Alvaro Morata

Featured Replies

Morata is an excellent finisher as we saw there but I think he struggles when he has to physically battle with defenders all game long. Drogba was master in that.

Morata's pace is good but his strenghts lies in his intelligent movement.

I still think he's nervous if I'm being honest, his first touch has been off, even look at the first goal he almost scruffed that first touch. At Juventus & Madrid I can't remember him ever having a bad touch, we're still yet to see him settle in.

Quite a lot of people have said he’s similar to Osgood, which can’t be a bad thing. I think he’s a legend in the making, great head, great feet, great movement, very intelligent footballer.

Yes, it's a player really intelligent, he alway is in good position for score. I just think that if he add little bit vice and more aggressivity in his game, he will become one of best striker in the world

i don't see why so many people are wishing for morata to develop a 'nasty side'. not only does it seem completely against morata's character, but i also don't see why it is necessary. henry, ronaldo (9), batistuta, drogba and many many more great strikers didn't have it - and didn't need it.

what morata needs to do is to develop his understanding with team mates (and vica versa), understanding of the league (that you don't get a free kick every time someone pushes you in the back) and further improve his technical and physical condition; all of which will come with time.

we don't need strikers who spit, elbows or tackles recklessely - more often than not they can't even spell the word tackle, let alone execute it. we need football players who contribute to our team, and morata has every tool available to him.

I think when people say aggressive I think they mean they want him to toughen up and stand his ground against defenders, like Drogba did.

Its unrealistic to expect Morata to do that on the same level but he does need to toughen up.

To be fair, it took even Drogba a while to figure out the physicality and decide to battle rather than fall over. As others say, he seems a very technically gifted and intelligent player, and if him scoring 6 in 6 is him settling in, then I'm very excited for when he is settled! :good2:

*Alvaro now has 7 goals in all competitions for Chelsea. It's still only September!

Imagine if he had played that game against Qarabag. He would already be in double figures, like Lukaku.

Always had faith in him, it's only September and he's fitting in already. Best signing we've made this season, upgrade on Costa.

One thing Diego failed to do was have an impact in Europe, he got a vital equaliser.

Blimey .....what's he gonna be like when he settles in.....he'll be banging in 6 goals a match then if he carry's on like this !

Well, I still think he's quite nervous, not so much this game, this game he just wasn't as clinical. The past few games though he's been scruffing his touches up despite still scoring goals, very impressive.

Frankie is starting to get a bit worried about Morata beating his scoring record.......I can see Morata getting at least 35 goals this season

35 goals is a very high target. Don't want to to set the standards too high but with how he is starting, who is to say he can't. Would be brilliant if he can get to 30 in all comps though. He a nightmare for defenders with his movement, pace, aerial ability and looks a real no.9

Alvaro Morata is who Fernando Torres was supposed to be for us.

Yes. I was thinking that a few times watching it last night. There is something about him that does evoke memories of Torres. Not sure what it is exactly. Thankfully, though, there's not much similarity beyond that.

(I think it's the upright running posture and the long neck. Similar build, too, and his being Spanish, of course.)
