But by god, he needs to sort our defensive shape out, he's not going to last here much longer if this goes on. Edited April 4, 20242 yr by Victor90

We’ve been conceding at an alarming rate recently, but thankfully our attacking prowess has been good. It’s definitely something we need to fix up.
April 5, 20242 yr THe board should hire a defence coach alongside the set piece coach, clearly Pochettino needs the help in both avenues.
April 5, 20242 yr The Burnley result is so frustrating. We're 10th right now with 2 games in hand on 7th place West Ham. If we had won that Burnley game alongside this win tonight, we would be 7th, a point ahead of West Ham, 2 games in hand on them, 2 points behind United and a game in hand on them. 6th place was within our grasp and we wasted it.
April 5, 20242 yr Took time to reflect on the game, as didnt want the emotion of the actual result to cloud my view.... The amount of chances we are conceding, the lack of defensive organisation, the lack of ability to defend a cross, the continued individual errors, the lapses of concentration..... That doesnt scream superstar head coach to me. He has been bailed out by 2x soft pens, and a huge deflection. End of. Yes - it is amazing to beat manure, in this manner, but we were bloody lucky, and in truth stole the game, after first throwing it away due to Poch's inept ability to get this team organised. I have no idea how this guy stands there in his post match presser and talks about being a head coach and not a clown. Absolutely brazen chancer....

Lose this game on a brain fart from Caicedo and two shocking displays of a fundamental lack of ability from Badiashile and there would have been hell to pay. Effectively announcing that Badiashile is preferred over a fit and available Silva, regardless of age, and then playing him for a full 90, unforgivable and almost very, very costly.
April 5, 20242 yr Full disclosure I was actually not that bothered when we looked set to lose yesterday as that would 100% have been the final nail in his coffin. Now there is a path to 7th and even 6th and I fully believe we are dumb enough to keep him on if he gets Europe in any way, shape or form. And that my friends can only hurt us big time so while its a really boring outlook to take I am still not convinced yesterdays comeback was beneficial to us in the longer term if it saves Pochettino's arse. It's unbelievable to me that the only thing we can ever resort to under Pochettino is to slug it out with every single team. Doesn't matter if its AFC Wimbledon, Leicester, Burnley or Manchester, it's always a brawl and for me thats a disgrace. Palmer, soft penalties and lucky deflected overtime goals, those three things have saved Pochettino big-time and in that order.
April 5, 20242 yr He got lucky with the two late goals. Losing 3-2 might have been the end of him come the season. Consistently giving up 2 goal leads is hurting us massively. He’s got to find a way to tighten it up and makes us hard to beat. Credit to Poch though, he has fixed our attack which was blunt. I wondering if he has traded defensive stability for goals and risks?
April 5, 20242 yr Can't believe the amount of moaning after such an entertaining game of football where we WON and got all 3 points off Man Utd. All this "papering over the cracks bollocks". Just enjoy the win FFS! I was as annoyed as anyone when we let that 2-0 goal lead slip but always knew there was no way we were keeping a clean sheet - not with that defence. Sure, you can blame Poch for being stubborn and not playing Silva, but other than that what can he do with the defenders out injured and players like Caicedo and Badiashille dropping absolute clangers? I hope from now until the end of the season we see more of Carney & Noni, as when those two are on the pitch, along with Palmer, Mudryk, Enzo and Gusto, we ARE great to watch and we can cause any team problems. Jackson though is still not a striker. Edited April 5, 20242 yr by Nibs
April 5, 20242 yr Still buzzing after last nights result but overall still clearly worried. He has got to put aside his differences with Silva and have him playing in some capacity until the end of the season.
April 5, 20242 yr Very poor football from both sides. It may have been "entertaining" but this is professional football where something is on the line. Why are we playing like high school kids in a park for the fun of it? Not good enough.

He wasn't lucky to win, he would have been unlucky if we had lost that game. We had far better chances and should really have scored about 5 goals. For all your lamenting of our defending, their goals came from individual errors. I'm not really sure how you can blame individual errors on Poch.
April 5, 20242 yr How the feck we play City in Saturday and Arsenal on Tuesday!! Maybe I am misremembering but I surely use to see some posters on here say they rather win 4-3 than a dull 1-0. Fans kept moaning entertainment well Poch would say: ”ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED”!! Edited April 5, 20242 yr by El regreso

Because that is what football is ALL about. The rollercoaster of emotions. When I think of classic games off the top of my head (difficult as I'm now an old bugger and there are too many to remember), but I think of the 4-4 v Sheff Wed in the cup (Canoville!), the 4-4 v Spurs (Joey Cole had a stormer), the 4-3 v Spurs (Steino penalty!), the 4-4 v City this season. All those games swing one way then another and you go from despair to joy. That's surely why we all fall in love with football? Give me last night over grinding out a 1-0 every time. Be great if we beat City 4-3 in the semi final!

Instead it has been a consistent failing to get the players into a coherent unit, that is able to defend a lead. We are a systematic mess. Of course individual mistakes happen. But to happen week in week out, and for those players to continue to be selected - THAT is on the coach. I believe that the system and lack of organisation (particularly on counters and crosses) has led to a lack of confidence in defending ….which in turn causes the individual errors to happen. THAT is also on the coach.

Do you forget that for City, he scored in both the Community Shield and Super Cup? He's that good that he will perform under any coach. This good of a season nobody expected, at all. Not even Pep, so it's not a dig at anyone in particular but it shows Pochettino is doing a great job with Palmer and Palmer did publicly say that he's happy with the manager.

Pretty difficult to sort us out defensively when all the first choice players are on the treatment table, James, Chillwell, Fofana, Colwill, ....and its a stupid idea IMO to leave Silva on the bench when everyone else is injured; he's the only one that has the experience and know how to marshal and organize the defence. If he's not going to play him, then respect him and let him leave the club early, don't embarrass him by sticking him on the bench every week for the next 10 or so games.
April 5, 20242 yr Well that was a barn burner for the ages but terrible in games management by both managers. Even though all our first team defenders are in the treatment room we need to hire a defence coach at some point before the start of next season. Our Manager and his coaching staff are clueless when it comes to defending. I'm not sure who advises Todd and Co about football matters but building any team starts with a spine of the team and a defensive unit. Either Todd didn't listen or he had bad advice. Last nights game may have bought him some time and I expect he'll be here at the start of next season with hopefully a fully fit squad, then we will see how good or bad Potch really is. If we are seeing the same sh*te and schoolboy defending and errors, he surely will be gone after 10 games.
April 5, 20242 yr Great result... we kept playing for the 160 minutes... Defending across the league has been trash the last couple of weeks, we're no exception but as opposed to last season when scoring was an issue, we're now scoring so that's that sorted.
April 5, 20242 yr Such a weird season, it's realistic that we could be 6th in a couple of weeks but that just doesn't tell the story of the season. We're lucky the teams above us are as inconsistent as we are.

It's identical to the KDB situation, minus the loan spells. He believes he should be starting. Manager wants to take their time with the player. The player doesn't want to wait and forces a move.
