Manage expectations lads. Jackson looked like he answered our prayers during Poch’s preseason.

It is nice to have 3 strikers though.

I know, I know... let us dream a bit longer though.

Did he score goals as good as that though?

Good player, will be our starting striker surely. Overall game is more polish than Delap, Jackson isn't even in the conversation. 3rd choice option ala Loic Remy.

Funny thing is Jackson literally has no one to blame but himself

I think if everyone's fit and not suspended I think he plays behind Delap as a second striker/10 where Nkunku played today. He's very well rounded I think a lot of the time he'll be wasted as a number 9, which of course sounds mental after his performance tonight.

Double posting here because I like when I'm wrong and it still benefits me... 😅

"I was dead wrong about him, but now know more about his background coming from Fluminense: he was always a wonderkid with huge potential. It's exciting to watch him play."

I'm listening to the Brazilian media and apparently Joao Pedro had Ronaldo 9 numbers as a 18yo at Fluminense. Then he struggled a bit after moving, or perhaps did not develop as quickly as expected, but there is now murmur about Joao Pedro leading the line for Brazil next year at the WC.

When these moments happen I always remember Mutu. Perhaps as that was Roman’s first game, and there with my dad. But my goodness did Mutus wheels ever come off.

It’s different this time though!!!!

I actually think Pedro is a good player and played in the right position can be effective.

I understand he’s underwhelming for some but IMO we’ve got a very good player who’s also used to the English game.

A very good player 😉

Don't forget Guiu. I'd ship Jackson and keep Guiu as the third option.

It's been a while since I've been impressed by a new signing by such a degree. I wasn't overly excited by the singing at first or really understood what his role would be, but he looks like to be a great fit in the "CF" position to link up with Palmer, Enzo, and the two wingers. He also offers a real goal threat and is not afraid to shoot from outside the box, which will come in useful for a lot of our games where teams will set up with a low block. He's a totally different type of player than Delap, I think both of them will be useful next season, but this guy has hit the ground running.

Definitely a huge upgrade on Jackson. I don’t expect him to score every game but his overall play is really good, and I love his tracking back. It’s a competition between him and Delap imo for the starting position, at the moment Pedro edges it but honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if Delap surpasses him eventually.

Hopefully we can play both at the same time, if we do then Jackson is probably worth keeping, purely for depth.

Having said that, if anyone comes in with a offer, take it and run.

I heard talk about him being injury prone - is this true? He missed 8 games last season to injury which isn't bad compared to some of our players *cough* Lavia, James, Fofana *cough*

No. knock on wood.

I'm not seeing here he missed any games last season? He had a hamstring injury a couple years ago that had him out for a couple months but he's been relatively fit for his entire career.

He's had his share, mainly ankle. Missed 11 games with a hammy 2 years ago. Maresca got pelters from the ignoranti for subbing him off last night. Sensible, given he hadn't played since April and had been on hols.

That's daft. He isn't going to blame himself.

He will blame you, Theresa May, Bono, Kim Kardashian, but he won't blame himself.
