothing else.

Rui Costas office must be absolutely packed to the rafters. There are literally dozens and dozens of people who seem to know exactly the situation in the negotiations. No wonder it's getting nowhere if they are spending more time keeping legions of Twitter based sports 'journalists' up to date on proceedings than transferring the player.

That sounds like its not done to me.

If that information is correct I would say the overall fee has been agreed, but the 2 clubs have yet to reach an agreement over the payment structure.
