Mason Mount

I don't see Mount as being the same position as Xhaka, who is more of a traditional midfielder. I think replacing Xhaka is more likely to be a Caicedo or Rice.

Mount is probably up against Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli, and he doesn't start ahead of that trio in my opinion.

Mount offers more in defence and attack than Xhaka, he's a natural 8. Rice would be after Partey's role for Arsenal.

He seems very determined to leave, looks like it's gonna happen.

Personally I'm sad about this.

Yeah me as well, but if the reports are true I get it. Todd and co are not going anywhere and if they promised Mount one deal, then allowed Stewart and Winstanley to change it and offer something a fair bit different, I get how trust would be broken.

Just hope Mount treats the club with the respect we are due for developing him and helps us get a fair price for him.

I don't think we should be accepting less than  65mill from a rival. 50 to 55mill is fair if it is Bayern or someone abroad.

Well he agreed to that pretty damn fast. No idea what went on behind the scenes but he seems very keen to get out of the club. Thought he was a future Chelsea captain too. Poor all round. Thought he was better than this. Can’t believe that Man United would be offering him a better contract than us. I just hope we have a really good alternative lined up.

You can’t replace 18 years.

“Money Mase” is a fitting name, when the club needed him most what does he do, “feck off and leave”.

Could never lace Hazard boots, he stayed with us through difficult times and only left us on a high.

The first time he has faced some difficulty and he’s jumping ship, he could have easily extend for a year or two if he doesn’t want a new long term deal to help club through this transition then if he wants to leave make sure the club gets a good fee for him.

Does he think United fans will be as forgiving as us!!

Unbelievable.

By all reports of first of a few going that may see some academy staff quit. RLC, Gallagher, Maatsen, CHO and Chalobah along with Mount apparently on their respective ways.

Serves us right , f**ked the lad about when he bleeds Blue. And that sack of sh*t Raheem is on 350K a week. Unforgivable.

We like to pay big money to waste of spaces. Roman's last signing Lukaku set the tone, Todd and co followed suit with Sterling and Koulibaly.

Apparently we want Ugarte to accept 45,000k a week too.

This is how I feel tbh. People can blame the board, but if he is proper Chels like he always made out, he’d figure something out. Fact he’s chosen Utd over Liverpool and Arsenal shows he’s all about £££.

Hazard stuck by us when we finished 10th. Del Piero stayed with Juve when they were relegated ffs! No way Terry would have left us.

It's Matt Law PR. Don't believe this BS

We survived THIS and won the CL title 2 years later

We will survive the Mount snitch move too

So how does this play out when he returns? I'm guessing not a very warm welcome?

Only big player I can remember leaving on bad terms was Courtois?

He'll absolutely get a warm welcome, we're not parting on bad terms, Courtois refused to train until he got his move

So the fans who would boo Jorginho will they cheer someone who essentially forced their way out because the club wouldn’t pay him big!!!

None academy players we have signed bleed more blue than him. This is why certain players after leaving Chelsea go abroad rather then to a rival!!

I'm not sure, I feel a bit of animosity about this as it stands. Seems Pochettino wants him so can only be a case of money?

Maybe we'll find out more when he's gone, but currently not sitting well with me

Look at the bigger picture and you will understand this is the obvious outcome.

It is clear for everybody that Pochettino will go for a 4-2-3-1 with two no-nonsense players in the pivot (hence the Ugarte rumours) and a three at the back from time to time. Still the two in the pivot will always be there to provide balance and steel in the midfield no matter the formation.

Is Mason Mount fit to partner Enzo Fernandez in the pivot? 100% he is not, IMHO.

Is he good enough to play on the wing? 100% he is not.

Is he good enough for the NO. 10 role? Maybe for a club like Villa, West Ham or Everton, but definitely not for big, trophy chasing ones where you constantly need to be the creating force and make the game click most of the times.

So where would he fit in really? And on a big money contract, too? Is he really worth over 200k a week just because he is an Academy product and he's good to have around?

Mount and Kovacic have had some of the most underwhelming performances for the past year, year and a half. Now it is the perfect moment to cash in on them and get this over with.

Hopefully we get rid of Gallagher, Loftus Cheek, Chalobah, Hudson Odoi the coming weeks, too. Sentiments aside, they clearly are not good enough for whatever we are aspiring for.

And on top of all this we must be realistic - we need money, too. The new owners have invested a lot and if we are to bring new players in, we must sell some of the current ones. I am sure Pochettino has a few targets, too and a clearout seems to be on the cards.

Chelsea must have a new look come next season and now it's the moment for a fresh start.

Pass percentage and progressive passes together show the quality of pass being executed.

We won a CL with Mount as a pivotal role, he absolutely does start for a title challenger.

Not entirely. It's an indicator but in isolation ignores weight of pass, decision-making etc. He's not a great passer by any stretch.

We won a CL with Kante, Werner, Havertz, Silva, Rudiger playing pivotal roles - as much as anyone else. Not that it matters much but in the last 2 seasons Havertz has been way more influential against top opposition and in big games.

And I don't want this to come off as bashing Mount because I've always been a fan and would prefer he stayed - but he's unfortunately also not indispensable.
