January 15, 20188 yr Conte needs to get the boys scoring again and then the club wouldn't need to go looking for alternative goal scoring avenues. Three 0-0 in a row?

I doubt he'd suddenly learn how to move intelligently, dribble, pass or run with the ball just because he moves to another club. The better question is, will he start banging them in if he goes to City, United, Bayern or Barca? Of course they aren't interested in him in the first place, but even in a hypothetical scenario where he suddenly leads the line for any of these top clubs, do you really see him succeeding? He's got too many limitations to his game at this point in time. There's still a chance for Michy to develop into a better footballer but it can only happen if he plays regularly and it won't be at Chelsea because top clubs don't bet on potential, the stakes are too high. Look at Morata, a few weeks ago everybody was raving about him, a few poor performances, and suddenly fans turn on him. That's the pressure of playing for a top club. Batshayi isn't ready. The real problem is, why we haven't replaced him in the summer when it was obvious that Conte has absolutely no use for him.
January 15, 20188 yr West Ham doesn't want a loan move, only a permanent transfer. According to Simon Johnson.https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-loan-move-for-andy-carroll-set-to-fail-as-west-ham-will-only-consider-a-permanent-transfer-a3739966.html
January 15, 20188 yr In all seriousness, what's Carroll and West Ham's incentive to accept this deal? He's going to warm the bench most of the time, and We aren't friends with them by a long way.
January 15, 20188 yr Can't believe it has come to this..... Desperate times it seems calls for desperate measures. From a skillset perspective (ie a big lump to hold up the ball or head it in) I could probably accept and get behind it. But his injury record is sad and we would be foolish to rely on him. We had one crook back up in Remy...why get another?

January 15, 20188 yr If we're serious about this, someone who can actually deliver a cross is required too.
January 15, 20188 yr So Sanchez to United and PEA to Arsenal. Meanwhile we’re trying to get Carroll on a loan. The football world will be laughing at us.
January 15, 20188 yr Good signing imo. Cheap, HG, CL eligible... if you actually watch the way we play having someone for Azpi, Alonso, Bakayoko to bounce the ball off and down to Hazard etc would work brilliantly. So long as we get some elite talent in in the summer.

Carroll could be an effective player. We try to play direct to Morata quite often but his hold up play has been sub-par, especially with his back to goal. As you say Carroll would probably bring the ball down well and bring Hazard or the fullbacks into play. I think Azpi, Alonso, Fabregas could utilise Carroll's size and strength quite well, especially playing into packed defences. But it's the big question of how likely is Carroll to manage to stay fit, especially with games coming twice a week at the moment. He's likely to only be an option coming on for the last 20 minutes or so but his injury record is woeful and even as a loan signing seems like a gamble, especially if we're allowing Michy to go to Seville for the remainder of the season too.
January 15, 20188 yr Aren't we looking to buy someone because Morata can only seem to score with his head? So the answer is to buy Andy Carroll, who only scores with his head.... Besides, the only person that can put a decent ball in in our team is Azpi and he's been man marked the last few games.
January 15, 20188 yr It's happening.. hahahahahah. Welcome to Chelsea, Andy. Our Champions league X-factor.
January 15, 20188 yr Oh dear. Since the summer we signed Costa and Fabregas, our signings have been downhill. Wtf is going on? And we've spent a fortune too. Wouldn't it be better to buy a few quality players than spend a fortune on bang average players?
January 15, 20188 yr I think there's some wishful thinking about Carroll's hold up play. He hasn't got the touch or finesse to link up with hazard. He will win headers all day from long diagonal balls, and crosses into to the box, which is fine when you are chasing a goal, but if he has to start games for us, I don't want to see azpilicueta launching balls over a midfield worth £400m. I want to see us get on ball play the sort of football befitting of the league champions. There used to be a time when chelsea managers had shevchenko or Torres forced on them. How times have changed!
January 15, 20188 yr It does seem like we are genuinely interested, but only in a loan deal. Supposedly Hammers are only interested in a permanent deal so this doesn't look too likely to happen at the moment
January 15, 20188 yr “You can’t have him on a loan, but you can have him for 20m.” ”No thanks.” A few days later ”You can have him for 35m” ”It’s a deal!”
January 15, 20188 yr Author "Chelsea are frugal, they're unwilling to overpay for players such as Sandro" "West Ham want £35m for Andy Carroll"
