"His mistake cost us the game", wow, just wow...

Might as well call a spade a spade 😎

If it had been Mount or the Cucumber that let him go you'd never hear the last of it.

And who is going to get the blame? Potter.

No he isn't but he had to be dropped from the squad to make way for the new players. Like I said it was realistically a choice between 1 of Mudryk, Fofana, Madueke out of the new players, or keep Auba. At this point it seems unclear as to why we signed Auba, but it is very clear that the club wants to get rid of him. Hardly a great case for including him in any matchday squad.

We had to drop a player from our squad but it didn't have to be Auba or a new summer signing.

It could have been anybody.

There's absolutely no reason to have dropped Auba given the makeup of our squad and lack of strikers.  It should have been Pulisic given he's not only injured but would be 6th choice at best if he was fit.

I don't even rate Auba but it's terrible management to name a squad with absolutely no strikers when we struggle to score goals and have multiple injured players in it

Our current goalscoring struggles remind me of similar challenges in 77-78 season. Where is Trevor Aylott when you need him? 😉

Two goals in two games think he last played in the 7-2 against Boro 🤣

I just want to qualify my comments tonight. I am frustrated by our Inability to score goal, I am unimpressed with Mudryk tonight as I hate silly little flicks that don't work instead of substance, and the players not Potteris at fault for leaving Enzo 1 v1 with their fastest player from a corner.

But this was a world away from the insipid gutless bollox we have been served up recently.  I might not think Potter is the long term answer but I think the majority of these players could be.

Yes I am frustrated but at least I was entertained tonight.

Mudryk was slow to react too to the break. He was stood next to Ademyi at the clearance. As it was cleared the gap was rapidly wide. Enzo should have taken him out in their half, once in a running race he was in trouble.

Not sure I agree that Enzo shouldn't have been the last man. If we were defending a lead I would agree but at that stage of the game, we were putting pressure on Dortmund. In a completely different scenario, Enzo being there could have been the key to us scoring with a long ball after the run of play from the corner. I think this was just a case of us being unlucky.

He's the best tackler in the team who wouldn't be in the box. Enzo was the right person but was poor by his own standards in preventing the goal.

Mudryk would have fouled and been sent off.

There were two players in front of Enzo, Instead of sensing a danger and stop counter attack, both idiots ran in other direction that left Ezo alone to deal with the counter attack.

This is definitely down to what Potter is coaching on defence.

Think Enzo is best partnered with a ball winner.

Definitely needs one alongside. Tonight from the start we saw a slight lack of pace, this will have been noted by other coaches.

Oh my god, it is the first leg, we will be ok at home I am convinced

Am the only one who is actually encouraged by this team and signings ? I don’t think we will do much this season  but I have a lot of hope for next

not sure Potter  is the right man long term,  some noise around Jose coming back but with this squad if I was Todd I would be talking to Ancelotti - he would get a tune out of Mudryk

The striker situation has been a problem we have not properly resolved since Diego Costa left. Giroud, Tammy Abraham, and Lukaku were all offloaded before the current owners took over, but would have offered more than Auba.

I really dont agree..What does Mudryk offer from a corner? You dont wont him in the box for his aerial threat. He isnt taking the corner. Might as well negate their counter attack by putting an equally quick player to sweep up.

Enzo edge of the area for long range shots, or to play a clever pass back in. So setup was wrong for me. Tuchel left Jorginho back on his own at time too, so it's not just Potter. We have been vulnerable to teams countering out corners for a few seasons.

Agreed on this season. This tie is still in the balance and we may yet get past Dortmund. But realistically I am not expecting us to qualify for next year's Champions League, either through winning the competition this season, or via a massive uptick in league form. I am hoping we see an improvement in results as the season progresses. But for now at least we are playing more entertaining football and creating some chances.

I don't even blame Potter, it was an isolated situation, they were extremely lucky that clearance went straight to Adeyemi's feet, and i don't think that Enzo getting the red card would've been any good for the team., in fact i think he managed the situation very well, but Adeyemi had the advantage there. In fact, i do think Kepa could've reacted faster when Adeyemi went full gear. But despite that particular play i think Chelsea could've easily won this game, there were too many clear chances that were squandered, and that's what really cost us the game.

Ha! Yes it does come across a bit daft. and it did occur to me but i couldn’t be bothered to correct/explain as I’ve had a few. Point is, for some posters it seems to be their sole purpose for being on here. Every single post is a variation of “potter out”. It’s even in their handles/names.

It is getting tiresome and it’s a good job many of these so called supporters weren’t around 40-45 years ago. These are the same people that wanted Havertz to replace Lukaku and look how well that’s working out for them.

Think we revert to a back 3 for this, could be the 4231 dont get me wrong but for KO football I think Potter will borrow the blueprint that has worked the best for us in recent seasons.

                                  Kepa

           Chalobah       Silva      Koulibaly

James            Enzo          Kovacic       Chilwell

                    Felix                      Mudyrk

                                Havertz

Or

                                  Kepa

James            Silva        Koulibaly           Chilwell

                 Kovacic                      Enzo

          Mount             Felix            Mudyrk

                               Havertz

Probably be my two picks if I was to choose for tonight. Could see Potter going with these or mixing it up and bringing Azpil into the starting 11 if he's trained well and looks up for it especially in a back 3 system, Ziyech could also start as could Zakaria if he looks fit.

Hope UCL magic is in full effect today and we see KO Chelsea form rather than League. Despite our reservations about GP so far we've performed better in UCL than prem weirdly considering his exp in the latter compared to his lack of experience in the former.

I say change nothing. Maybe Zakaria for Ruben if he’s fit.

We dominated them and defended well.

Or even Ngolo if he is fit by then?

Take a deep breath, some of our fast attacks were brilliant, Felix hitting the bar was unfortunate, KKs rocket a split second from going over the line, if we’d of deservedly won 4-0, Potter would be hailed the dogs.

I stated earlier in the match that Hakim was playing better than Mudryk, looking like a very young CR7, but the Vitriol at Havz is savage, I think he’s lacking confidence and realises it’s mostly on him to score.

Positives, James and Chilly add so much, thought RLC did ok, he looked goood with Enzo, love how Enzo ,wants to pass fwd first, nice crisp passer of the ball, Felix just impresses, Silva and KK didn’t look unduly troubled, overall a much better display if not an unfortunate defeat..🤔

The goal was unfortunate, but there's a reason we don't see goals like that often. With the amount of scouting data available these days, everyone knows they have a fast forward who stays up for set pieces, there has to be some sort of counter measure. This is the difference between win and lose at the top level, the small details.

If Dortmund plays for winning the tie and abandon their normal style, I don't see us score 2 goals , after all they couldn't be worse defensively than WestHam or Forest.

This is another point that needs to be said in Potter's favour.

Anybody that has ever been involved in football at any level, whether playing for Chelsea or the Dog and Duck, will tell you that no manager or coaching staff would endorse going 1 v 1 at a corner that we are attacking
