May 13, 20197 yr haha - you never know with Eden, he teased all the clubs before he settled with us... Whatever happens he has been great and no ill feeling will be cast. I hope he stays, but that remains to be seen and looks rather unlikely... how will he cope in Madrid if he doesn't score a hat trick every game, our fans will never boo Hazard, Madrid fans wont think twice about it. Grass isn't always greener!! He has it good here. But.....if he does go more stars will come. Zola, Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Hazard, maybe RLC can be the new man.... theres always a new kid on the block!

We simply cannot afford to do that. Neither can they according to some people who've examined their financials. Their intermediate accounts corresponding to the first half of the 2018-2019 season, up to Dec 31, are the hard evidence that debunk the myth of a cash-rich Madrid. Published on April 9, they revealed there was no cash in the club during last summer or this January’s transfer windows. The €64 million that appeared in the accounts corresponded to the amount that fell due to the tax authorities in January. Crucially, the wage bill, even after the sale of Ronaldo in the summer, rose from €200 million for the same period the previous year to €205 million. Ronaldo’s sale kept Madrid in profit, just as the sale of the likes of Danilo and Alvaro Morata had done in previous years and they will have to sell again if they are to acquire players. That relies on the market being prepared to pay a big fee for Gareth Bale, as well as annual wages likely to be around €28 million. Ideally for Madrid they would sell loanees James Rodriguez and Mateo Kovacic but neither Bayern Munich nor Chelsea seem that eager. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/04/28/myth-cash-rich-real-madrid-begs-huge-question-do-intend-pay/
May 13, 20197 yr We shelled out a club record transfer fee to RM for Morata, we have also paid the wages for Kovacic a season. Now they have to pay the full market price for Hazard, can't afford him ? sod off !
May 13, 20197 yr The thing is more concerning is that this a second season in a row where a player has let their contract run down and had their head turned by Real Madrid. I know it happens but let’s just hope there’s not a third time.
May 13, 20197 yr Personally don't see them in the drivers seat. They crave for a world class winger and Haz is one of the only players in the market. Mbappe is 200m€, Neymar 200m€. Hope we hold for 100m€ and stick with it. If it doesn't go through it doesn't go through.

Hazard is the better player imo. Why can’t Real buy Neymar instead? Please...
May 13, 20197 yr I haven't heard any quotes from Hazard saying he is leaving and going to RM. This doesn't mean he isn't but the quotes attributed to him say he has made his decision. If he does want away the clubs need to agree a figure. He's 29 in January so we won't get the top price. If he wants to go we should let him. He also has to understand that because we don't want him to go that we want a good price. For me £100m is reasonable. I heard Cundy say on the radio that he's worth £80-100m and if the club can't get that we should run his contract down. The problem is that we lose too much if we run his contract down. His wages are about £10m a year so we would pay out £10m to have him for a season but lose out on transfer fee. We need to get some interest from other clubs. Play them off against each other and get the price up. If Madrid don't raise the cash and Hazard still wants to go we have a serious problem but somehow I don't think Eden would do that. I've still got my fingers crossed he won't leave at all. Perhaps we loan him back for year or something similar.

I get that it's a dream for Eden, but the fans at the Bernadeau aren't likely to sing for him and fly huge banners with his name on it. They won't adore him like we've adored him.
May 13, 20197 yr L'Équipe just made a huge article on Eden going to Madrid...it says Real will announce it after the europa final. https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Article/Eden-hazard-chelsea-debarque-au-real-madrid/1018385 Edited May 13, 20197 yr by DidierDrogbalala

May 13, 20197 yr L'Équipe are normally quite accurate and it ties in with everything we've been hearing lately.
May 13, 20197 yr I’ll miss him. He’s going to be such a massive loss. A true Chelsea-great and I wish him all the best.

Solely down to Hazard only having 1 year left on his contract. If Hazard had, say, 3 years left on his deal, I'm sure he would quite easily be quoted at the 200m mark. Agreed that Hazard is the better player - Neymar doesn't help himself spending every match flopping around like a fish on the pitch.
May 13, 20197 yr Going to miss him massively. His personality and the way he plays and I truly believe that he does love Chelsea. I think he's done all he can here and without him, we would have two less Premier League titles. Do I think Madrid is the correct move for him? No. I think they're in transition as they're squad is ageing and I don't think he will win the CL there. The grass isn't always greener. Thank you for everything Eden, you will be sorely missed. ?
May 13, 20197 yr he didn't want to become a chelsea legend. sad. in a year when world finally realised that epl IS THE BEST LEAGUE. f**k, wish him all the best in life but nevertheless I hope that zidane crash&burns his 2nd round at madrid
May 13, 20197 yr £86m according to papers. Wait for Barcelona to get rid of Coutinho then have them fight over Hazard, that'll get the price up.
May 13, 20197 yr 100m euro move looks set to be announced after the Europa final. That transfer ban had better be frozen by CAS. I think we're looking at a tough season otherwise.
May 13, 20197 yr 1 hour ago, dansubrosa said: This is f*cking depressing. Why? Zola, Cech, Drogba, Lampard, Terry. The list can go on and on of great players and servants to our club who all moved on. If Eden wants to live out his dream in Madrid with Zizou he has earned the right for me. For almost all of his 7 years here he has taken a none stop kicking and his given his very best most of the time. A top player and great servant. We just have to invest well and get good players to complement our style to go with Pulisic and CHO. If we fail to do that is on us and only us. Eden has earned the right to decide what he wants, I have zero issue or regret about that, just like with Big Petr and all the rest.
May 13, 20197 yr I think the Big Pete move to Arsenal is a good analogy as axman pointed out. I felt good that Petr got to go to productive at some other place for a few more seasons, and he certainly did that. Eden deserves as much.
May 13, 20197 yr Thanks Phillip. So it was with Zola for me too. He had his best season with us, was clearly still capable, but rather than the money he gave his word and wanted to go and play for his home town side. Also a dream move.
