Quick and incisive. No better team in the world at defending with a low block than Juventus. And following on from my last post, look at it before you even start the clip running. Who is marking the player standing in acres of space at the edge of the D? That is God awful defensive cover. Edited February 1, 20197 yr by just

That's how Bournemouth scored the second goal, Bonucci forgot about the player he was covering went forward to the ball and when the pass came back Hamisk was totally free. Just like Rudiger left his player went to the other and then Brooks was totally free while D.Luiz was trying to run back.

I’m hoping Sarri is doing something like 2 touch football training this week, and telling everybody the rule is two touch, no more. It’d stop Hazard etc from dribbling too much. 2 touch football and always forward. See how it works out. 3 hours ago, just said: Christ on a bike. Best defending in the world my butt. Stop the video at 9 seconds. What do you see? That might David Luiz in the middle of those three. I was going to say something similar. The defending is woeful. People need to realise that Serie A is not the Premier League. Look at Juventus in that video, there is very little pressing, the whole of the midfield is standing off and letting Napoli play. Nobody is even attempting to make things difficult for the Napoli players until the Kamikaze move by the Juventus defender at the end. I seen two loose touches from those Napoli players that should have been punished (especially on the 4 second mark) and the Juventus midfielders didn't even bother to try and take the ball off them. We could do what Napoli did too, but the difference is that Premier League teams aren't going to stand off us and let us play around with the ball like Serie A teams do. They are going to hassle us in numbers, get in our faces before we settle on the ball. They are going to defend in numbers, tighten up those gaps and remain compact. You won't see a single Premier League defender charge out like that Juventus player did. English football and Italian football are very different, we will not be able to succeed by trying to copy Napoli. Sarri can bring his own tactics to the team, but he will have to adjust it slightly to make it successful in this league.
February 2, 20197 yr People saying we’ve got average players etc, I’m not having that, go look at Cardiff & Huddersfield that’s average players. We’re not utilising the squad we have, it’s all very well having a philosophy but unless you can be flexible until you’ve coached & bought the players you need, then you’ll never get the time to fulfill your philosophy. I like the Cinderella story behind Sarri, but he’s got to start delivering improvement, if I could see a path to success even with defeats I’d be more confident. unfortunatly I see a stubborn man on his way to getting himself sacked.

February 2, 20197 yr I wonder in these frank exchanges between Sarri and his players, how many times Sarri has been told you're playing Kante wrong, because Gorginho cant do the holding and passing bit, the tweak in formation, might have to be as drastic as Contes as after that Arsenal drubbing

How can we expect him to succeed, if he’s constantly being second guessed all the time?
February 2, 20197 yr But apparently The Question i muted was and Sarri and Dave said they were frank exchanges, do you not think the players have expressed their doubts, they Know the PL and what is needed, Sarri thinks and hopes his ways can be implemented, so far not much to show!! February 2, 20197 yr Sarri really isn't showing anything different to big Phil, and remember he coached World cup winners, sometimes, you have to evolve to survive

They’re players not coaches, it’s a totally different skill set.

February 2, 20197 yr Hopefully that result gives Sarri some breathing space. It's ridiculous the amount of stick this guy has been getting recently, being made out to be this clueless manager who's been found out. Feel people should do more research on his Napoli team amd the impact he also had at Empoli. Like i've said before, this process is going to take time and patience will be needed. But trust me, if Sarri gets us playing like Napoli then we'll be in for an absolute treat
February 2, 20197 yr Eerily quiet on this thread. Spooky in fact. Why can this be? Oh i get it- it’s because we won! Whats happened to the vultures gathering in the trees. Edited February 2, 20197 yr by Ewell CFC

Whats happened to the vultures gathering in the trees. Great and hugely important win. But it was against the by far worst team in the league at home. We have City away and then Tottenham at home next in the league now. That's when we need to show progress and get the results. Let's hope we do!

We will surely hear their “Sack sack sack” squall again when we lose another game, dont you worry.
February 2, 20197 yr I thought we played much better today, there wasn’t so much ball hogging, there wasn’t any preference (Hazard & Pedro v Bournemouth) The whole team has worked as a team and really it could have been more than 5 today. It’s a bit annoying we’ve got really tough games coming up because it would have been nice to go on a little run, oh well it will be interesting to see how we do this month.

February 2, 20197 yr One swallow doesn’t make a summer and all that. Good result and performance today but let’s not forget it was against a struggling Huddersfield. A lot of us thought we’d turned a corner after the Spurs game recently only to get spanked by Arsenal and Bournemouth. Away matches seem to be our biggest hurdle so let’s see how we get on in the coming weeks. February is full of huge matches for us, we’ve got to play the two Manchester clubs in big cup games, our first knock out matches in Europe for the season plus Spurs and City in the league. February is probably going to make or break our season and perhaps by extension Sarri’s Chelsea future.
February 2, 20197 yr The scoring of 5 goals was important today, Felt like we hadn't won a game by 2 or more goals for ages.
February 2, 20197 yr 'If you're not making mistakes, you're not trying' comes to mind. Wishing Sarri and the team well for the upcoming fixtures.
