Mykhailo Mudryk signs for Chelsea

Featured Replies

Personally I’d have offered him out to a championship club like Southampton or Swansea for 6 months and agreed to meet his wage provided he played. Only way he will gain confidence is by playing , at present he simply isn’t good enough to start for us.

At Chelsea? No, I don't think so but I hope I'm wrong.

He needs to be at a Arsenal or City like team, even Brighton is fine, to develop into the potential he has. Those managers and teams are better fits for him than here.

Yeah I've mentioned as weeks pass this signing looks more and more pointless from both the club and player's perspective.

Think there is a good player there but we won't ever give him the run of games to develop in a season where we really need to finish in a Champions League place.

How can anyone write him off? let’s set a ground rule - last season doesn’t count for any of the players still with the squad. That was a mess in its own right.

How about no?

Last season does count for a lot, which is evidently clear from our first 5 games.

He needs a loan in my opion, no where near enough senior experience to be a starter for Chelsea.

I disagreed with this when someone brought it up last week but I honestly feel it might be the best way for him to build confidence without the pressure of an 80mil price tag

Imagine if Arsenal bought Mudryk and he had been slowly introduced in games where Arsenal were already winning, and there was loads of space in behind. He wouldve had a field day, and no doubt by now his confidence in front of goal would be much better.

Bad move for him coming here, where we have generally given him extremely sporadic starts, or we bring him on in games we are losing against packed defences.

I actually feel sorry for him.

If ever there was a case of a player setup to fail, its Mudryk here.

He has been poor....

But, fully agree that we have not done enough to manage him into the team and form.

- young lad, moving overseas for the first time, for a huge fee - that comes with so much pressure.

- Decent first game, but been unable to build on it or get a run in the team.

- Been thrown into a team, who at times have been shambolic. No protection for the lad

- Been taken out of the team at times, when we are crying out for his pace and directness.

It looks to me, that we have managed him all wrong. Picked him when he should be benched. Bench him when he should start. Put untold pressure on him when we should have been wrapping him up and easing him into life at Chelsea.

That said - he has been sh*t, and also done some silly things (twitter nonsense) which has not helped him.

I don't like writing young players off and I try to give anyone time because it can be hard to adjust to a new team in a new country but better players than this lad get released from academies every year and I don't mean lads with higher potential.  I mean 16 year olds who are better than Mudryk currently is.

He's fast and I think people are just hoping he can develop enough to maybe be as good as Adama Traore but I don't see him reaching that level he's a proper throwback to some of the lads I played with hungover on a uneven pitch not a premier league player.

Good job he's fast as he traps the ball further than some can kick it!

Bang on with all points, particularly the last point as well. I always have a feeling that he is a bomb waiting to go off when I see social media things from him.

What I’m saying is let’s not hold it over the heads of the players that remain and are here for the future.

It is simple.

His game is extemely raw. This is crazy for 100m player but he need to go on loan somewhere where he can hone his skill.

As it stands, we're not going to trigger any of the add ons so the fee is the £62m (€70m) we paid up front.

On the evidence to date mid you, even £20m would have been too much 🙂

Given this some thought. Honestly think he would be better served long term if we sent him to the under 23 development squad for 3-6 months. Needs game minutes, to work harder, and to learn how to play in a team. He won’t learn than with 10 min Premier League cameos.

If he fails to build after that, move on. Don’t have time for it.

I'll probably get pelters for this but he should be starting every game for us. He's had something like 9 starts for us and then the odd 15/20 minutes when we're losing against a team that's got every man behind the ball.

If he's still underperforming after an extended run of starts then I think it's time to consider what to do with him but he's been massively mismanaged by 3 managers since he's been here and if hasn't even been a year.
