The quality of thier subs to ours are light years ahead....thr board need to show ambition and respect for the fans and do high level signing...pusilic...lamar... are still available we need to go for them

With Conte saying the players are tired it is obvious we dont have the squad for a deep cup run. The sooner we get knocked out the better so we can focus on the most important thing TOP 4

Yeah I'm sure Drinkwater was stuffed after his champions league game. Starting with baka when Danny played so well last game is a mystery.

Well I do agree that top 4 is the main priority, I still think the league cup is achievable and I'd rather not drop out of it with 3 games to the final.

Of course the tired was a reason why we lost today, players missed lot of passes, lack of concentration, even Hazard wasn't good today. Lost this game was not important if we didn't lost against Burnley and Palace, because West ham do a great performance, already last week against Man.City, so for them it's derby, they got 1 week complete for rest, they was ready for struggle.

Like a said before the game, Fabregas need to be rest in this game... But Conte keep up, with the same XI, game after game like he didn't a bench with Pedro or Willian, or Michy

Poor show today, bad start to the weekend seeing us capitulate like that, especially to that lot, one of our worst performances this season.

The team has got to bounce back quickly, got Huddersfield away on Tuesday night, and they will be up for it after they won over Brighton today, and seeing we lost so poorly today. With games coming thick and fast in December now, it is going to be a real test of physical and mental strength for the team, can't let this blip today turn into a slump now.

Very depressing, we have to take advantage of the Manchester derby and we’ve failed to do that. Looks like we’ll be contending with Arsenal and Liverpool then, if our squad is getting this tired something is wrong.

That just tells me Hazard wasnt up for it. The whole team was tired and f**king Conte shud have known this..

Greatly disappointed at loosing this match .......however life doesn't always run smooth.... we must man up....take it on the chin and move on......and plan our sweet revenge ......there's a good chance that spammers ( as we know spammers always turn up for London Derbies) ....will beat the arse in the carabao cup and we ( if we can get past Bournemouth !!!! ) .....get drawn to play spammers in the semi final and "smash em good and proper"......and then we go onto to smash man ure in the final at Wembley! .........Come on the Chels ......

You can put the blame on conte, you can put the blame on the board and our summer signings but come on guys and ladies do any of us really believe they have the required impact to cause us to lose and play THAT abysmally to garbage like palace and west ham?

Did the the team picked not have enough quality to win? Surely they did right? So just not enough fight or care.

Seems to be a repeat issue with our players every few seasons or so...

Chelsea need a new winger to give some more creativity to the team. Need some competition for Alonso, never offers anything attacking wise in open play.

Morata has to score that , an average forward would have . Also missed a good opportunity against AM to win us the game , quite concerned with his finishing.

Majority of people on this thread have summed it up, whenever we have a Champions League game midweek we are dreadful on the weekend. 

We can't make so many excuses for it because other teams don't seem to be suffering from it that much. But it's pretty damn evident that we are lacking depth, currently Alonso cannot be benched because we have no one to cover him, that was never a good idea. 

This game for me was the final nail in the coffin when it comes to the title challenge. I'm not saying City & United aren't going to drop points and we can't gain, but it's the lack of consistency with our team right now, whenever we play in two competitions a week you see the difference and it's really bad. Top 4 really isn't good enough to be aiming for and we shouldn't be happy with it, no reason why we shouldn't be up there with City after last season. 

I also agree with @Davey Baby we appear to lack the quality, United & City have upgraded and we need someone to play next to Hazard. Have we really upgraded? Really? Besides Morata I don't think we have, Bakayoko is not an upgrade on Matic (that's f**king depressing because Matic was diabolic), Christensen looks awesome but David Luiz was world class last season. I don't see how we've upgraded, we should have been in the market for another attacker, although hindsight helps.

Here lies the problem, we have brought players in,these though are generally replacements like for like. The last time we genuinely upgraded the squad with the purchase of Fabregas and Costa. If we want to stay competitive we have to upgrade after every season, if we don't the board and Roman have to be realistic about our goals.

Shame this season is looking like a write off already.

We should be building a side around Hazard instead of relying on him to salvage games for us.

We really screwed up the last transfer window big time. It might haunt us for a long time.

 

I knew we weren't going to retain the league going into the season, but losing to such dross is just unacceptable. How have we managed to lose to both Crystal Palace and West Ham? Getting beat by Roy Hodgson and David Moyes is really hard to take.

Losing games against crap sides and using the excuse as being tired is pissing me off. They are very highly paid/fit athletes, and to play two games of football in a week to me is no excuse tor turn in a poor gutless performance against poor opposition.

crikey....guess what, it was a derby, they got the early goal & were smart & disciplined in protecting their lead in conditions to suit. We're a bit thin squad wise - have been for some years & we'd played mid-week. This 'crap' side & 'poor' opposition perspective...I mean really. They're in the EPL, there's no love lost between us & under Moyes they're now having a go - look at their effort against City the other week - not too shabby. Get some perspective for f**k sakes.

The game certainly put a dampener on Saturday for me.  However, the sun still came up this morning...

We were on a hiding to nothing after the early goal - two banks of five defending way deep are tough to break down.  Although to be fair WHUFC didn't totally park the bus and still had a bit of a go.

I thought WHUFC were tactically astute and maybe 90% of the time following the goal they resisted Tibo's draw them out passes to our back three and then when that didn't work our (somewhat erratic) long balls from Tibo were simply gobbled up by a collection of six foot plus opposition vs our much shorter midfield maestros.

On the occasions we did draw them out we broke so very slooooowly and then tried to run straight through a solid mass of WHUFC players.  Unless you have a lump like Costa to batter your way through or very fast wingers who can put a ball onto eg Moratas head with pinpoint accuracy time after time then there was no way we were ever going to break through.

Hoping for better on Tuesday!
