Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Why? Did they not just replace Zidane and screw over the national team to do it?

There's rumours that Real might sack Julen Lopetegui soon because they've had such an atrocious (by Madrid's standards) start to their season. First time since 1985 they've failed to score in four consecutive games.

They've only won 4 of their opening 8 La Liga fixtures so apparently they're considering bringing in Conte as a replacement already.

If that did happen you would assume Hazard would start second guessing a move to Madrid.

Personally I think Hazard is going to stay at Chelsea and sign a new contract.

Think he needs to shut up. Doesn't want to copy Courtois but continually talking in the media. How we, as fans, have the patience with these players who want to leave I don't know. Arguably the best player at Chelsea or not, doesn't matter, if you keep talking and want to leave, then go. Any player who doesn't want to be here should leave. Players can be replaced.

You suggest he starts to leave the press conference and the interviews like Mourinho?

trust me, it would have been 10x worse if he had said "I wanna leave, I don't wanna play for Chelsea". He is just trying to be diplomatic and for God's sake, he is the player in the world, he can't escape the media.

If he wants to leave I don't see the problem he's given us 7 season's never moans or throw his toy's out, just gets on with it

Dafuq?! He stopped playing for a year and didn’t score until April to get Jose sacked!

Don't know why some people got outraged by his latest comments. As I see it, he did mention the possibility to sign a new contract, it's up to the club to make a move or 2 to convince him to stay. Of course he wanted to go to Madrid, but he didn't let him affect him once we turned down the offer, he's in the best form of his Chelsea career,  what more could we be asking for? Like others said, if he gives us a 30+ goals a season and still wants to move at the end of the season, we should take the money and wish him well.

I really want him to stay but if he doesn't want to I say let him go, he's been a fantastic servant to the club. I can't say I was happy with him during the Jose season but other than that the positives massively outweigh the bad.

We've heard about the Real Madrid move for the past two/three season though when Zidane was at Real, and now again this season. If he didn't have 3 seasons left of his contract, he would have left two seasons ago. Now he has one season left, we're hearing more from him and to me it sounds like he is offering himself up to Real by bigging them up, it's very transparent. You don't even have to read through the lines. He wants to go to Real Madrid.

Refreshingly honest.

At least he is telling the truth. We shouldn't hold on our breath on him staying, Madrid will have to give us a boat load of money.

Who knows. If we promise Eden that we will invest heavily and go on to win the league, maybe, just maybe he will want to stay.

Madrid usually get their man though.

Unfortunately this isn't 2/3 seasons ago, the league is way stronger now and a league win isn't a certainty no matter who we sign. Man City can invest as much, if not more than us, and Utd will eventually get their act together under a new coach if needs be. Liverpool are also strong, as well as Arsenal finding their feet. Eden knows that Real Madrid are arguably the biggest and most successful club in Europe, so going there he has a higher chance of winning trophies, including a CL and Balon D'or. We've seen the kind of player our board has targeted in previous seasons and the money & talent wasted, I'm not confident we can be efficient in the market tbh with you.

Its up to the Club to convince him.........a good season is good and all, but we must prove we are willing to add quality players around him. Top4, worthy additions and a fat payrise.....thats will do it. And if RM continue f**king up, cuz their team is out of their prime.....way out, then it looks good. Lets hope we dont wait till the seasons over before negotiating.

Has he actually spoken out or is this a rehash story based on the fact that Lope....gui is in trouble and they need reinforcements and today both Hazard and Harry Kane are being framed as potential saviours.

He was asked if he wants to go to madrid.

He always answers questions honestly.

Theres not actually been any sign that madrid want him.

If he doesn't want sign a new deal I think we need to just let him run his contract down, we couldn't get a big enough fee for him with a year left on his contract, he doesn't seem like the sort of player that would cause issues, and who knows, if we have a good season, and a good window, he might decide to stay, like ozil did at arsenal.

We haven't even offered him anything since last December apparently, so these latest comments could be hazard leveraging the club for what will be his last massive contract.

Great player, hope he stays, but if we do lose him, life at chelsea fc goes on.

Also from the so called quotes I read on BBC he's basically saying I could go BUT if I do am making sure Chelsea get a massive fee for me because they have given me everything. So reading that he's saying he knows he has one year left on his contract and want's Chelsea to get the best deal if he goes.

Ideally he'll sign an extension so his value doesn't plummet as his current deal winds down, but build in an exit clause.

The worry is that Real will decide they can't afford him at his current value but will tap him up by saying they will sign him on a free in 2020. We'd have had 8 years of service from him by then.

I would hope that it'll be  Chelsea or Real for him, and that noone else can tempt him away.

I would prefer the club offered him £500.000 a week.
It sounds like silly money, but that equates to a replacement of say £150 million over 3 yrs.
Bearing in mind at the end of say 3 years he would still be worth a third of that at least..
Offer him the earth I say, It's cheaper than trying to replace him (as we wont get feck all for him in the last year of his current deal)
PS. I have no problems with the way he speaks, he's honest and respectful of the club at the same time... And boy have we had a player for the last 7 yrs !!!!!

Their is an underlying sub plot to this. It's not straight forward.

Firstly look at the current RM manager and his poor form, without a goal in over 400 minutes, some fans are even talking about them struggling to make the top 4.

Assuming this continues and he's sacked by Christmas or soon after. The bookies have got Poch at 5/2 and Conte at 7/2 as clear favs to come in next. This brings up a number of questions.

Would Hazard want to play under Conte again ?

Would Poch bring Kane with him? (could RM afford Kane AND Eden ?)

If Conte is their next manager i see it unlikely Hazard goes there. He has come out and said how much he prefers playing under Sarri, and it shows, much more suited to his style.

If it was Poch, im not sure.

Just hoping that in Jan we can bring in one or two marquee signings and show our intentions like Man City have been. That along with a raise may be enough for him to put pen to paper.

You can tell its the international break, the papers have piss all to write about for two weeks so just keep rehashing stories that will make the headlines.  He apparently said he doesn't worry about winning trophies just as long as he is happy playing football.....and right now he is happy with the football that we are playing.  If the club had any sense they would offer him a new contract while he is 'happy'.............but this is CFC and we know they have a habit of screwing things up more often than not

You keep harping on about that, don't you, despite several people pointing out he played with a hip injury.

Exactly, Jose got himself sacked, then got his people come up with the story of 3 rats to save his skin, sadly some fans even believed that. With Jose, always someone else's betrayal.
