Who needs Sergi Roberto or Kovacic? Danny Drinkwater's where it's at.

Please god don't spend money on drinkwater. I'd rather spend 30 on Ross Barkley and thats saying something. 

At this rate we could do with anyone half capable to fill a place in the team. Could be worse? Not sure who is gonna play CM next game alongside Kante with Fabregas now on a ban.

Lose 3-2 at home to Burnley and we have a thread about buying bloody Danny Drinkwater.

Drinkwater is a classic signing for us in the tradition of Steve Sidwell and Scott Parker. Just the match winning quality needed when you've had your ass handed to you on a plate at home to Burnley. I hope we sign Charlie Adam too. And I wonder if Joey Barton fancies a game for us?

I wouldn't doubt there will be some forummers arguing to benefits of signing Charlie Adam if the club was looking at him.  Such are the current standards.

A lot of negativity here. Drinkwater is a good player. I would be concerned if we were targeting him as our star midfielder, but he's certainly decent enough as a squad option. 

He's not better than Matic who we sold. We should be replacing a outgoing player with one who is at least as good as them.

He is not a good player, he is f**** average, and even below that level.

The Champions should not look at such players, even for a depth.

Completely agree, but unfortunately feel like we're in such a position now where I'm actually hopeful we sign him. Why we weren't all over Renato Sanches I don't know. People said he wouldn't get game time or wasn't good enough, now we're likely to play Luiz in CM against Spurs.

The replacement for Matic is Bakayoko, we are looking for a replacement for Chalobah  

Drinkwater is replacing Chalobah.

Are people expecting us to sign the likes of Nainggolan (I know he's signed a contract before someone says) for him to be sitting on the bench?

Whilst I think our dealings have been poor, lets not pretend that Drinkwater is being bought to be in our starting XI.

 

We need to hurry up and get this one wrapped up, with no Fabregas or Bakayoko against Spurs we'll have to put him straight in

Drinkwater is squad purchase. Bakayoko is the replacement for Matic. I understand though that we should only have sold Matic when we had purchased cover.

Various sources saying we bid 15m already and may go back in with 25m soon. But in this climate especially, and knowing how desperate we are, Leciester are highly unlikely to settle for anything sort of 35-40m, which is far too much for a player of his ability anyway, but with how slow we are to get things done, we could be looking at waiting until deadline day anyway. I mean even with Bakayoko a fairly simple transfer, it somehow took most of the summer.

I think we should be signing players who are at least near as damn it to the first 11 level. We used to have players fighting for a place in the 11, not a nailed on 11 and second 11 of also rans hanging around waiting for an injury or suspension. All players should have to be fighting for their place day in day out. It's crazy spending 25 million on a player we actually hope we never have to resort to playing because he's not actually good enough.

Drinkwater is a decent player, a very good squad option to have. Him and Kante in midfield has won the league ffs!

Enough with the snobbery guys, I don't think we can ask for a better midfielder to fill in 4th spot.

Who would you rather see, Barkley? You're having a f*cking laugh, he can't tackle to save his life. He'll make our midfield even a bigger liability than Fabregas.

Tom Cleverley has won the league too.  Why not sign him as well? The squad needs a central midfielder that can fight for a first team place rather than some frigging average player who has had one good season in his entire career.  That's how Low the club has sunk to.

Unfortunately now we are happy with average players...our board is so f**ked up now...no proper buys at all...never got what conte wanted..its really strange..this sh*t is not fair for us nor for conte...we are the champions for god sake

Drinkwater's a good squad buy, I'm certain if matic was still here most would want Drinkwater to replace him in the squad.

Hmm I think we all would have Matic over Drinkwater. As poor as Matic was flr large periods of time its obvious hes a far superior footballer to Danny Drinkwater
