Last I remember, didn't you want Tuchel out too though? I can understand the people who backed Tuchel but don't like Potter because he isn't "elite" even though I don't agree. But it just seems like fans like you want every manager out regardless.

TT has his issues but he never had us in a mess like this and he actually had success in the basket too.

Things went south for him but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss him now.

We are in trouble under Potter.

I think I might stop watching our games until I read the news that Havertz and Cucarella have been sold or at least loaned out. They are so shockingly bad they can spoil any match.

That tonight was as expected, a tidier looking performance because they usually are in European games.

And another thing tonight that makes me so frustrated is that all the hype of Mudryk and 90 million quid, stealing from Arsenal, ambitions to win the Balon d’Or, etc, that made me think we’d signed a game changing, game wining footballer like Hazard was. What we actually have is a quick but extremely lightweight winger with absolutely no end product. Great if you like watching flicks that don’t come off.

You can’t praise a manager for losing a football game to Dortmund.

I mean it's not just exclusive to the Potter reign, even Jose we would praise if we lost/drew but he did his bit (for example that "19th century" football game Vs WHU).

TBH axman I have not been overly impressed with Koulibaly since he arrived, but bar one glaring error, I thought he was good tonight.

Be interesting to see if Felix and Mudryk justify the faith in them for leg 2.

Does anyone else feel Enzo should have taken the red to stop the goal or just me? I guess I just expect such things from an Argie lol.

We can only fit half the fans in

So asking for half the atmosphere is fair then lol

Not Mudryk's fault that his manager plays him as soon as he came here, I'm actually impressed that he built up some match fitness and didn't get injured.

Two wins in 14 games. Utter embarrassment. I

Under a so called 'great coach' too.....head scratching isn't it..although no one yet has ever explained how they use 'great' and Potter together in the same sentence.

They say the sign of good team is that they can dig out a victory when playing badly. Given Chelsea played well tonight and still lost they must be really bad.

Some have said Potter is not responsible for the missed chances but it is a fact that he is ultimately accountable for results. I'm sorry but I can't see any positives at the moment.

I don't see how a manager is responsible for finishing. A manager is responsible for chances, I get that, but if the players don't put them away is that really Potters fault?

His Brighton team just couldn't create chances, until the end when they started to crack it. But the problem we have isn't creating chances, it's finishing them.

Disagree. If not the manager, who is in charge of  the attacking pattern. 88th minute, we have a free kick 25 yards from goal. Enzo passes it 5 yards back to Silva. Silva looks up, only Koulibaly behind and not a single ball on in front of him.

Who is setting up the pattern of play. We have had 8 shots on target, almost all of which were literally straight down the middle. Enzo looked like the only player looking for corners. The others just try to hit the target.

With no natural striker in the side the movement and pattern is paramount. Ours is rudimentary and that is down to the management team.

I don't want to sound too negative because it was a proper game to watch for a change but if we don't sort this out by the weekend we will continue to either lose matches or draw at best. Mid table mediocrity beckons

He's still young and I think he can improve. Not comparing him to Ronaldo but he reminds me of a younger Ronaldo in the sense that Ronaldo used to be obsessed with doing tricks and flicks but as he got older aka his final years at United and his time at Madrid, he cleaned that out of his game and became more direct which made him a better player. I think Murdyk will improve as he gets used to what's expected of him.

So why the hell did we hire him? Can't get his team to create chances, can't get his team to score goals. Ridiculous to appoint a coach like that in a team already struggling to do both of those things.

It's ridiculous to think that a football manager in the premier league is incapable of coaching a team to score goals.

Can't see us scoring twice without reply at the Bridge and if we don't the Potter out chants will start and they won't be a whisper it will be the whole ground and the atmosphere for the rest of our nothing to play for season will be toxic.

Didn't you read the comments in this thread, mate? As long as there is progress he's not responsible for results.

Don't get me wrong, I understand about the 'project' it had to happen. But there has been absolutely no progress whatsoever under Potter. I can't see a shape, a style of play or anything that would suggest we are making progress.  ClearLake IMO have chosen the wrong PM for this project and I would guess it was down to ignorance and simply not understanding football this side of the pond.  I expect to see more misery being heaped upon us before the end of the season.

I would like to put myself forward for the manager's job. I can surely dish up the same abysmal performances but for a mere fraction of Potter's current salary.  And indeed, it would be a whole new learning process for me at it, but I am confident there will be plenty of apologists for me even on this forum calling to extend my contract until 2025 at least, as the miracle will definitely, 100%, dead cert happen, you just need to be patient and think positive.

What's the point for engagement on an online football forum....

Jesus wept 😆

Ha! Yes it does come across a bit daft. and it did occur to me but i couldn’t be bothered to correct/explain as I’ve had a few. Point is, for some posters it seems to be their sole purpose for being on here. Every single post is a variation of “potter out”. It’s even in their handles/names.

He has very little practice.  He had Danny Welbeck at Brighton.

Kepa - 7 - Another good game.

Chilwell - 7 - A bit dodgy in the first half defensively, but I thought he was our best player in the second half.

Koulibaly - 7 - Better today. Performs well as long as he plays deep and doesn't have players twisting all over and running at him.

Silva - 7 - Some excellent defending at times, especially in the first half when Dortmund were pushing.

James - 7 - Best game in a while. Wish he would play with this tempo more often.

Loftus-Cheek - 6 - Decent without being spectacular. Still too slow at releasing the ball the ball into attacking areas though, always wants that extra touch.

Enzo - 6 - Decent at times, always tries to make things happen.

Felix - 6 - Played a good game overall, but those misses killed us.

Mudryk - 4 - Trying too hard to make things happen. He's thinking too far ahead instead of getting control of the ball. Needs more composure. When he gets it under control, he's capable of pulling something off.

Ziyech - 5 - Came to life in the last 15 minutes, before that though, it was the usual Ziyech. One good ball now and again, but it was mixed in with his usual attempts at flair that never comes off.

Havertz - 4 - Poor again. Loose touches again, doesn't hold the ball up well, doesn't move the ball quick enough, weak and looked like he had lost a yard of pace today.

Subs:

Cucurella - 4 - Rubbish when he came on again. Still looking to play backwards too many times.

Mount - 5 - Nice movement at times, but largely ineffective.

Patterns yeah, that's an issue a manager has to work on. But tonight our patterns ran them ragged and we should have scored 3 or 4 goals.

But players finishing their dinner? Do you think Potter has just forgotten to tell the players to "aim for the corner"!?

Thought we played really well.

Only issue I have with Potter was leaving Enzo last man on corners against statistically the fastest player ever in the Bundesliga. Surely Mudryk shouldve been there or we compensated with an extra man.

Cant pick out individuals for criticism, we created loads of chances, just let ourselves with finishing.

Most promising performance since Milan, and I'm by no means Potter in at this point.

Because with Auba on the pitch we don't get "chance after chance".

Completely agree Argo. Potter getting stick for freezing him out is way off base for me too. Aubameyang didn't even look he was trying IMO. Wasn't closing down, wasn't contesting challenges. Whether he was pissed with signing and then Tuchel being sacked I don't know. But he looked like he was only here for the paycheck and that sort of attitude from a senior player can be toxic.

Unlucky really. We'll go through at the Bridge, I'm sure of it.

Only one team on the pitch in the second half, but somehow Dortmund scored...

Our game went to the next level once James got on the ball more often.

The silver lining is City won tonight and hopefully Arsenal's season will only go downhill from here on. The self entitled league champions in Decembrie, f**king fools.
