Okay, he might have said we need to win in a general sense. He might have not suggest we need to compete with City but have the spirit of winning. And aim of winning every game. After the season we had this can well be the sentiment.

If he suggested we need to compete with everyone right away our squad is waaaayyyy off and Pochettino is a bit delusional. 

I would love if he could instill winning culture back to the team and we would just go for it every game. What the results are then are the results. I won't expect us to make the CL after first season with Nico Jackson leading the line and Mudryk+Madueke as the wingers. Not to mention the young backline.

Think the man city lineup could struggle a bit mainly because de bruyne is clearly showing wear and tear, Phillips has had a season off and so a bit doubtful just now

our lineup is so new to us I don’t see how you can say it’s better or worse, but there is simply no point in paying up for all these youngsters if you don’t play them. 
 

maybe it will be a bad season maybe not. What are the bookie odds right now?

Pretty much this, I think people have too much expectations on the likes of Santos/Hall. They are young with alot of talent but you need good senior players around them to take the pressure off dealing with the expecations of the club.

I dont understand the urge to sign a player like Cherki, he's 19 and raw. f**k I would take Willian back over him on a free, he won't play every game but he's reliable and you know what you're getting.

Our midfield looks good on paper in terms of talent but we don't have a player on our books whos had a full season playing that position in this league.

I do hope for the love of god there is nothing to this, aside from a reaction to the interview Dele did with Neville, because this would be worse than Lukaku returning, times a million. Just closed down the club and call it a day if anyone was to sign off on this.

I think enough evidence has shown in the past couple months that we are in a very, very good place with Stewart and Winstanley calling the shots.

Why did this upset you so much? I read it as a sign of support for a player who's been going through a rough time. No need for an overreaction.

BTW Hopefully Pochettino reached out to Dele Alli personally as well, that seems more supportive to me than a social media post, but that may be my generation speaking

This league is ruthless now and there's no guarentee we make top 4 and you could argue we are behind all the other teams in terms of being favourites.

It seems like if you are over 28/29 you are deemed finished, modern footballers last alot longer than they used to. You only have to look at the best player in our squad who's 38.

Yeah seems a bit odd. Dele Alli mentioned how Pochettino was like a father he never had and the best coach he had. He connected with him on a personal level, not just a footballing one. Sounds like Pochettino is a great guy to be honest. 

I just looked it up. We have the opportunity to make another record. We already hold the record for the youngest team to win the league. And that was in Jose's first season. The standard is much higher now across the league because more clubs have owners with lots of money. 

 

"Chelsea's average starting XI age in this season was just 25 years and 250 days old – it remains the youngest to win a Premier League title."

Arse last season averaged 24 and a bit. Man C averaged 28 last season.

I'm still not convinced anything is going to improve next season.

Pochettino is a better manager than Potter or Lampard, but the club still feels like a mess. We are in the middle of July, pre season under way, our midfield is still a mess, we still need to get a few players out and we don't even have a shirt sponsor.

I would be surprised if he's not getting restless and slightly worried already. I tip my hat to whoever can look at the current squad and remain confident but personally I think the squad is lacking in both depth and quality. It honestly looks pretty set in stone that Kepa will be our 1st choice GK and Jackson our first choice striker though and believe me thats a mistake.

Who are the several he wanted to keep?

And why are you criticising Kepa? Didn't you say experienced players were a safe bet last week?

I remain confident that we have a top 10 squad   What are you expecting from a squad with about 5 old hands and 20 new kids?

I'm not so sure. You even said yourself Tuchel's football wasn't sustainable and Potter couldn't even get us building out from a press the whole time he was here. 

A manager who was near his managerial expiration being replaced with a manager who was out of his depth.
