Thank f**k for that. With all that possession and all those chances it really did look like one of those games where Villa would snatch a late, undeserved equaliser and every time they lofted a ball into our box, i feared the worst.

But we deserved that win. Good performance and we should have won by a lot more. Don't think any of our boys played badly although hard to pick a MOTM as there were a lot of 7/10. Would probably go for Kante but good display by all tonight and I personally thought Christensen had a very good game.

Kante was the most obvious from the midfield but Tammy won us the game, would be criminal to overlook his effort today, a goal and an assist, without him we would look clueless.

Heaton had his game of the season, I swear Mings was holding onto Tammy as well when they clashed knees. Another day this would be a more comfortable win, quite happy with the performance in the 2nd half

Actually Kante is a fine shout. Typical 90 minutes from him. Totally under stated and entirely reliable every time he is involved. I still prefer him to Jorginho in that role regardless of how much Jorginho has improved this season.

Yes. Without doing anything spectacular. Didn’t seem in the mood for those runs today, but his passing - the range / speed of delivery and decision-making really stood out.

He made plenty of runs Dean, he shook their midfielders off him plenty of times and he made a quality run in the box that almost lead to a goal.

But yeah not as much as he usually does, his passing and decision making was superb though.

He probably was furious about how terrible our defending is. “Sort that sh*te out Frank!”

JT is a winner, he won't be happy with Villa's defending, I don't expect him to smile if his team has lost. That's why we love him though, we loved him for his mentality, he bleeds football, I hope he ends up here as one of our coaches eventually.

Oh yeah :). Anyway I don’t need much persuading when it comes to Kova.

Good game. Still got to convert more of the chances. Would have liked to see Jorginho on earlier. Willian Kovacic pulisic all excellent. Both Kante and Kovacic were a bit restrained today. Willian works incredibly hard.

You can't help yourself can you :laugh2:

Kante and Kovacic both played extremely well, I don't think it's obvious who was better than who, it's difficult to really say.

The reason why we cannot play better than we played tonight is because of the ban. But, the truth is that the team that played tonight is probably the best team you can put together in this our squad. We all saw tonight how Kante fought hard with Aston Villa players in the midfield. For me, a midfield trio of Kante, Kovacic and Mount is still our best option in the midfield. It will make the team good both defensively and offensively.

I think we've missed the Kante under Conte, when he plays deeper his defensive contribution is superb, made some excellent recovery runs today and broke up play. Jorginho is not on his level in that department, I think out of the 3 Jorginho will find himself on the bench more, Kovacic is in amazing form this season.

A good win and an important win. At half-time I feared the worst but we were good second half, fully deserved the win, and Frank takes a lot of credit. Confidence would have been a bit shaky at half-time. We played well and we showed a bit of steel. But for their keeper we would have had a few more.

Kepa. Dodge.

James. Good.

Dave. We'll be seeing a lot more of him at left-back.

Christensen. Not bad but he's not imposing or dominant enough and never quite takes the bull by the horns.

Zouma. Excellent. He's been a big plus this season.

Kovacic. What can I say? The man is class. So composed. I could talk about him all day. I won't because I know you've all got busy lives.

Willian. Had a good game. I thought he had a very good game. Had a very good game. He's a very nice man.

Kante. Good. I reckon this boy'll go far.

Tammy. I like him. I like him a lot.

Mason. Someone said at half-time he's no better than Piazon. Somebody on this thread. Who was that? Was that you? Come on put your hand up.

Pulisic. Good player, good attitude, lacks a little bit of explosiveness, but I like him. I like him a lot.

The manager. 10 out of 10 for me. Made the hard decisions and got them all right. Dropped Emerson, rightly so. Dropped Jorginho, rightly so. Dropped Tomori, rightly so. People may not want to hear it but as I said a few weeks ago, our best XI doesn't include Jorginho. He's good but he's vastly overrated on here. As against Palace, we were much more secure with a midfield 2 of Kova and Kante. It was a really good performance tonight. Top job.

Thanks. This has been my opinion all along on this forum even before today. Even against those big teams that have been beating us this season, Kante would have at least fought a bit with them and given them a good match. I'm not saying maybe we would have beaten those big teams, but it would have been better than what we had. Kante would have protected the defence very well and, Kovacic and Mount would have had more freedom to go forward better in those matches, and that would have made us so dangerous offensively.

Stand by it too, first half one of his poorest performances. If he keeps up that second half I'll have no reason to doubt him.

Quite enjoyed Amazon's coverage. Townsend was his usual dull self but I like Aluko as an analyst though.

Amazon's coverage was a breath of fresh air. It's just a shame things go back to normal at the weekend.
