Have our set piece takers ever been told they don’t have to kick it to the nearest player on the pitch. They could put it in the middle of the goal or even to the back post. Crazy stuff I know.

Gallagher is a big downgrade on mount..

Meanwhile AC Milan who we arseraped in two games is going through against Napoli that was touted to be the best team in Europe.

If this lot applied themselves like this every game, we wouldn't be where we are this season and I would have actually believed Potter when he would say "the lads gave everything". They didn't give everything and they haven't been giving everything all season, tonight is proof of that.

A much improved first half...two good chances go begging.   I'd take Kante off and maybe Gallagher albeit he's had a decent game and run his socks off - I'd go for the MM change - Mudryk and Mount or Felix give Real something to worry about.

We've been the better team. I'd get Gallagher or Kovacic off for Mount or Felix.

Need some forwards on, playing without any natural forwards unless you include Havertz who is a hybrid attacker/midfielder. Seems like a game made for pace in behind would have had Mudyrk on that left to stretch the play. Havertz needs another attack minded player, Gallagher alone isn't enough

People are saying this Real side is bang average but that’s because we suffocated them. We’ve done well so far and of course unlucky not to be 2-0 up.

I would keep the same shape but take Gallagher off. Mount can offer the same energy and he’s miles better. I wouldn’t even bother with the likes of Sterling they’d just stink the place out.

Difference between a top class keeper and us being at 2-0. With Kepa in goal for them we are right in the.

Yeah not really putting much effort up top and the defence hasn't really been put under immense pressure..2 decent chances and a couple of half chance

Were playing much better than I had expected…some good build up play… getting in behind out wide…just no one to finish it. 

That went better than I expected. This 2-goal deficit would be recoverable if we could remember how to score. 

I want to be happy that we are displaying more energy and effort and fitness all over the pitch.

But my head is saying to me that there is no way this entire team have upped their fitness levels this significantly in the 3 days since Lampard cailled them out on it,

Therefore the natural conclusion is that they must have been sacking it off after all.

 

Decent first half by us. again we squander good chances.
