Well, I don't want to sound harsh but I'm not surprised. It's still a shock to hear it confirmed though. 

I had assumed John would retire and join the coaching staff at the end of the season but it's clear, from reading his statement, that he wants to continue playing.

    If the team lacked motivation to go on and win the title now.. these news should knock them up and make sure to get that title for John to lift it and send him off properly

    Quite simply the best ambassador and player I have ever seen pulling on our shirt. The biggest legend of them all as far as I'm concerned.

    we will never see another JT, just glad I was about to watch him grow into the best centre back in the history of English football.

    Cahill can't fill his shoes. He might even lose his place in the team next season.

    It's crazy that we haven't got a steady first 11 yet. I miss the days where we were sure of Cech-JT-Carvalho-Cole-Lamps-Ballack-Drogba in the team and we only had to make additions elsewhere. We meed to sort things out this summer.

    I feel like my team has left with JT :(. Pretty devstated he won't be retiring at Chelsea.  The last player of what I felt was my favourite Chelsea team (Lampard, Terry, Drogba etc.) Really strange feeling. 

    The greatest and most successful Chelsea player ever. Forever is a long time, but i just don't see anyone ever being as much of a true blue as Terry has been with us. Truly the greatest club legend we have ever produced. Every club would love to have had him, but he was ours and i loved everything he gave to the club and us fans. He will be missed.
