Yes, but they still always play with a central forward. Usually Jesus, but when he was out injured Nketiah played that position. We need that player.

Jesus is far from an out and out 9, and Nketiah despite a couple of goals was poor to the point they played Trossard there instead.

If you didn’t massively lower your expectations for this season then you are as foolish as those running the club. After sanctions then bidding we were never going to pick up where we left off, that’s crazy. All the big clubs in the premier league have done it, i.e take a big step back, it is now our turn, simple as that.

we can only look forward, and I am confident that we will get back to where we were. But ……… I reckon it will take at least another season

Well Spurs rely a lot on Kane. Napoli have relied heavily on Osimhen. Man Utd on Rashford. We won our titles with a 20 goal striker.

Napoli have 9 players with over 3 goals, United have 8, we have 2. I would rather not hold ourselves to the same sh*t standards of Tottenham.

We won our titles with wingers that could score, one of them being the best player on the planet in Hazard. We also won titles with one midfielder scoring 20 goals every season. Defenders like Terry, Gallas and Cahill scoring from defence. Midfielders like Ballack, Essien and Fabregas producing the goods now and again. We have nothing like that in this current team.

Oh well, Its been a long time since I’ve watched us play with basically nothing to play for. Hard to imagine this is normal for a lot of clubs. If it shakes loose some of the more entitled, fair-weather fans then at least the season won’t be a complete waste.

Nketiah filled in really well when Jesus was out. Trossard hadn't been signed then. Jesus is a great focal point for them. His hold up play is truly excellent for his size. He is usually the focal point for their attack. And he is an instinctive finisher. We do not have anyone that is even close.

I'm not disappointed in this one performance, I'm disappointed that this lot refuse to bring the same energy and determination into every game. We'll go away from this and these same players will play the most unwatchable sh*te in the next league game.

Disagree, think we will play with a bit more freedom for the rest of the season. Hopefully upset a few team enroute

I never expected to pick up right where we left off, but I don't think expectations should be lowered so far to the point where we don't even look any better than teams in the relegation spots. Take that into next season and we will be in a relegation battle that we won't survive.

Yeah but it was was worse under Jose....

Jose had peak Hazard and peak Costa and was 5 places below.

Nice try though.

The Brighton side that demolished you last week haven't got a striker with more than 4 goals in the PL this season.

Of course having a striker who scores 20+ goals is helpful but it really isn't necessary in modern football.

Been driving home listening to the game on the radio.

Tonight's line up was never going to get the job done. We needed at least 2 goals, probably 3, and the starting XI had only scored 17 between them all season, and Havertz has 9 of those. Five of the outfield players hadn't scored at all.  Misses from Kante and Cucurella consistent with players who haven't scored all season (granted Kante not played much).

15 scoreless games out of the last 25 now ...

Don't worry Save its not all over yet, still something to play for.

We're not yet at the magic 40 points yet.
