January 20, 20197 yr Am not one for making new topics......but here goes. I believe In Sarri, I want him to succeed however as we have seen previously these players do not like to be called out and this will only end with one winner the players, happen with Jose and Conte. I have accepted we will never have a manager for more than two season now unless something dramatically changed from the top of the club to the bottom We are down to a thin list of manager's now, and as I haven't been following world football as much lately, are there any standout replacements? How long should they be given 6 month's, one season etc....? I think we all know what is coming so we might as well get the conversation going now.
January 20, 20197 yr I am officially putting the forum forward as a possible replacement, seeing as we got all the answers in here.
January 20, 20197 yr I stated many times but the coach, Sarri now, is managing a chelsea team which is the bi-product of season upon season of poor player acquisition and mismanagement, both by previous managers and club hierarchy. We could have had Aguero, we got a shot to sh*t Torres. We could have had KDB we got rid, we could have still had Salah we got rid, we could have had Felipe Luis, we got rid, the list goes on. As for youth, Sarri is now come to a new club and as well as the pressure to succeed the previous success, he's also dealing with an unsettled fanbase and a young player in H-Odoi. We have no divine right to win trophies unless the club are spending big to bring in the best players to compete. We have spent big alright, but on utter tripe for the most part. It starts from the top down, and if the owner/board aren't making the right decisions or showing any long term planning then good luck being a stable club and with that bringing success. It may have worked up until now, but with more clubs being better run, showing patience and making smarter signings, we will be left behind and no coach will improve that mess. As a fanbase we have become spoiled. We now have too high a expectations. Yes we may have won two league titles in 4 seasons, but there's no long term planning in sight. That is not how you run a club. Look at Liverpool and City, even Spurs to a lesser extent of how to run a club properly and make smart moves. Edited January 20, 20197 yr by enigma

January 20, 20197 yr After appointing Sarri who has no history of winning things the next appointment is anyone’s guess, we’ve now widened the spectrum of potential managers exponentially. If we’re favouring managers who once ran a team close in a title race surely Poch has got to be favourite?

You make a lot of sense in your post, it's just the timing of it. We shouldn't really be talking about what's next when Sarri has barely even had 6 months at the club and we're still in 4th place.
January 20, 20197 yr seeing the way chelsea get through managers, i am surprised we do not have a "who's next" thread constantly running

Napoli's point tally last season would have won the league any other season. Poch hasn't won anything but people would still clamber for him. Klopp hasn't won anything in England yet. Liverpool board showed faith and they are on route to a title win. Mourinho has won loads, but won nothing at Utd with a very good team iver three seasons. Pep never won anything in his first season in England coming behind Spurs. There is no sure fire way to success especially in England. The league clubs have adapted and improved. They have seen pretty much all tactics and formations. I don't see what any other coach would do any better in this league, this season tbh. Let alone without a striker. The next manager could have ten CL trophies, doesn't guarantee success.

January 20, 20197 yr f**k, this is a sad topic. For it even to be here is so f**kin sad. What has Chelsea become. For what its worth i think the suits at the top should 100% back Sarri. Get rid of any disruptive players and back him all the way for his 3 year contract ? Or carry on with this disjointed hire and fire approach where absolutely no one is happy. Not the fans, the management or the players.
January 20, 20197 yr The writing is on the wall for Sarri. He is gone. The players aren't performing for him and why should they? He is making all the wrong team line up choices and is constantly getting subs wrong. Our 2 best players out of position. Hazard will move on, Kante will be snapped up by the likes of PSG and we we will become a top 10 team with the likes of Arsenal. No-one wants to be Arsenal, not even Arsenal. Let's get rid of him now before the rot truly sits in. We are still in multiple trophies, can we not exit all of them before deciding that the players simply aren't interested any more.
January 20, 20197 yr Agree Kev I don't think anyone could make this lot into champions. And before someone says this squad were champions 2 years ago, Conte's team that won in '16-'17 had a striker and a leader JT. But as to who will one day replace Sarri? Super Frank for me.

If it was me I would rather see most of this squad dismantled. Sell Hazard and Willian and start a fresh. Then actually bring in some quality playerd and promote SOME youth.

January 20, 20197 yr Sell Hazard if he 100% wants to go, give position to CHO. Get Higuain in for 6 months and see how he does. If Higuain flops like I have a feeling he will, then this summer invest heavily for a striker. Buy a Left back, Move Azpi back to CB. Drop Luiz as backup along with Christensen, buy a new RB. Move Kante to CDM and drop Jorginho as his backup. Sell Willian to Barcelona, Pulisic is coming this summer. Keep Pedro for another season for when our young wingers go out of form. If we don't keep Kovasic, thats still fine. Barkley, RLC and Jorginho are good for 2 places, even at a stretch David Luiz can play there. Kante must remain at CDM though. This is what I would do if I was the Chelsea manager. Edited January 20, 20197 yr by Semper Fi

Let's get rid of him now before the rot truly sits in. We are still in multiple trophies, can we not exit all of them before deciding that the players simply aren't interested any more. Arsenal are a Top 6 team ATM. Apparently overtures were made to Kante by PSG and he rebuffed them. Put bluntly, this side has inadequate personnel to play Sarri's 4-4-3 formation. However, as we discovered last season, changing it back to a 3-at-the-back formation may not be the long-term (or even short-term answer). With hindsight, Conte won the 2016/17 PL by changing the formation and taking the league by surprise - on paper, our squad was at best Top 4 quality. If you wish to sack Sarri in a panic (which I still disagree with for now), who would you bring in? To a large degree, Sarri has been hindered by mentally fragile strikers, alongside one target-man who has lost all scoring touch and some pretty erratic recruitment, coming partially from the whims of a manager whose philosophy was different to Sarri's. Where he has fell down is in starting the wrong lineups too often (A target man is useful against parked buses and yet Giroud has rarely been played in that role) and not rotating Willian/CHO more (and arguably not playing Emerson more). Also, maybe he relies on Kovacic too much as a means of retaining possession and countering counters. The problem is that he lacks end product. Against non-Top 6 sides, Barkley/RLC should probably start, before bringing on Kovacic to repress counterattacks. EDIT: There is much to be said to the notion that we're getting physically bullied off parks - an Essien-type in this midfield would solve that problem. Problem is that Kante's the designated Box-to-Box midfielder so you would have to play this midfielder in the Kovacic/regista position, which wouldn't seem very likely. A Pogba-type would be useful. January 20, 20197 yr Author Three different managers have mentioned the mentality of this group of players at some point you have to take a step back and say...hold on three different managers saying the same thing...[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]
January 20, 20197 yr i do not understand too much about tactics and formations, but what puzzles me is why sarri keeps wasting hazard in this false 9 whilst we have giroud on the bench, he is good enough to play in the world cup winning squad but not ours ?, is he that much worse than this Argentinian that is supposedly coming in? it seems that every body in the world thinks hazard should not be wasted like this other than sarri, and i think that is quite worrying

January 20, 20197 yr He’s not going anywhere in a hurry. Think his non interference with transfers and malable persona suits the club, who realise he’s governed by the players we’ve got. Do think he’s got to seriously wise up however.
