May 4, 20224 yr CHO was very promising under Sarri...that injury changed him. He's not the same anymore. So disappointing.

May 18, 20224 yr Quote Calf/Shin/Heel Injury May 18: "He just dropped out of the squad from one day to another. He's still in individual training. He will come earlier in pre-season, like Ben Chilwell, to come back on July 2 with team training."

He also suffered a calf injury on that same leg. I just really hope we loan him next season. Not good enough to start for us and shouldn't be wasting his time on the bench when he needs to develop.
June 6, 20224 yr According to Simon Phillips CHO is at Cobham everyday putting in extra training. In an effort to be ready early for preseason, to impress TT and @Argo , he has also hired his own dietician, doctor and personal trainers. Now if only Lukaku showed such effort....

Erm, didn't CHO join early last summer as well?

The person he most needs to hire is Mike Tyson. Teach him how to fight.

We all know he doesn't need to impress Argo.

I like the idea of him solely as a RW. He can provide width whilst James can be an inverted wing back (another #10 when in attack) Simply predictable in his play as a LW.
June 6, 20224 yr I'm quietly optimistic about CHO I feel had he not injured he would have continued to play a part in the first team seeing plenty of opportunities. What I like about CHO is he will play wherever TT asks. Also if he plays WB that means we have 4 attacking players on at the same time. Between CHO and Emerson that is wingback cover imo sorted for the most part with maybe an addition from the academy like Sterling. I hope he has a good pre season and really kicks on. I can imagine any striker would love having CHO and Dembele either side of them delivering balls into the box and then add in James and Chilwell's delivery and we could really be dangerous next season.

If we are to stick with this set up, I think that is the only way it would work. (But again, we are banking on our wingbacks to be 100% as they are the key to this becoming effective) Line up like this in the attacking phase. Mendy Kounde Silva Colwill Jorginho Kovacic James Chilwell CHO Havertz Dembele

You're always quietly optimistic about all our players Longtime. Even total flops like Werner. We might have to start calling you Marina!
June 7, 20224 yr If we have him and Dembele starting and the striker still can't score we just need to accept that the position is cursed. Two unbelievable creators the striker should have a field day.

I'm sorry but CHO defensively is worse than TAA, and not nearly as good offensively. This is only logical if you are determined to shoehorn CHO into the side, the reality is his highest ceiling will never be realized as a wingback.
June 12, 20224 yr There is a reason Emerson only featured a total of like 15 minutes under Tuchel in 2021 and why CHO at wingback experiment died immediately. To suggest they are all of a sudden good enough as sub options for Chilwell and James will only end in tears.
June 12, 20224 yr Emerson is decent for a squad player. European Champion with Italy and he was their first choice left back

European Champion with Italy and he was their first choice left back No he wasn't, he played the final due to injury and true to form the goal game from his side. He was also caught wildly out of position late on when Chilleni had to cover his backside and save a likely goalscoring opportunity by bringing Saka down. It's mindblowing that there's still debate around this guy, he's a depressingly ordinary player who shouldn't be anywhere near the set up next season in any capacity.
June 12, 20224 yr 7 minutes ago, Sconnie Blue said: Lyon fans also didn’t rate him. Quite telling that. The fact Alonso always got back in within weeks every time Emerson got a shot (due to Marcos being on bad form) under multiple different managers should have been more than enough evidence in itself. If we're refusing to invest in a new left back this summer then keep Marcos, promote Maatsen or use Gallagher as a Zinchenko/Delph/Milner inverted type, anything but bringing Emerson back.
