January 17, 20224 yr The thing is, was Hazard actually all that? We won the CL in 2012 before he joined us and then we don't win it again until after he leaves. Makes you think..................................... I jest of course. Hazard is a one-off. No other CFC player in recent seasons come anywhere near close. Watching a player like Hazard is why people fall in love with football. He's a bums off seats player. So many great memories and he always played for us with a smile on his face, despite getting kicked all over the pitch. My favourite CFC goals in the modern era would all be Hazard's. The West Ham one, the Arsenal one and two against the dippers. Okay, that might not be the Hazard we would be getting back but I would still take the 31 year old Hazard over Pulicic, Ziyech and CHO combined. Edited January 17, 20224 yr by Nibs

Forget his goal output for a minute and consider entertainment, watching Eden play football is worth more than points in some games imo I still expect him to contribute but when was the last time we had a player that we genuinely tuned in to watch play because they truly excite us? Not a fan of judging a player by YouTube videos but looking at this I can see some of the old Hazard returning through his movement on and off the ball and his finesse and technique. Shows how well he links up with Lukaku. Only for Lukaku to cock up the finish.
January 18, 20224 yr Newcastle had a £40m offer accepted by RM but Eden rejected them as he wants a better club. So there it is boys, we know the price. Personally if he is willing to take a huge pay cut, I'd probably do the gamble.
January 18, 20224 yr This really is this simple, is he better than what we have? Yes. Does he care about Chelsea? Yes. Even with his current injury record, the games he'd play in we'd be better. £40 mill really isn't a waste of money considering the overall amount we spend over the years Chelsea legend.
January 18, 20224 yr 4 goals & 6 assists in 3 season in a more open La Liga, playing for a dominant Madrid team, and some fans want him back. Hell No! Will probably be the nail in the coffin for Tuchel if he ever entertains that idea. He already has an underperforming forward in Lukaku he can’t get firing, imagine lumping him with a washed up Hazard. I would hope the player is smart enough not to entertain that idea, just look at Utd and Ronaldo it never ends well.

According to Transfermarkt he spent 419 days injured in total since the 2019/20 season, during that time he featured in 59 games for Real Madrid. In comparison, he featured in 52 games in his last season here. He managed to score 5 goals and make 10 assists in all competitions for Real Madrid since 2019/20. Just in his last season here he managed to score 21 goals and had 17 assists in all competitions. If you honestly believe that we should spend 40m on him right now, I must remind you that in real life there is no saved game that you can load after a wild night of what ifs...

Depends why he got injured and if our guys believe that he can return to normal by being back here with the same setup that kept him mostly injury free for all those years. I honestly can't believe that he just so happened to start breaking down as soon as he moved to Madrid, coming off of a good season for Chelsea, I think there must be a reason to do with changing environments and all the little things that happen along with it. RM are also desperate to get rid so they can free up the budget to sign freebies this summer, so who knows maybe we can negotiate even further bringing it down to £20m or so? The £40m is right now for a January move. I'm just saying a fairly decent price + if he is willing to take a big pay cut and we should look to try.

It may have been the case that his hemmorhoids were acting up at the time the photo was taken.
January 18, 20224 yr In the region of 40million ? I’d give him a punt we have spent worst in the market. I’d love to see him grace the pitch again. Will he be the same hazard that’s the question. (Goal against Tottenham is unforgettable)
January 18, 20224 yr For anyone that is sceptical about his injury record, he's now been fit for what looks like the longest stint of his Madrid career. The man has been very unlucky injury wise and I believe the fact he has to enjoy his football plays a role in his low output numbers, add in the level of responsibility he feels to justify his price tag, the different style of football Madrid play to us and the stylistic differences between epl and la liga and you can see the reason for low numbers. Further add to that him ageing and his playing style shift from a direct winger to a floating number 10 or shadow striker (a transformation he had begun with us) and you can get a better picture of the issues surrounding the players. Ancelotti has stated the only reason he isn't playing regularly is because he doesn't fit his system and Vincius has the left flank locked down. Of all the players in the world rn that would suit the 3421 system as an inside fwd its Hazard, yes he doesn't fit our pressing style but he is a natural fit profile wise to the kind of fwd we need. Of all the gambles we could take I seriously doubt this is the worst one. The deal being quoted was 33m with around 8m in add ons (unsure if this is € or £). I would personally wait til the summer shift some of the deadwood in our squad and then bring him in. We could potentially get him for even less. I'm a big fan of all our attackers but the fact is the majority have failed to really make an impact. Ziyech for example could be out the door in the summer, would people really not take Hazard as a replacement? Or say if he took Barkley's position in the squad we do have a lot of deadwood we could shift for more elite options.
January 18, 20224 yr If Hazard gets a chance and shows that burst of acceleration with his customary powerful accurate finish, everyone will be making offers all over Europe. For me he has not reached that level yet. Maybe never will again yet mark my words if he does...........
January 18, 20224 yr I would take Hazard even in this shape above our inconsistence wingers ( Ziyech, Pulisic and Cho). They don’t contribute anything forward only back pass or can’t move pass the defender. Defenders are still scare of his skillset so maybe putting 2 men on him and our other forwards have more space. + he can hold on to the ball in the big games. Edited January 18, 20224 yr by Hall
January 18, 20224 yr Would love him back but honestly, when do returns ever work out? Can’t think of many that have worked out. They generally tend to be disappointing

January 18, 20224 yr I don't think bringing him back is a good idea. He's injured too much, and hasn't really delivered when he was fit for two and a half seasons now. But damn do I miss him when watching our games nowadays. Our attackers are just so uninspired. What would I give to have a prime Hazard back at the club 😪.
January 18, 20224 yr Whoever thought we needed Hazard back should be demoted. We already have a big fat lump from Belgium who doesn't pull his own weight. I love and loved Eden but his time with us is over.
January 19, 20224 yr Would love to see him back, can't see us paying 40m for him though, he's 31. Will be a shame if he just spends the remainder of his career rotting on the Real bench. Perhaps he needs to put a transfer request in.
January 19, 20224 yr I would take him back for 20M. He won't be a regular starter but he can be a game changer on his day.
