Jose Mourinho thread

Featured Replies

It's funny how all these United journalists (there's a f**king lot of them) are coming out saying the press is against Mourinho, there's an agenda. Not one of them came out about this during his time at Chelsea.

Can you remember the campaign? We had about 3 penalties won that entire season, when we could have had about 20 legal penalties, Costa was constantly fouled in the box and wasn't getting any penalties since the Diego Costa crimes fiasco ran by Sky, and the Chelsea diving fiasco ran by Match Of The Day. Because one game we dived a lot, you know like Ashley Young when he was winning a penalty for United every week from a dive in the box. Everyone said Mourinho was going senile and people started to call him Maurene, he was constantly in the papers every week. I didn't see any journalist jump to his defence then like they're doing now.

I mean to be fair, it's kind of been solidified that no matter what Mourinho is a moaning bastard right or wrong. I never wanted him sacked from the club but I always remember it being a breath of fresh air when he did leave, particularly when that season was over and Conte came in. No more media circus, no more controversial comments and Jose taking the spotlight, now that he's gone to United he's taken all the controversy there with him.

If you're telling me you aren't enjoying this you're sick in the head or you're lying.

United fans tried to rub this in our faces for years, I'm loving the idea that this is Jose's worst spell ever at a club, I'm loving it and I'm not going to deny that.

I stopped enjoying anything to do with him a very long time ago! His tedious, sterile football is bad for footballl, full stop! As with Wenger, the game has left him behind but at least Wenger always thought about the fans and value for money. Jose only thinks about himself. Its just a job to him to make a ton of money and feed his giant ego.  He has never given a sh*t about football! I hope he goes soon and this to be the last time he ever manages over here. Lucky for him though,  on paper UTD have a string of "easy games" coming up and I expect them to get enough points to keep his job for a while longer.

I didn't particularly enjoy watching us play under Mourinho even during his first spell here but tolerated it because it was nice to be winning things. I also never took to his obnoxious personality so I have no sympathy for him now that his self-built 'Special One' mythology is finished. I don't really have any ill will towards him but if this means his time in England is coming to an end then I won't be shedding any tears.

It was nice of him to do a tribute to the late, great, Aretha Franklin, albeit a few weeks too late. Respect indeed.

He won't walk away, Utd will have to sack him, which is delicious as their fans were so smug over our managerial revolving door all these years.

Easy to keep the continuity going when you have a Fergie in charge, that will never happen again imo, so they better get used to replacing their manager every 3 years, unless they get Poch.

On a human level I feel sad that Mourinho has been reduced to this, he looks unhinged and on the verge of some sort of breakdown. He needs a break then a stint managing Portugal, to regain some balance.

i feel a bit sorry for him, he has been at the sharp end of football for what? 15 odd years, he should take a break and then why not go to a smaller club and try to bring them up and rediscover him self there, he must be more than financially secure for life and there would be none of the massive pressure he has been under. if his ego would allow it that is !!

I'm very much enjoying the misery of the United fans, after they spent 10 years criticizing chelsea and mourinho for buying titles, and boring football, only to fail spectacularly using a formula that brought us so much success.

I'm not enjoying Mourinho's fall from grace though, I will always remember Jose as that cocky us against the world mastermind, that stuck 2 fingers up to the rest of world football while winning us league titles.

Mourinho to United has only damaged both reputations further.

Everything is fine for mourinho when you give him what he wants and he usually delivers, the minute he doesn't get what he wants, results more dive.

The trouble now is what he wants, can no longer be trusted to deliver success. Too many poor decisions in transfer market.

His man management is also terrible now, constantly throwing players under the bus, and then wondering why said players are low on confidence, or don't leave everything on the pitch every week.

I think he needs to go into international management where his tactics will be more effective, he doesn't have the frustration of the transfer market, and he sells time to ruin relationships with players.

Sad times for a chelsea legend.

So much similarities between this and his last half season with us, the non-stop complain about the lack of transfers ( even complained about it last night), putting down his own players, playing defensive football, and just being joyless. Where's that cheerful Jose gone? He used to be fun, and let nothing affect him, now he's feeding the trolls with the way he's handling the media. Lose a game like that was bad, but to leave Sanchez out of the starting 11, not giving Rashford a chance, and relying on Fellani to rescue the game was pretty lethargic.

I think that was probably the right move. He's been awful for them. When Sanchez was on the move, and it wasn't yet decided where he'd go, I asked rhetorically, "do you really want him taking minutes from Sane at City or Martial at United?" -- Martial was on his best spell for United when Sanchez came in. It's no coincidence how poorly they've played since that transfer.

I text my Arsenal buddy after the 3-0 last night and said "I feel good for Alexis. He handled the winding down of his contract at Arsenal with such professionalism and class, that he deserves this success at United"

Sanchez runs around like a headless chicken and then pouts and blames his teammates when things don't go the way he thinks they should. Heck, I said he should have come to Chelsea. He would have loved playing in Conte's 8-1-1. He could try and do everything himself up top.

But getting back to your point... Herrera at Center Back, Martial and Bailly not even in the 18, Rashford can't find any minutes... tactically and technically, they got it wrong.

But benching Sanchez isn't one of those mistakes, IMHO

Jose should have spent his summer learning football instead of moaning. His football has come to an end. In England you u cannot compete with his style. Well in all honesty you can but I can see their star players don't like to do so.

To think many Chelsea fans were fearful when Jose went to United, believing he would be backed with unlimited funds and dominate the English game for seasons to come.

We'll always have those great memories of the happy and successful times under Jose. But boy was that a different Jose.

Whatever his issues are these days (and there appear to be many), he just looks a complete shell of the man he once was. Needs a complete break from the game and then maybe take an International job with much less pressure where he won't have to be obsessed about transfers and budgets. When he first went to United I was quite happy to watch things go wrong but now it is a bit too uncomfortable viewing - a bit like watching a once great boxer trying to turn back the clock but failing miserably.

I want to see him at Utd. I want to know before i die, what happens if Jose is not fired after the 3rd season and is retained for the 4th ? Does the clock wind back to one meaning he will win in his second (6th season) season or will his 4th season be worse than the 3rd and Uts will get relegated ?

Surely i am not the only one with these thoughts ? Somebody else must be  curious and would rather find the answer to those questions on another team ? Anybody ? Just me ? OK then !!

From the limited evidence of Jose starting a season 4, i would have to guess his 4th season would be worse. At the time of his 1st departure we all assumed he would have turned it around because he was Mourinho, but given how he's dealt with bad periods since in hindsight i don't think he would have. Looking back the team he left in 2007 could still defend, but the attack was everybit as disjointed as the one he left second time around (we scored three PL goal from in seven games before appointing Ten Cate and one was a pen).

I just think things in England have changed so much. New superclubs, completely different style of football, different way of thinking, young players want to be led in a different way.

Jose is still a top manager but maybe 2 seasons away from football would do him good.

I have no grudge against him. Still a great character in football and charismatic person.

The last half season Jose made pretty much every players worse than the season before, with the exception of Willian or Zouma in my memory. Looks like he's replicating that right now. I don't think he will be gone even if he loses this weekend, and it should be an easy game against a tiring team. Teams like United love the morale high ground, they don't want to seen as ruthless in handling their managers, even Nevill said that.

Same here, at the end of the day we sacked him, he can go where he wants, the whole Judas stuff was pathetic.

I still think to this day a lot of players were at fault for not listening to the manager we employed, despite a lot of outdated methods he's using. I want someone to correct me if I'm wrong here but I can't remember Jose going to the press and putting down players in his first stint here? Can you guys? If somebody has an old quote or article please send it my way. I always remember him protecting our players, like with Drogba when he got sent off against Barcelona, he completely attacked Frank Rijkaard in influencing that decision. It looks to me that the latest Jose Mourinho is an absolute shadow of his former self.

I'm thinking Jose should take some time off, Pep did after Barcelona, you could see that he was stressed and needed some time off, Mourinho should do the same and start elsewhere. However the man isn't a quitter, I expect him to keep doing what he's doing until he drives United into the ground and they have no choice but to sack him.

Lets hope they stick to that moral highground indefinitely.

Did anyone actually call him judas? I was sitting not far away from him and i heard nothing, coincidently around that time the "Antonio" chants were ringing round, I'd bet anything the 3 finger sign was a reaction to that.

Perhaps, Jose's words for it.

I thought I would be happy seeing his meltdown, but it's sad our greatest manager is reduced to telling report's about the league titles he won with us while being in the "So called job he wanted" all along

Honestly Jose did some amazibg stuff in Porto but he has always had a bad character and not an attitude that you should admire, even during his first times with Chelsea...

...As he has won more and grew older his bad traits increased.

Football managers citing Hegel's dialectics. This is truly a golden age.

I am the manager of one of the greatest clubs in the world but I am also one of the greatest managers in the world. Did you read any philosopher or in your education you never spent time reading Hegel? Just as an example, Hegel says the truth is in the whole, is always in the whole. Do you ask that question to the manager that finished third in the Premier League or fourth? I had last season great success. I had great success last season that’s what you probably don’t want to admit. I analyse my performance, myself and for me is more important what I think that what you think. I repeat that two seasons ago we had a fantastic season by winning the Europa League, this season and last everybody thought Atlético Madrid amazing because they won the Europa League after being knocked out of the Champions League. We won the Europa League because that was our level. We are the last team in England to win a European cup. And last season, I repeat, I won eight titles, I am the only manager in the world that won Italy, Spain and England and by winning eight titles, not small titles or countries, my second position last season is one of my greatest achievements in football. I think.

Funny how at one point he was mocking Chelsea as a whole (Not just Benitez) for winning the Europa League saying that he would be disappointed if he had won that since at the time it was a small competition for him because now he is talking how that was some fantastic stuff when he won it a few years back!

As long as he needs to point out about his past and as long as he can't brag about his present, I'm fine with him going deeper in his own delusions.
