October 16, 20169 yr interesting to see him average as the furthest forward player yesterday. you'd expect two consequences if that becomes the norm- more goals but fewer instances of him passing or running with the ball. it is certainly going to be a good thing for him to not have to pick up the ball from the back four as often as he has in his chelsea career anyway.
October 17, 20169 yr He seems to be doing a lot less of that standing still and slowly shuffling towards the defender thing recently, thank god. I know its lovely when he suddenly sets off and dribbles past 2-3 people, but when he was doing it basically everytime he got the ball, it was just allowing the other team all the time in the world to get numbers back.
October 17, 20169 yr Yeah defintely like him further forward rather than defending. He just can't track back so best to put him in a position where we can utilise his skills best. I remember that Rafa said that he moved Hazard up the pitch as he said he was starting his runs too deep which actually makes sense. Plus, Hazard has always wanted to play as a no.10 so he's likely to put on better performances.

It's probably worth noting that the average position diagrams might be skewed by our change in formation after Chalobah came on. Hazard was up front for the last twenty minutes (by my understanding).
October 17, 20169 yr The thing that impressed me most was his movement, he was making such clever runs, i already knew Pedro and Costa are good at making clever runs, and now with Eden playing more central we are seeing Hazard making similar clever runs, that front 3 are such a threat with their movement making runs in behind and the you have the fullbacks bombing forward, we are going to be such a nightmare to play against with this system.

October 17, 20169 yr Conte gives him the freedom he needs. He allows him to focus more on attack than defence, he has the area and he gets the ball, then we know what's next.
October 20, 20169 yr Surly this is the game to tell him, do what ever the hell you want - take a free role and reek havok show Jose what he's missing
October 20, 20169 yr Di Matteo used him as striker before, even jose once tried it and didn't quite working that time.. too soon to make judgement on his so called 'new position'..
October 21, 20169 yr Theres a huge difference playing as a lone striker with your back against the goal and playing secondary striker in a 2 forward system next to someone like Costa

October 21, 20169 yr Even though Messi had a poor game and still scored a Hatrick, will Eden ever reach that nonchalance of easy scoring, because i still believe with his confidence up, he has the ability no doubt.......

I think with regards to hazard im done with 'expecting' anything. I always hope he plays his best, but i don't expect it anymore. He just doesnt deliver enough
October 23, 20169 yr Now he is playing more centrally with less defensive responsibilities i definitely expect a big performance.
October 23, 20169 yr Author Looking more and more like his old self, he will never be a 30 goal a season player, as that just isnt his game, but as long as he is pitching in, and making thjngs happen i will be happy.
October 23, 20169 yr I reckon he's back, no flat track bully judged by the way he carved up United defence. Hazard in space with a couple of seconds of time is about the most scary thing to any defenders right now. If anything, Conte showed Jose plenty of mercy by taking Hazard off, number 5 wasn't far off when Hazard was around.
October 24, 20169 yr Wrong foots a player then deposits the ball into the corner of the net - classic Hazard.
October 24, 20169 yr If really pushes himself he could easily be getting around the 20 goal mark. Just needs to be less passive and go for the kill sometimes. Anyway glad to see him take control of a big game and score another. This system is doing him wonders. With us not being in Europe, he is being afforded much more rest and really that should do us wonders in our assault for the PL title as when he is in form like this he is literally unstoppable.
October 24, 20169 yr Yes. This could be the season he gets 20+. System suiting him atm. Nice goal today. Needs to score a few more like that.

No one is a 30 goal player in the PL especially not a winger but if he keeps this up should secure 15 even 20 which if Costa has a 20-25 season is brilliant
