Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

Just caught a glimpse on it - 2nd place with Bordeaux, then in his second year champion and cup winner, and came out on the top in Champions league group with Juventus and Bayern. All of this with Bordeaux. Then it was France job is ungrateful and risky as every other national football team job. Conte also didn't win a s**t but they praised him. And yes, France also didn't have a good generation at that particular moment. Then PSG job where he didn't screw up. They still can't win the Champions league.

He is not that bad.

Conte came top of his Euro 2016 group including beating Belgium and then beat Spain in the first knockout round, going on to only lose to Germany on penalties; slightly more impressive than Blanc only ever managing to beat Ukraine.

If topping a Champions League group against Bayern and Juventus in 2009-2010 (when they were both in incredibly weak moments compared to the teams they are now) then going straight out to Lyon in the next round is his most glorious moment then I fear for the standards you envision at Chelsea.

Honestly if we look at Zidane, that had no previous winnings as a manager when he took Real Madrid, to win 3 Champions league titles along with a La-Liga title + all those smaller cups is amazing.

I wish we could make something special with our own Jokanovic, like winning Europa league again with our own past player that turned coach.

But even if we don't get him, maybe in some years Frankie can take that role after learning some new tricks as the new boss at Derby.

Meanwhile West Ham have made an agreement for Pastore... what is he, expensive? Old? Non talented?

All of the above plus not what we need right now. He is not better than Cesc as a playmaker and he is just as defensively enept.

Granted he is better than Barkley but we really should be aiming higher than the likes of Pastore, whether we do is a different matter.

He is infinitely better than this version of Cesc. Faster, able to dribble, to score goals.

I don't want to go deep with this particular player, it was just an example that not everybody is sleeping. And the name Pastore itself tells us a lot more about the ambition of some club than Drinkwater, Barkley, Emerson or Giroud.

Jokanovic is a great coach. Fulham have been the best footballing side for the past 2 years in the championship and deserved promotion last season. Heads and shoulders above the rest of the dross in that league along with Wolves but I would say Fulham play the more possession based style. They also have a lot of youngsters so a fairly inexperienced squad.

Sarri managed Empoli before Napoli and earned them promotion as well before landing the Napoli job. Would be interesting to see what Jokanovic would be able to do with better funds.

Blanc rumoured to be close to being appointed according to a couple of outlets today.

A red herring from the club to distract from the negativity around prolonged Sarri negotiations or have we moved on in hopes of making an appointment to allow us to kick in with preparing for the new season?

I think the sarri thing is dead tbh.

If it is true that it fell through over €8m, then I think that is very disappointing if he was 1st choice.

Money must be very very tight. Can you imagine us pulling out on a key player because we wouldn't pay an €8m buy out clause.

It doesn't bode well for transfers, so it could be a tough season for Blanc, Conte or whoever.

I'm just saying, don't you think it's kinda ironic how a manager who is supposedly racist towards black players, has a last name that literally translate to "White"

We’ve spent so much money on compensation deals since Roman took over the club.

£14m for AVB alone, only to sack him the same year.

Probably £8m for sacking Jose recently, now we’re looking at a further £9m for releasing Conte and then a further £8m to bring in Sarri.

Knocking on £20m just for a change of manager is a huge outlay before you’ve even got started on player recruitment...

We would have known what Sarri was going to cost us but typical of Chelsea we probably thought we could strike a deal, like we’ve seen with player negotiations in recent years.

I can’t help thinking half the reason we’re interested in Blanc and Enrique is because they’re not currently under contract.

Possibly although Enrique's reported wage demands would be morr expemsive than paying Sarri's release over the length of the contract.

Who knows what is true. We seem like we are very reluctant to spend, but then you look how much we spent on drinkwater, who was never going to be a regular for us, and it really is baffling.

With Sarri the attraction is him implementing a great style, one that the media have alleged Roman has craved for years, yet we still cant find an extra €8m.

Maybe if it was a choice of sticking with conte or bringing in sarri, I think you could perhaps understand us not wanting to shell out €20m, but conte looks like he's going either way.

Strange times. Hopefully the rumours are true about marina coming back from holiday tomorrow, and we see some clarity towards The end of the week. However I doubt the integrity of the reports since it seems absurd for her to be away during such busy period, with no dof, and roman out of the picture.

Fingers crossed we get a manager wrapped up or make a statement saying we’re sticking with Conte this week.

The club need to move on and start planning for next season.

If we got Blanc, it would feel like another short term and convienent appointment. He wouldn’t move forward playing style wise and essentially a stop gap. It’s pretty much confirmed that we have interviewed Blanc so makes me think we’re not really interested in him otherwise he would have been appointed by now if he was first choice  - which he clearly isn’t

Hopefully its just fake rumours that the club have put out to put pressure on Napoli to lower their price for Sarri.

That said, if it’s not sorted soon, I can see the club walking away.
