Its once again writing off the past 4/5 years because of the last 6 months though. Say he's burnt out by all means but claiming he doesn't defend when his work rate was one of the best in the league and a large reason he was so highly regarded is bizarre revisionism.

That's the point that worries me the most, he's doesn't seem the type to phone it in so if he's not offering the same workrate he is known for it points to the fact he physically is struggling to do it as opposed to won't.

tbf out of all things to critisize mount, I think work rate should be one of the last. The main thing hes good at is his work rate and nonstop running on the pitch, if he loses the will to do that then hes truly hopeless

It will be interesting to see if he's in the squad Saturday.

I'm curious to know where the exact disagreement lies. Be it length of the deal, the structure of the bonuses, or base pay. If it really is such a complicated matter, it makes you wonder why the likes of James, Enzo, Mudryk, Madueke, etc all relatively easily agreed to such long term, incentivized deals.

Potter said he is not 100% in the last presser...he was just picked by England. Hasn't played that much. Suppose we have to thank Southgate for giving him minutes.

I felt Potter was a bit unconformable answering questions about Mount.

I also feel the contract is probably good to get finalized before he plays if his head is not in it.

I never criticize his work rate, but to me that is not quite the same as defending   I just never notice him ion the edge of the defensive penalty area the way I used to see, say Willian  or compare with the defensive work Gallagher does, or appears to do

. Maybe it’s the hair style difference, nor putting his foot in for a tackle. When we have the ball of course he works hard. Very hard.

I think you must have mistaken Mount for Felix or murdyk

I most certainly have not.

I am surprised that anyone can criticized Mount defensively.

Lampard used him as defensive winger to defend against Robertson, Potter used him as a shuttler, tuchel asked him to press both dm and fb.

You don't ask player to do this if they are not good or consistent defensively. This is a specific defensive job.

You guys win again. He’s a great defender. Even the stats put him in the top half of the premier league defensively, other than in heading.

Got a new agent…

Wasserman agency. Same agency as Lewis Hall, not managed to get him a new deal yet.

Ross Barkley is on their books

Looks like he is going.

Really disappointed if he does. Generally been an excellent player for us.

I dont see money or contract length being a major issue if he truly wants to stay here. I'd be surprised if he goes anywhere else and earns more especially considering clubs will have to pay a big fee for him.

So for me I think it's a sporting decision, I think he is unsettled with the amount of players coming in. It would be great if he backed himself like JT and Lamps did, but it seems his drop in form at a time when new ownership are looking make big moves in the market, has come at the wrong time, and created a kind of perfect storm which has made him likely to leave.

He isnt irreplaceable though, and theres no guarantee we havent already seen his best. Still, I would love to see him stay personally.

Speaking of records, you forgot Mount has lost a record breaking 6 finals out of 6 at Wembley, quite the feat.

Hilarious... People blaming a final losses on Mount... You lot are bonkers... Do you blame Mason for your marriage breakdowns and children hating you or your electricity bills going up because you watched those finals on tele? absolutely unrealistic expectations.

FFS... Hudson Odoi better than Mason... Can't even get game time in a lesser league. fell off my chair laughing at that.

HATERS ALWAYS HATE...

Enjoy the day folks, thanks for the amusement.. 3 points needed today. come on da Chelsea...

Man,I've been watching highlights from couple last seasons and realized how much of a recency bias I have towards Mason.  He really has been one of our most important players. I think it is also the abundance of talent in the squad that makes some of us overlook him.

I hope he can stay and develop as good of a understanding with Potter as the one he had with Tuchel.

A great servant for the club but wont shed a tear if he left. He is an attacking midfielder who is praised for his defensive duties but is average at best offensively . I wont deny that he has been over played and is now burnt out . It was either this or he got injured like kante due to over use.

He's better than Pulisic and Ziyech, we really should be selling them first. I do think Tuchel's system made him look better than he is though, much like it did for a lot of our players.

There aren't that many players that can play RF as well either, though outright buying Felix could be a good option.

I'd rather keep him than spend 100m on Felix. I know it's been a tough season for him, but there's talent there if he can regain his form.

Yes, if we can somehow get a guarantee his 2021 self would return it's a no brainer to give him that deal.

Unfortunately however there's no way to guarantee it and assuming a year and bit of bad form is just a blip is incredibly risky.

Also just saying, Tuchel would have been absolutely crucified if he'd let Mason Mount go.

It’s not Potter selling him though.

& would also rather keep him and give him Kante’s wages than sell him, & renew Kante for a further 2 seasons.

It's Potter that's benched him and made him want to leave. Tuchel got stick for doing the same with Tammy Abraham for example.

Also, doesn't Kante earn around 350k a week? I like Mason but he's not worth close to that.

both will be sold

Buy Felix for 100 million, sell Mount for 70... Crackers... 30 million loss on bringing in a champaign player who imo doesn't graft.. And for the hype hasnt really done anything of note in LaLiga, a two horse race league. Compare Mount and Felix. I'll take Mount every day of the week. Felix hardly plays and hasn't hit double figures output wise.
