Mykhailo Mudryk signs for Chelsea

Forget last season altogether. Within 2 days of Pochs arrival, he knew exactly what was wanted of him, and how Poch wants him to go about it. Once the first goal comes, the pressure will be off, and then we can see what he showed in preseason. I see his "ceiling" as being off the chart. Somewhere down the line i expect his price to be considered a steal.

Blistering pace, phenomenal close ball control, just still over anxious, so heavy touch when trying to round defenders, a goal or 2 will sort that out. Not afriad to shoot with either foot as well.

I can't lie, I want to like the lad and I feel like there's potential there but he does my f**king tits in at times. What a terrible performance that was, whenever you need him he's just not there is he.

This is a player severely lacking in confidence. The move to the bigger league has probably come to early in his career. Dare I say, find him a good loan for a year and re-assess.

I think we spent too much to justify a loan, I think the best thing to do to raise his confidence is to bring him on in matches where we sealed the game and start him in cup competition where we have lower opposition. Once he gains some confidence, we can slowly wean him into playing important games.

That is the probable way. As I say personally I’d ship him for 12 months to regain confidence, he looks every bit a player who has played just 50 games. He is on a 8 year contract so we reap the reward if a loan is successful.

Playing against 10 men as a wide player, surely you have room and time to do some damage, just don't think he has it for now. Think he could use a loan, although not sure if any mid tier EPL clubs would take him. Although a loan would be an admission of failure, he's on a 7 year deal and there are time to recover.

Signing a player for £62m & then loaning him out is just wild and bad business. You can’t expect other clubs to develop your players for you. Hypothetically you loan him out and he fails badly what then? We have seen this approach not work out with Pepe at Arsenal.
This is a prime example of the foolishness of the long term contract, whatever happens we are stuck with this guy for 8 more years on £97k per week. That is almost £40m in outstanding wages which I can’t see him walking away from.

£97k a week isn't unmovable wages in this day and age.

Even if you look at their 2nd goal, Mudryrk was failing to close down, he needs to play in a 433, his pressing is shocking and fundamentally he’s not showing tactical discipline. And this is WITHOUT even mentioning his poor finishing, touch, composure and everything else. Gordon in Newcastle’s opener (not City) was playing in that role but showing a lot of discipline in comparison. Mudryk has the physiognomy of Torres, same body language; there are no ‘real’ positive signs thus far aside from flashes and it’s been 8 months.

There’s just zero composure from him. Always 100mph.

Yep, he always wants to sprint into space, and that is all he wants to do. Problem is that there isn't enough room in the Premier League to do that. On a counter attack, he would be fine, but most teams sit back on us, so how can he possibly ever work for us?

This looks like a case of bad scouting. He's a bad fit for us. He would be a hit in Germany, it's all about running behind the defence.

Timo Werner vibes? Good at what what does but just not the right fit?

He has the same problem as many young players when they come to Chelsea and the Prem. They feel the pressure and mount way too much weight on their shoulders to be an instant success. He really doesn't need that pressure. He is a top talent and will deliver as soon as he has the focus. Look at his fearful eyes yesterday and you see he is not himself.

Pochettino has a job in his hands when these young lads are void of confidence.

I can see why he had teams after him but I don't believe he will reach that potential with us if I'm being honest. Hope I'm wrong but I feel he would have been better off under Arteta or even De Zebri.

That free volley he had around the 83 minute . Do we know if the pigeons are OK?

Looking back that was a difficult chance even though his technique was wrong. Jackson missed bigger opportunites, header from a few yards out and he totally miskicked Sterlings cut back but because he has a few good moments all that is overlooked.

Mudryk came on and put the ball on a plate with a cross along the 6 yard box but we had 0 presence there. If someone taps in that then outlook on his 45 minutes is seen differently.

Really Lampard shouldve been forced to play him in all those dead rubbers. This is the problem with raw players. They need alot of minutes. Realistically Mudryk needs to go out loan where he can play every week and fine tune his skills to compete here.

We have gone with developing high potential players ourselves, but they are going to develop unless they play. Mudryk has completed 1 90 since he moved, he has started about 5 games, and came off the bench 10 times.

Really isnt enough minutes. If we truly believe he is worth the money, then we should be giving him a long run in the team, in his best position, then we will have a better picture of whether we wasted our money or not.

To challenge for europe we need Mudryk and a few others to realize there potential.
