Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Well. Good luck from here.

Funny fact...Chelsea has at this moment our two most hot transfers in history, Felix and Enzo.

Hopefully we'd meet in the quarter finals... wouldn't be ideal, but at least a sign we both went through.

Haja saúde! ✌️

What would be the type of reception Felix would get if that happens?

FFP was brought in by the European elite clubs to keep them at the top and stop upstarts like us gaining entry, it was never about saving clubs from themselves.

Hence why transfer fees and wages have sky-rocketed since it came in.

But if ever there was a club UEFA would ping under FFP it would be us.

Mind you Bent just retorted to Andy Goldstein moaning about us.. " you would swap Boehley for the Glazers wouldn't you" ?

Er, well, er, I'm , er ... It doesn't mean I want Boehley.."

"Yeah but you'd swap them for Boehley ....."

Yeah, but but er um um etc .

The video of this exchange is on YouTube. Terrific comedy.

I'm sure we were after a young Russian player and were trying to get a work permit for him..

I can't remember the details?

Arsen Zhakarian. He's got his thread on the rumours section. Last word was that we were waiting for his Armenian citizenship so we could bring him over although I'm not really sure if we're still going for him after the new board took over. Highly rated though.

It looks like the consensus is that Enzo is ready and to throw him to the fire straight away. My preference is to ease him in but not sure we have a choice as everyone is injured.

I wish Kante is healthy, then it will be so much easier for Enzo. He will have easy job off the ball, all he need to do is simple mop up duty.

The mental gymnastics and dodging of Bent’s question is comical

Romano reported that Enzo always wanted to go to the Premier League as his next destination, but he was very sold on the presentation the club gave him. I genuinely think Enzo only wanted us which is why he didn't wait until the summer.

Think he may be our "Guy" in midfield for this next era.

He was probably enticed at first but seeing the club sign Mudryk and Felix must have greatly boosted his interest. Then you add in Silva,  James and Kanté. Who wouldn't be excited in all honesty?

I don't think that's right. According to the UEFA Champions' League regulations, we can submit:

LIST A
maximum 25 players
minimum 8 'locally-trained' players (of which a maximum of 4 can be 'association-trained' rather than 'club trained'
minimum of 2 goalkeepers on list A, minimum of 3 total.

LIST B
unlimited number of players
born on or after 01/01/2001
must have been at the club for 2 years uninterrupted (or for 3 years including a maximum of 1 loan to an association club) since the player's 15th birthday

We can register a maximum of 3 new players on List A, providing we still meet the locally-trained players quota.

My interpretation of this is that we can only register three of Badiashile, Félix, Fernández, Mudryk, Madueke, D Fofana and Andrey Santos. The only players in the current squad (I think) who are eligible for List B are Lewis Hall and Armando Broja. Leaving out four of the seven senior signings should allow room in the squad rules for everyone already in it (plus we have lost Jorginho).

Listening to a question at the presser along the lines of who would be left out Potter seemed to make it quite clear that he'd be having a conversation with someone presumably about them being left out. It seems to come down to a choice between Felix and Badiashile and I suspect its Badiashile that will get the short straw.

Agreed. One would think that Mudryk and Fernández are picked almost by default (and by sheer force of price tag/publicity). While Badiashile has been excellent in the two games he's played so far, the lack of in-form forwards we have, and the number of alternatives at centre-back (Silva, Chalobah, Koulibaly, Fofana, plus Cucurella and Azpilicueta for emergencies/back three) probably make Félix the logical choice. In addition to that, it would be rather pointless to spend £9m loaning somebody for six months only to not include him in your Champions' League squad...

It might also make squad rotation a bit easier. Koulibaly won't be as pissed off at being [deservedly] dropped in the league if he's getting to start our higher-profile Champions' League fixtures.

EDIT: Correction to my initial post. We'd have to leave out one player (presumably Bettinelli in exchange for a List B-eligible goalkeeper) in order to fit everybody else into the squad. Something like this:

LIST A
1 Trevoh Chalobah (club-trained)
2 Ben Chilwell (club-trained)
3 Reece James (club-trained)
4 Mason Mount (club-trained)
5 Conor Gallagher (club-trained)
6 Ben Chilwell (association-trained 1)
7 Carney Chukwuemeka (association-trained 2)
8 Raheem Sterling (association-trained 3)
9 Kepa Arrizabalaga (goalkeeper 1)
10 Édouard Mendy (goalkeeper 2)
11 Thiago Silva
12 Kalidou Koulibaly
13 César Azpilicueta
14 Marc Cucurella
15 Wesley Fofana
16 Enzo Fernández
17 N'Golo Kanté
18 Mateo Kovačić
19 Denis Zakaria
20 Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
21 Christian Pulisic
22 João Félix
23 Mykhailo Mudryk
24 Hakim Ziyech
25 Kai Havertz

LIST B
1 Lewis Hall
2 Armando Broja
3 Lucas Bergström (goalkeeper 3)

LEFT OUT
1 Marcus Bettinelli (List A limit)
2 Benoît Badiashile (new registrations limit)
3 David Datro Fofana (new registrations limit)
4 Noni Madueke (new registrations limit)
5 Andrey Santos (if eligible at all)

Would this be solely for the the round of 16 ties with Dortmund? Can we register more of the new players and unregister others if we move on to the quarters?

You listed Chilwell twice there (2 & 6) and I believe Mendy is out for the season with that surgery? Thus leaving Betinelli out is a risk considering Kepa also had some injuries. Though if Mendy is indeed out for the season then he's the one left out and problem solved. Maybe even Kante (unlikely) or Pulisic gets left out considering their injuries.

I think we should definitely have Badiashile in there somehow, especially considering Fofana's availability and KK masterclasses so far. Leaving Felix out would be a major blow and probably ruin our chances to sign him permanently, but that defence without Badiashile has been disastrous.

Tbf if we're forced into playing Bettenelli we're f**ked anyway.

I think that's one of most reasonable Andy Goldstein has been to be fair.

The arsenal fan needs locking up though, deluded. Thinks there's a player just as good as Enzo in one of the ",favellas" in London

I think 2 was supposed to be Loftus-Cheek.

That type of rational which deluded Arsenal fans for years that Wilshere was a prodigy.

Over the entirety of that video, yeah he’s not completely unreasonable. Just the point where Bent calls him out about how he’d take Boehly over the Glazers and then he gets caught with his foot in his mouth gave me a laugh.
