Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

There definitely seems to be some growing rumours about this possible move. Although everything I have seen so far involves a player + cash swap. Supposedly Real are interested in Reece, and that might be behind some of these stories.

Absolutely no chance of selling the man who is already the best RB in the world and has the potential to occupy that spot for the next 10 years or more.

We aren't selling our best players. Selling Hazard was an exception. We're not Arsenal.

Agreed. I cannot see us selling Reece. That being said if Madrid are genuinely interested in Reece they might be behind some of these stories in an effort to try and unsettle him.

This rumor just sounds like love from Roman, can't see how a 30 year old Hazard fits in the current team. As much as I love Hazard, hopefully it doesn't happen, it's likely to have the same effect as the Schenko signing. Not the player's or manager's fault, just another unnecessary puzzle to solve.

I’d take him for free if they’re desperate to get rid of him.

Failing that would consider Pullisic part exchange although I’m just RM wouldn’t fall for that.

Would mean we’d get rid of someone not suited to EPL and he could reignite his career at RM a bit like Robben. Also keep his US fan base happy.

Win win in my eyes and we get a Chelsea superstar back who’s capable of the X factor we need in certain matches.

Notwithstanding that his defensive contribution doesn't fit the pressing style that all the best teams are playing these days, his injury situation is the big no no for me.

Transfermarkt lists his injury history as the following :

image.thumb.png.ce175fab8a64cec6959ce76304a724d5.png

His injury problems have escalated in the last three seasons, and he has openly admitted that three broken ankles mean his ankles will never be the same as they once were.

No brainer non-starter of a transfer for me, despite the pulling of the heart strings ....

I'll take him back in a heartbeat at 30 years old he still has 5 years left, regardless of the logistics something will have to give. Madrid cannot afford for him to sit on the bench but, I don't see how he gets into the team when Mbappe joins especially if Vincius keeps up his current form.

Either we sign him on loan next summer or enquire about his availability in January.

Personally I don't think he fits the current style of Tuchel but, ironically that could be why we could use him. In theory the only player that would render this system useless were he to play alongside Eden is the player he has he most chemistry with Lukaku.

The issue is neither would press effectively, yet were we to play one at time I could see Eden working in a free role alongside two hard workers like Timo/Mason/Kai etc. Either way Rom needs to pick up his pressing game anyway.

The reason our attack is struggling is because unlike most world class teams it's not build around one, two or three world class players.

Even spending all that money on Rom we don't play to his strengths. At least if Eden came in we would be forced when he does play to at least let him play his game.

Some things are better left in the past but, I can't see how with our current lack of creativity right now Eden wouldn't at least offer something, I also wouldn't expect him to play every game.

As much as I love the attackers we have now, I can see at least 1 or 2 leaving in the summer to pursue more game time so we will need to replace them either way. Ask yourselves if Eden does leave Madrid would you really want to see him go anywhere other than home?

Edit: I wouldn't specifically push for this transfer but, what I'm saying is if he is available can anyone really say no. We're also talking about at a much lower price than we sold for.

There's nothing to say he wont be just as unavailable as Pulisic has been for us the point is, if he's to leave Madrid we might as well have him back.

I'm well aware of our history with injuries and buying players past their prime. I think for everything he has accomplished with this club if anyone should pick him up after his nightmare at Madrid it should be us.

I think the total opposite, if anything his history with us means we shouldn't taint it by bringing him back as a characature.

The dream will be a spectacular return to form but the reality will likely be closer to Kaka and Sheva going back to Milan (which were such damb squibs I bet a few will have not known it happened until they read this post).

That's fair and I can't argue he would be anywhere near the player we used to have. I just see it more like when Drogba came back it's not a signing we need more like a squad player who's a legend and we would be doing a favour to offering a respite from a torturous experience. Again I'd ask people if he was theoretically available for £30-40m would you rather see him play for another epl team or psg/Bayern were they to take a punt, heck even a loan?

Not for me. Only reason you take on players like him on the verge of retirement is for the motivational, leadership aspect of it. He was never the one to push the other lads and he always led by example so him going to us right now won't really be anything more than cashing his last chips really.

If it came to having to actually spend money I'd rather take the hit and see him at a rival (but then again I have always been one that's able to put emotion to one side). We are already seeing with Saul how terribly wrong this type of punt (ex great going off the rails) can go, furthermore I don't want to give the maniacs who think he "wasn't all that" in his prime anymore ammunition.

For a Drogba 2014 esque loan I may be talked into seeing the plus side (especially given we will likely have to trim our forward area this coming summer) but it will have to come with the understanding that's all it is.
