August 31, 20178 yr Did not see us missing out on him. He was conte's man after all. Guess nothing should surprise our negotiations seem a mess.
August 31, 20178 yr Funny, seems like many would now be relieved to sign this guy today when not far back this window it was a case of not wanting him...... if the board have excelled at anything this window, it has been dampening the expectations of the fans. Lets hope the manager is on a different page.
August 31, 20178 yr Supposedly this is not a done deal yet and we may still try to hijack the move. We shall see

August 31, 20178 yr I don't think this one will go through. If he's Conte's man and we have left it till he has had a spurs medical then it's past rescue.

August 31, 20178 yr Well someone here said AOC was passing his medical at Chelsea hours before he went to the dippers...
August 31, 20178 yr Think Llorente will come but we'll wait until Bony deal is done and then make a move...
August 31, 20178 yr Gone to Spurs now - pictures all over twitter of him in a Tottenham shirt next to his brother. Edited August 31, 20178 yr by 2211
August 31, 20178 yr Tough break this. Would have been good to lock him down. Means Michy is staying and hopefully he can find the level. Mildly disappointed we didn't do another deal with Torino tonight for a certain rooster...

September 1, 20178 yr Two humiliations in two days. Losing squad type players to Liverpool and Tottenham. Can't even agree a mere 15 million pound fee. Next time, maybe Burnley will outbid Marina for a youngster. Utter disgrace!!
September 1, 20178 yr Disappointed and annoyed with this, the club had been linked with Llorente so long - since way back in January at the start of the year, then after it being implied practically all summer we would get him and bolster our squad, thought it was a done deal, then on deadline day at the end of August we see spurs grab him instead. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't part of a pattern this summer - the board letting so many players slip through our fingers and go to other big six teams is so frustrating! Still, Llorente made his choice too, think it is likely to prove the wrong one as the future reveals itself - time will tell!
September 1, 20178 yr Football fans just love finding a reason to moan. I got absolutely hammered left, right and centre on here all summer for saying we should sign Llorente and loan Batshuayi out. Now some of the same people are up in arms because clearly the board decided to stick rather than twist. I'm disappointed not to have signed him and I think he'd have gotten more playing time with us than he will at Spurs.
September 1, 20178 yr This is the transfer equivalent of missing an open goal from two yards out...so makes you wonder whether board really wanted to back conte on this deal...
September 1, 20178 yr Conte probably did a bit of that himself with some of the players the board were trying to give him.
September 1, 20178 yr It is not so much on missing out on signing Llorente or even that he went to Spurs that bothers me. Any decent back up striker would have been fine so we could have loaned Batman, preferably to a PL club, so he could develop and Morata would have been covered.
September 3, 20178 yr Llorente is old, immobile, and not better than Michy. I don't even know why we were in for him.
September 3, 20178 yr Sunday Supplement guys are going on about how Spurs is more attractive for players and that Llorente choosing them over us backs that up. But point is he didn't, we didn't match the Spurs bid. We never had a bid accepted. Honestly the media will spin anything.
September 3, 20178 yr Did we really make a bid for another Moratta when we already had one? Maybe we were only interested up to the point that Conte got the type of forward he wanted in the bag!
September 4, 20178 yr Giving Spurs a quality sub is my biggest worry. He is also better than Batshuayi. Could have helped once Morata goes through goal droughts. Edited September 4, 20178 yr by GreatBlue222
