August 25, 20205 yr Looks like this is about to be completed as well. Feels like we are back in 2004 😃 Low-risk signing so why not.

He could become a very good bargaining chip at the very least. If he does stay, then he is a decent option at centre back and left back, and if we do ever play a 3, he would be great at left centre back Did occur to me that he might get wrapped into a package for Declan Rice ... West Ham were supposedly very interested in signing Sarr ... so maybe we offer them a bit of cash, a couple of players outright and a loan for Sarr ... ? Hopefully he will get a chance in pre-season to stake a claim to be part of our squad though ... assuming he does actually sign. With an ability to play CB or left back, he sounds like the left footed centre back that we don't have 🙂

August 25, 20205 yr So that's two free transfers on one experienced defender, and one defender with a lot of potential. That's excellent business that. Honestly, we should be looking to get rid of Christensen and Rudiger at this point.

While you could argue that it will hopefully push them further, my fear is that they may get despondent and their careers begin fade away. IMO if you’re an academy player and your morale drops from other players arriving then you don’t have the mental toughness to compete at the top level. I expect frank to still give youth a chance and those that are good won’t drop their game because of new arrivals

Imagine partnership of SILVA AND ZOUMA against Bayern Munich in the champions league next season, or partnership of SILVA AND RUDIGER in the champions league next season, who do u go for? To me this looks like a very clever signing, i hope we're planning on using him and not shipping him straight out. A left footed CB that can play out from the back and cover out wide when needed. If we're already selling Emerson i see no reason why Alonso can't go too. Much like City now have with Ake, Sarr would give us cover at CB and LB. Made even better by the fact he's completely free. We have Juan Castillo back to from Ajax.
August 26, 20205 yr I really wish people would stop saying transfers are confirmed when they're not. This guy is still a free agent, and we have also not yet signed Thiago Silva or Havertz. I don't really care for recycled gossip from publicity seeking gobsh*tes on Twitter. Trying to keep on top of all this nonsense is giving me a headache.

But can we at least start the discussion on their squad numbers (and obviously include Messi in this, will he pick 25, I wonder)? Edited August 26, 20205 yr by Valerie

God that’s another thing Twitter does, I mean I may have been guilty in the past... but I’m going to overlook that hypocrisy because I was young(ish). Lets sign the player before we assign them numbers eh? Big fat ol’ jinxing twerps.

August 27, 20205 yr It's official. 5 year contract and will be immediately go on loan. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/08/27/sarr-signs-on Edited August 27, 20205 yr by Erdal1905
August 27, 20205 yr Will head out on loan. This was a no-brainer for Chelsea. If he develops at all, he should be an 8 figure asset. Brilliant business, and thank you Malang Sarr for agreeing.
August 27, 20205 yr I hope he becomes world class one day, exciting prospect. I wonder where he will go on loan, Germany?
August 27, 20205 yr Could be a very good signing in a couple of years. I can't find to which club he will be loaned, does anybody know? Hopefully a bit more substantial than Vitesse
