We are already seeing with Saul how terribly wrong this type of punt (ex great going off the rails) can go, furthermore I don't want to give the maniacs who think he "wasn't all that" in his prime anymore ammunition. For a Drogba 2014 esque loan I may be talked into seeing the plus side (especially given we will likely have to trim our forward area this coming summer) but it will have to come with the understanding that's all it is. I 100% understand this and others stance on this and perhaps I can allow nostalgia to cloud my judgement. However, I just feel like with most things in life you never know until you try. Almost every signing we have made that would be similar to this one (were we to make it) have pretty much not worked out. Yet still considering some of our attacking players output right now could Hazard really offer less? Perhaps, if he's constantly injured, but say for argument sake we can get him fit then he's a wildcard. I see him as the type of player who wouldn't play every game, but when he's called upon he does his job. I maintain that I'm happy with or without him, he played his part in our club's history and now it's finished. If he's available though then I don't see why we wouldn't at least consider it, we're a top heavy squad right now no doubt and I can understand people's reservations in that regard alongside fitness. If one of out attackers wants more game time and we let then go then he might as well fill that spot.
November 2, 20214 yr The romantic in me loves the idea of Hazard returning, but not sure where he fits in if he did return. Newcastle have been linked to him now.

November 4, 20214 yr I for one will be gutted if he goes to anyone except us,Pulisic is to injury prone,I know Eden has had problems but I feel he could still give us a bit of magic
November 8, 20214 yr He's not as old as Thiago, but I'd have him in a role similar to Thiago. Don't pay the man too much in wages and have him as a player but also personality/coach around. Despite what people say about his weight or professionalism out of matches, there's no disputing the level this athlete was at in his prime. There's nothing to say he can't alongside the coaches help our attackers with their movement and finishing. The man was the master of this, players like Pulisic, Havertz, Mount, CHO and Werner could all benefit from learning from him. I think this is a low risk high reward situation Madrid will get rid they want Mbappe and Haaland. Realistically they'll get at least one, who knows maybe both. Either way Eden isn't likely to be around. Having him in our squad doesn't make us weaker it just makes us more stacked. The only reason I genuinely can see this not working out is him wanting more game time. If he still really believes he can play at the highest level this is the team for him, he would get game time but, no where near the amount he would personally want unless ofc he performs to an undroppable level. In regards to our playstyle and Hazard fitting in he can easily play false 9 or one of the floating 10s this formation is literally built for players like him. It just means asking him to press less compared to the rest of the team if his fitness has truly gone not thag he ever really pressed anyway.

You get away with one but two poor pressers and you are in trouble. It's quite obvious when you watch Belgium play. Don't think it's a good idea at this point to bring Hazard back.

It's quite obvious when you watch Belgium play. Don't think it's a good idea at this point to bring Hazard back. It's a very good point, but I don't buy the notion Lukaku can't press. Especially since he looks better running at defenders rather than used solely as a target man. If he starts from a deeper position he has a better chance to press from the front. He's an athlete I'm sure he himself knows he's been slightly guilty regarding his off the ball work rate, illustrated by some stats earlier in the season that said he was the 3rd to last in pressing metrics (take all stats with a grain of salt) but the simple eye test tells us all we need to know. He can do more. It all comes down to the tactics Tommy could utilise with both in his squad. They don't have to start together, if they do I'm sure there can be some sort of compromise. Essentially my point isn't to argue that we should go all out to sign Eden. I'm just saying that the main reasons not to get him can all be mitigated to some extent. I completely understand anyone's perspective who sees this as a bad move. I'm not even saying it's a good move. If he's available though what harm is there giving him a second chance? This will always be a low risk high reward scenario. Let's look at next season can we be certain we won't need another forward in another year's time, any one of our players could leave from lack of game time. Even if they don't giving Hazard a position in this squad doesn't hurt like with Saul if he can't perform he doesn't get game time. If he does it just raises the inner team competition for places. As I've said before our attackers can learn a lot from a club legend. Having him back doesn't tarnish his legacy it just cements it further proving he was never Madrid's in the first place we just took them for all their cash won a UCL and took our player back.

Wouldn’t go near him. 4gls & 5 assists in 2+ seasons is enough reasons to stay away. He is done as a top class footballer, & I would rather invest on an upcoming talent than take him for sentimental reasons.

I respect your points but it's time we move on. To be very honest, he should retire from football. His body can't keep up with the poor diets and intense exercise to slim down. It may work when he was younger but in his 30's his body can't keep up.

January 17, 20224 yr Bring him home https://www.managingmadrid.com/2022/1/17/22887632/hazard-real-madrid-news-rumors-2022-departure
January 17, 20224 yr Watching that City game the other day, how we were trying to poke a way through the defence and failing, I was thinking even a 50% Hazard would of made a big difference.
January 17, 20224 yr Quote The report also mentions that some members of Madrid’s medical staff think that Hazard would need to have surgery once again, while members of the board including president Florentino Perez want Hazard to keep playing in order to increase his value in the market.
January 17, 20224 yr @mojo Horrible for him, he can't make a decision on his own injury treatment. I could understand if he was playing well yet when he is not a key player............
January 17, 20224 yr It's hard to determine if he's unhappy at RM, or just unhappy with the situation. He left Chelsea and probably expected to continue his form there, but he's been unfortunate with injuries and his form hasn't returned to what it used to be. Not sure I would want him back if he's going to continue getting injuries and not finding form.
January 17, 20224 yr I'm telling you lads he's been fit for a while now and he looks like the old Hazard. Forget his goal output for a minute and consider entertainment, watching Eden play football is worth more than points in some games imo I still expect him to contribute but when was the last time we had a player that we genuinely tuned in to watch play because they truly excite us? Not a fan of judging a player by YouTube videos but looking at this I can see some of the old Hazard returning through his movement on and off the ball and his finesse and technique.
January 17, 20224 yr Hazard know Lukaku so win win situation for Tuchel. Unlike Ziyech or pulisic. Lukaku will score more because good pass and we will see better footbal and combination between our forward because they trust each other. so sign him right away.
