He comes across as a nice fella. And that is why he will fail. You never succeed in this sport by being nice. Ranieri winning the league with Leicester was a one off and very rare exception to that rule. Being nice in sport just creates losers in my experience. You need to have a nasty and ruthlessness side about you to win. Edited April 4, 20242 yr by Scott Harris
April 4, 20242 yr Despite the win I have finally come down off the fence and joined the "Poch out" camp. Our defence is a disorganised shambles, our set-piece moves, both defensively and offensively, are awful. And most of all, despite his alleged reputation for bringing on young players, he is simply holding ours back IMO.

I have a lot of sympathy for him due to the chaotic way our squad has been built but you then have to consider what he has done with the players he has available and I feel he has made too many mistakes too many times. Both in terms of starting selections and mid game changes.
April 4, 20242 yr I'm still for giving the gaffer time but we're papering over the cracks. You can't keep scoring your way out of trouble, the defence at the moment is probably the worst I've ever seen it. Far too many goals conceded, we're conceding like a bottom 3 team. This needs to get sorted out.

On the other side of the coin , it’s always said it’s easier to organise a defence than to score goals so maybe he can fix it/get in a coach to fix it.

I'm being very patient due to the absurd circumstances going on at the club, youngest team in Europe, so many new players all at once, injuries galore. But there needs to be some structure in place here, and the defence just hasn't been right all season, if Poch doesn't sort this out he'll be getting the sack.
April 5, 20242 yr Never mind in or out, after last nights fantastically orchestrated win, the question should now be, does he get a new 3 year or 5 year contract?

April 5, 20242 yr I was a Poch supporter because he did well with kids at Southampton and Spurs. I think over his career he has also been either a very unlucky manager or a bottler, depending on how you see things. He's been extremely unlucky with the injury ravaged squad. Very few managers can build a team when every other week you're forced to change personnel. However as a minimum I want to see organisation. We seem to be worse in 2nd halfs as seen by our consistently conceding goals after the break. It points to him not being able to lift the players a notch during the break or implement a plan that sees us maintain our grip on the game. Doesn't make a case for him being a good tactician. When the game changes, he doesn't deal with the change in tide with shape or personnel change. He doesn't attempt to even break opposition momentum by applying different game style as required. At the bare minimun, I want a coach that can do all that or at least attempt to do even some. He's not meeting the bare minimum in my opinion. I only ever want what's best for Chelsea and at the moment he hasn't convinced all season. Edited April 5, 20242 yr by abister1 Auto correct error

Trying to avoid another turn of our managerial merry-go-round shouldn't be the reason to hold on to an unsuitable manager. How much is the injury crisis responsible of his set-up, more often than not leading to deplorable results? Every top manager should be able to handle 4-5 absentees, but we'll only know for sure how he'll be for us if the club can get to the bottom of our injuries and resolve it. And he may have a good reputation with young players, that was with squads who had senior and experienced players to help everybody along. If all you are practically left with is young players new to the country and the premier league, that's a no-win situation. Having said that, Pochettino keeps making the same mistakes, he doesn't seem to learn. Yesterday when we were 2-0 up, I decided not to get elated as the notorious halftime talk was still to come. Anybody have a pillow for me to use on that fence?

A while ago city lost kdb for the whole season and it had 0 effect because his replacement was b silva. Last season arsenal lost Saliba and their whole season collapse.

I only ever want what's best for Chelsea and at the moment he hasn't convinced all season. Spot on. There is such a contrast from our defensive structure and our attacking. The attack needs minimal organisation. The players are creative enough. You should create some passing patterns, set piece organisation and shooting drills. Then let the players play. You earn you corn with the organisation of your defence. Its an old adage but true that the attack wins you matches but your defence wins you trophies. We have conceded 50 league goals! So far! Tells you all you need to know about his lack of organisation, discipline and structure. Plus this is not new for him. Even in those attacking areas he has been largely lacking in the basic organisation, we are bereft of pattern for large periods, our shooting has often been laughable and our set pieces awful. Even the numerous penalties that we have had, the only time Palmer has relinquished these, we've missed. The player's individual creativity allied to some luck and soft penalties is papering over the cracks really.
April 7, 20242 yr Even more out than ever before. Clinging on to a 1 goal lead at one of the worst teams the prem has ever seen amd he makes a double change when defending a set piece. What an absolute moron.
April 7, 20242 yr Even with a striker and everyone fit, I honestly still wouldn’t trust his in-game management. Bizarre football.
