Mason Mount

Featured Replies

I think one area where Mount has improved a lot for me over the last few months has been his strength and ability to hold the ball. Last season he struggled to retain the ball under pressure but this year that part of the game has improved massively. He not only is able to hold the ball he is also able to turn with it or receive it on the half turn.. i think the lad has another level to go.. he is only 22.. he will get stronger, his composure will improve and his confidence and belief will mean he makes the best use of his ability.

This 100%, I've noticed that. He's so much better at holding the ball and being aware of the danger. That was actually a gripe I had with Mount last season, he would spin and turn very often and lose the ball too much for my liking. Now he's much more aware of the danger and he's even better at holding it. I'm really enjoying his progress this season, very intelligent player.

This is an area we need to see Havertz improve on drastically, Havertz loses the ball wayyy too much and struggles to play it out of danger, I'm hoping in time he gets used to the league. I've already written this season off for Havertz anyway, I'm not expecting much from him anymore. Mount looks like he can do the job in that central area anyway.

Yeah having said that Gareth will have an absolute nightmare trying to pick between Grealish, Foden, Mount and Madison for the AM / 8 role.. in saying that assuming Saka is an option for a forward role..

I think Foden is pure class too.. Pep called him Silva's replacement and he is playing like him.. scary potential, his goals against us, against pool.. he will be a top top player too... and weather we like grealish or not he is also been performing and delivering... if i were to chose i would go with Mount along the above 2 because of his off the ball attributes.. but i dont think he makes my midfield 3 ahead  of Foden .. and the front 3 are taken too between Kane, Sterling and Rashford/Grealish..

Pep said that Foden is the most talented player he has ever worked with. Mount + Foden for England could be a real force in the future.

In a 4-3-3 Gareth has this potential of

Mount rice saka

Foden Kane grealish

add to that Sterling Rashford Sancho Maddison  Calvert Lewin and even Callum if he continues his form and England’s team options looks formidable going forward if only he can get the defence and goalkeeper right!

He's currently our best player. Constantly making key contributions game after game.

The was a moment in the first half when Jorginho made a soft challenge and Shef United were bombing down our right flank, Mount chased him back 60 yards from his attacking midfield position and put in a solid tackle.

He's already a very rounded midfielder. His workrate and desire to win is unmatched by anyone else in the squad.

Sublime finish for the goal last night, a quality first time strike. If he can continue to improve his finishing he's going to be a world class player for sure.

Has anyone got a clip of that ball lob he did? The one Terry was raving about.

Add to that Grealish, Saka ,Maddison and a plethora of other young talent. Possibly a little light on central defensive options at present. Knitting them together will be the hard job by the manager so we don't waste another 'golden generation'.

I literally couldn't give a sh*t about the England squad because they aren't winning anything any time soon.

Boo hoo, i thought he might of been a true 'Lamps manager 4 life' legend, not a 'Melt' into th night under the Bridge dweller

Not his best game today but I'm really coming around to Mason this season, especially lately. I found him very overrated last season (on this forum), now I'm starting to think he's very underrated.

Exactly the same for me. I thought his ceiling was to be a good squad player and I didn't see why Lamps rated him as highly as he did, but he's been really good this season. At first in a deeper role and now he's made the transition to playing in TT's style effortlessly and is looking better than he has ever looked that far up the pitch.

Yesterday, as you said wasn't his best game, but he contributed with some good corners.

I think the one thing Mount can work on is keeping calm in goal scoring positions. A lot of his shots are erratic because he feels like he has to rush everything. If he can sort that part of his game out, I think he could become a consistent goal scorer for us and get a few more assists.

That's the thing with Mason, he's still quite young so consistency will only come in due time.

He has done well but my biggest worry isn't the fact that he rushes sometimes and misses chances... I hope he doesn't get burned out because he has been playing so many games for the past two seasons and the way the last season ended didn't really give him much time to recover so I hope that he doesn't suffer from the lack of rest later on because that's the only thing that might stop him from becoming an amazing player.

Add to that Eric Dier at the back and they think it's all over. It is now.
