September 26, 20196 yr James is certainly an interesting prospect fast and physical, I can see him being on the bench and being eased in towards the ends of matches. Don't see him starting just yet in the EPL.

September 26, 20196 yr The fact Palace wanted him to replace AWB should speak volumes of the level that hes placed himself at after his very successful Wigan loan. I dont think he'll replace Azp just yet but over time, with more first team training and the odd cup match, it is going to happen. I wouldnt blow my load after the performance last night because it was only a mediocre league 2 side he and the youths played but he has certainly shown at times hes more than capable of being the FB we desperately need on that side.

September 26, 20196 yr If we play 4 at the back switch Azpi to the left side and play James on the right. Alonso has no place in playing in line or 4. He just doesn't have the pace. It is like we are playing with 10 men.

Putting there Azpilicueta would be disastrous decision from our offensive perspective. I'd rather go 3-4-3 and Dave in the back three and Reece and Emerson on the wings. Obviously Emerson would be first choice on the left. I think @evissy was suggesting putting Azpi there due to the fact that Emerson is out injured until at least mid October.
September 26, 20196 yr Fitness permitting, there is absolutely no doubt this boy's going to make it. He has everything, skill, speed, strength, shooting ability, crossing ability, passing ability, power. You could go on and on. Put him in midfield and he could be Michael Essien.

And a passion for his performance and the club. A very important quality

Being the right sided center back in a back 3 is Azpi's best position, and Reece is too good to not be used as a wing back who runs up and down the pitch the entire game. Though he'll be a colossal as a full back too. Perhaps Azpi-Rudiger-Tomori as the back 3, Emerson and James on the wings? Seems too good to be true.

September 27, 20196 yr I wouldn't be surprised if the captaincy changes mid season, a player is rested stand-in captain and the team wins. Same team next match, win with stand-in captain and no-one will mind. For me the key is winning and having the right replacement. Rudiger looked last season like he might be a candidate yet this season he has been plagued with injury.

It’s become quite easy to leave our captains out since JT left to be fair. We even left him on the bench for his last season.

This is why Azpi is also a great captain as he will not put his needs first. Zouma, Jorginho, Pedro and Willian will all captain us.

Though in think Gilmour may well be our next long term captain.

And azpi will play a lot of games even if Reece James turns into a top player.

October 2, 20196 yr I thought today came a bit too soon for him, he looked a bit off the pace. But at the same time, it could be a big learning curve for him. It's his first experience at this level and you would hope he would learn a lot from it.
October 2, 20196 yr All in all i think he did decent for an entirely new position. Got sharper as the game progressed and put in some lovely crosses.
October 2, 20196 yr I actually thought he was good, the yellow card was not his fault, it was a terrible pass by Tammy and he had to stop the counter. Besides him giving the ball away on the edge of their box I think he was good, he's also got a sweet delivery, whipped in a few good balls.

His upper body strength was pretty evident too. The way he outmuscled their players on a few occasions too was impressive. Showed good acceleration too. Was very happy.
October 3, 20196 yr Would love to see him used at RB in a back four, think he was a bit uncertain of where he needed to be at times, but made a few tidy tackles and is clearly very athletic.
