Not sure I'd want to be anywhere near that AC Milan team if I were Fabregas, they've been a mess for a few years now. Yeah but his contract runs until the end of June, he has over 6 months still. Maybe he misses Bakayoko?

December 28, 20187 yr Crazy if true that we’re going to allow him to leave for free next month. He’ll leave the club a bigger legend than he did that job in north London. Probably the best passer of a ball I’ve seen in my time watching Chelsea.
December 28, 20187 yr As others have said, Sarri should have played him more and relying only on Jorginho is a mistake but i hope he has some successful years left in him.
January 1, 20197 yr Apparently on the brink joining Monaco on a free transfer. We’re happy to release him from his contract early as it will allegedly save us £10m in wages and bonuses.
January 2, 20197 yr Will be sad to see him go, such a great passer. Ill miss his long balls to strikers.
January 2, 20197 yr The Cesc to Diego link up was truly special. Be sad to see him go, never thought i'd like an ex-gunner so much.

January 3, 20197 yr Changed the game when he came on. Sarri needs to change something in the center because Jorginho ain't enough
January 3, 20197 yr For me, Sarri got it right by putting Cesc on, and took off the wrong player, should have been Jorginho. Cesc is a much better long passer, and more threatening in the final third than Jorginho. He needed to be the first receiver in deep area, take control and step up the pace of the game in the last 15 minutes.

January 3, 20197 yr Came on last night and showed us what we are missing sarri golden boy just not good enough he doesn’t get the time on the ball.
January 3, 20197 yr Seems like a weird move from the club to let him go. He’s by far and away our most creative midfielder and is, if he plays an assist-machine. Could have been a very valuable piece to have in the fight for top 4, especially now that teams seems to have figured out that we have no idea what to do if they sit deep. For all of Jorginhos good qualities he doesn’t have a single assist in the league this season. Cesc gives us something different and there is an argument that he should play over Jorginho even in many games. Looked like our best midfielder when he came on yesterday for example.

If, as I think we are being led to believe, the Jorginho role is not about screening the back four and relieving pressure as well as starting play, i.e. why he won't play Kante there, then Fabregas is far better than Jorginho. Like Jorginho, Fabregas cannot defend for toffee but he has a far better range of passing, his touch is every bit as good, and he is always looking for the forward ball to get behind defences.
January 3, 20197 yr I think we're completely mad to let him go. You don't throw away a talent like his, I'd be inclined to use him like Conte did in his first season.

Completely mad if we let him go, absolute insanity if we let him and Drinkwater go imho. If Fabregas does leave I'd like to see Drinkwater given another go, can't be any worse than last night. January 3, 20197 yr Extremely poor decision in my opinion. There is no one in the team that can hold a candle to Cesc in terms of his ability to pick out and play THE pass. Not only that but his general intelligence and decision making on the pitch is second to none. The club should do away with this over 30 contract rule. It makes sense with certain players but it doesn't here. He is early 30s and never relied on pace, it is safe to give him a multi-year contract if that's what he's asking for.
January 3, 20197 yr Can't see any benefit of letting Cesc go. None what so ever. We are currently a team which is massively struggling to create goal scoring opportunities from midfield, and we are (potentially) offloading our most creative midfielder. And he is still that, make no mistake about it. Cesc has his limitations, and I would not say he should be in the starting 11 week in/week out, but personally I think he should still be playing a role and should have had more minutes than he has had this season. He is also the only other player who can play the Jorgingo role (according to Sarri himself), so does that mean Jorginho plays every minute of every game until the end of the season? What if he breaks his leg in the next game? Do we just turn to a different style of play all together and ditch "Sarriball". Unless someone else of a similar ilk is coming in I actually think this is madness.
January 3, 20197 yr He looked better in that number 8 role than he has deputising for jorginho. Unless we have a replacement lined up, it seems strange to let him go midseason, especially on a free which has been mooted. The squad lacks goal scorers, but we also lack players that can see and play that killer ball, and fabregas was one of the best in business at that.

He's been a good player for us and a model professional, so if he wants to move on then I'd like to think we're not the sort of club to hold him back. Obviously I hope he decides to stay (and signs a contract extension) and clearly Sarri does too, but I think he's already halfway out the door.
