Zappa offers a lot more speed, plus I kinda feel like Moses doesn't cross as much anymore, or at least not as often.

Agree about the pace. In all fairness, i'm not too fussed which one of them starts down that side. Certainly should look for an upgrade somewhere down the line.

Anything worse than a 2-1 loss will mean we are out.  I think realistically, if everything goes right, we will be playing for a 1-0 win.  Sit back, hit them on the counter...it seems to be our strategy against every team we play that is a bit better than we are.  will be very nervy playing that way against one of the strongest attacks in the world...

We will spend most of the match defending let's hope when we get our chances we take it anyone if they score more than two goals we are out pretty much. Past encounters we had a team of fighter's sadly apart from one or two player's now I don't see that.

Huh, you learn something new everyday.

Just like modern day football, historic battles were made up of many nationalities on both sides.

I would much rather we were playing against last years Barcelona than this years. They were very beatable last year, now they are back to their best, which means it's going to have to be one of those mega performances from every player on the pitch.

Come on Chelsea, give us 3 goals in 15 minutes like in 2005, give my heart a break

Some head-to-head stats from the BBC to raise morale around here! :

Match stats

  • Chelsea and Barcelona are facing each other for the 13th time in the Champions League, the fifth-most played fixture in the competition.
  • The London club are unbeaten in their last seven Champions League games against Barcelona (won two, drawn five).
  • Barcelona have won only one of their six away games against Chelsea in the Champions League and they have never kept a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.
  • Chelsea will attempt to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2013/14 - they are winless in their last six knockout games.
  • Barcelona have reached the Champions League semi-finals only once in the last four seasons.
  • Barcelona were one of four teams to remain unbeaten in this season's Champions League group stages, alongside Besiktas, Liverpool and Tottenham.
  • They also have the best defensive record in the Champions League this season, conceding only one goal in six games.
  • Luis Suarez has failed to score in the last 791 minutes of play in the Champions League, his longest drought in the competition.
  • Eden Hazard has scored three goals and delivered two assists in his last five Champions League games.

starting to get nervous/excited for this now.

It's amazing how little I actually enjoy these big games, I spend the entire 90 minutes anxiously wanting us to score, nervously waiting for the final whistle, or angrily cursing a bad day at the office.

United at home last season was the last time a big game was comfortably won so early on, I could sit back and enjoy a big victory.

I would say any type of defeat and we are out. In the past we have draw or lost at the nou camp but never won there. If we go their needing to win the tie is already done imo. Why it is imperative we don't lose tonight.

Hi lads, city fan here just looking for advice. I’m in London tonight for business, staying in Kensington, and wanted to know where would be good to watch the game with a good atmosphere? I reckon you’ll do well tonight. Oh, and don’t give me too much stick about last night’s result haha

I mean it as if there is a slim chance we can go in there and get a good result if we lose 2-1 tonight.  like, 10% chance we could go and get a 2-0 result or 2-1 and win pens.  But yes if we do lose tonight it will be very tough to go to CN and get a victory.

I am hoping for the best....

We've got Pedro and Cesc on our side. Hazard at his best. Morata finding form. Azpi, Christensen, Cahill/Rudiger is a good trio. Kante winning battles.

We are not that bad to be honest. Hope we have a great night here.

Back when we had massive characters in the squad like Lamps, JT and Drogba I didn't really fear anyone. They were always capable of pulling something special out of the hat and motivating the rest. Sadly, we don't have characters like this anymore. Can't help but fear the worst.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong. COYB
