It's a big season for Courtious after 2 pretty disappointing seasons. Rumours that the club were happy to sell for £50m. 

Apart from his shot stopping and crossing, he seems poor. He really needs to be much tougher to beat. Can't understand why keepers come out and tackle - just jockey the guy. Terry was on the line covering. 

Needs to improve big time.

I'm still waiting to see what is so great about Courtois. I don't know what his main strength is because he's not great at any one thing. He doesn't make enough saves to be considered a great shot stopper in my opinion, from corners i have seen him flap at a lot of attempted punches and catches, his kicking is average, his throwing is decent, coming off the line is very poor and he has some horrible mistakes in his game. I just don't see this great goalkeeper that people kept going on about when he was playing in Spain.

Shall we buy Hart?

His biggest weakness is comming off the line, he is way to hesitant and slow. It makes a dangerous combination with our slow defence. whenever they leave space behind them. His size and reach gives him some advantages, but overall he haven't been that good.

Lol. I told you guys he is overrated because he played for am Athletico Madrid team that was defensively solid.
Am not surprised that he hasn't improved. But many of us think he his somehow one of the best in the world!
I know Conte unlike Jose won't give him too much time to prove himself. If he doesn't step up this season we aren't in the champions league, Conte will sign someone else.

I think some of you have been extremely, extremely harsh in here.

I think he's a fantastic keeper, one of our biggest assets for sure. he's a different gravy to begovic and the vast majority of keepers in the world IMO. we're not going to find a better keeper any time soon.

he did make an error today though- didn't really need to commit to the challenge given the ball was going away from goal.

One of the things with comparing Courtois to Cech is there is an element of confirmation bias involved, in the sense that Courtois's error rate is almost invariably compared to Cech's heyday of 2004-2007. 

 

Cech ended up having more than his fair share of errors later in his career and cost us his fair share of points. Courtois has never really had even a season of incredible consistency in Chelsea colours, and so by comparison looks far more error prone.

2 seasons ago no one was complaining about Courtious as he didn't have a bad year. Last year the whole squad did.

It's not just because of his mistake yesterday, but thinking back I struggle to remember amazing saves or things he's done that have won us points, like you could say about Cech or De Gea or Lloris.

He is one of the best in the world. You seem to know Conte well.

I think that is very debatable right now, i haven't seen anything that would put him in the top 10 since he has been here. I'm just not seeing him do anything that any other keeper couldn't do.

Sorry but not even close.

I think that one performance against RM in the copa del ray final has vastly exagerrated Thibaut's talent.

He is a good keeper, but no where near close to the best in the world.

I still rate him...

Against Liverpool in the cup semi final, kept us in the first leg against PSG, fantastic save against Herrera in the nil nil game v United and you can pretty much take your pick of any game during the season where we won the league.

Never said the best but one of the best. There's a a lot of top keepers around.

Dont think Chelsea could get anyone better.

I'm struggling to see how he's one of the best too. I felt much more comfortable with Cech in goal, he seems more reliable and consistent than Courtois. 

I hope he proves us wrong though, and starts winning us points. I think he could have done better for the second goal yesterday. Don't blame him about the penalty.

Well I can say Tibo had a very good season when he had Cech as competition.
I feel as if he has so much potential, and he's still rather young for a goalkeeper so I really don't know where it would go but he has alot of good saves alot of games.

maybe if Conte will bench him for a bit he will wake up.

Unfortunately Courtois reminds me too much of Louis Theroux, he needs to take some steroids and pump up a bit, I don't see him particularly imposing or formidable in his box. Perhaps a beard might help, I think he will come good he has got a long goalie life ahead of him and hopefully Cudicini can give him some decent coaching. I'd probably rate him so far as good not excellent but I have confidence he will mature into excellent, fingers crossed.

My memory is evidently sh*te, I wonder how many Shed End MOTM's he's won though in the few years he's been here, seeing as Plokoon seems to be keeping track of it.

He didn't have much of a choice for the penalty incident. Somehow we had no one patrolling the middle of the pitch for that corner, JT was 10 yards behind the attacker, no way he would catch up even the attacker took an extra touch or two. Watching that cross, it actually took a turn just as Tibo going to get it, it was either brilliant play or sheer luck. He went for it but missed it, as usual the attacker made a meal out of it. He probably could have been closing it on the ball earlier, but that goal he conceded against Stoke still haunt him, he's pretty hesitant o leave the box these days. 

 

He's a quality GK, but a year or 2 to become 1 of the best

Tibo made an error on that penalty. He made a late and rash tackle. He had a choice of covering the goal and let Sigurdsson try to score and give our guys a second or two to run back. Before that he had nothing to do in the game as we controlled it totally. 

Have to say I'm not hugely impressed with him starting from last season. Still a quality keeper and glad we have him. 

If Hart is available in the summer I reallly think we should go for him. Cash in for Tibo, get a cheaper, homegrown keeper who organises his defence and is a very good shot stopper. Courtois isn't the keeper we hoped he would be. Yes he can still improve but I don't know if we can wait for him to improve, especially when our back 4 will undergo an overhaul in the next year or two. A reliable keeper throughout that time is a must if we want to regularly get champions league football

He isn't quality, he is just a good keeper.

Hart is dog. He makes silly errors ALL the time! His debut at Torino was almost as bad as Bravo's at City. His performance in the Euros was awful and there is a reason Pep had him shipped out the second he arrived. 

In Tibo we trust.
