Kai Havertz

Featured Replies

BBC reports that Chelsea fc just may have played a masterstroke on Bayer Leverkusen by signing Kai Havertz and announcing him in accordance with a new rule dated August 30th 2020 by the UK government that German's do not need to get quarantined on arrival in the UK. Bayer Leverkusen thought they could delay as this rule would be in existence in September as well.

I don't understand. There's already no requirement for arrivals from Germany to quarantine in the UK and that's not due to change after August 30th. I also don't see anything about Havertz being announced just yet on the BBC website, or anywhere else.

Why are some United fans like this

If you look hard enough you'll see these kinds of idiotic tweets from supporters of all clubs.

As for Havertz, I'm not a huge fan of mega signings as I feel the risk of failure is just so high. Our two biggest signings so far (Torres and Kepa) can hardly be described as successes. Maybe I'm just scarred from those transfers.  I have nothing against Havertz and hope he's a success if he does sign

With United it is incredibly widespread in terms of overestimating any potential targets, we tend to underestimate or scrutinise our potential targets.

That is not a one off tweet the comparisons have started of how good a deal they have and how Kai is a sub par player in comparison.

With Kai I don't think he is that big a risk, he is incredibly young and highly versatile. Even if he were to struggle we can still most likely recoup a lot of the fee we have payed for him, as a midfielder he is still 5 years away from his peak therefore I don't think it's that big a risk.

To be fair Torres was never the same after his injury which affected him mentally too, Kepa was out of the blue and on nobody's radar, we just got fleeced because we needed a GK and panicked.

It's still a risk though as we never know how well he'll get on in the PL and whether he'll develop into that WC player, if he has already hit his peak then we'd have overpaid.

Respect the way Ajax do their business. First with us for Zyiech and now with United for VdB.

Two very talented players sold for fair prices in today's market. Leicester also saw the market for what it is a realised 50mill for Chilwell is what 80mill was pre covid.

Bayer should take note. Is Havertz really more than twice the player of a VdB?

We had also sold/been forced to sell Courtois for the then world-record fee, so Athletic knew we were cashed up. Poor planning all around, we knew Courtois wanted to go at least a season before.

Hazard was also a mega-signing (being the most coveted player in Europe that season, bar Neymar) but with a year left on his contract, it was the last chance for Lille to recoup a decent fee. The only exceptions to the failure of mega-signings around the world are Hazard, Mbappe and Neymar, and one common thread there is the age at which they were signed. Ousmane Dembele would be right up there too but his early career has been wrecked by injury and Christian Pulisic might be on his way to the top. Alisson and Cristiano Ronaldo were technically 25 when they signed on to their big-money deals, so they count too.

Every other high-profile bust has been 25+ in age. The jury is still out on players like Griezmann, Pogba, Hazard (to Madrid), Neymar (to PSG) etc. Although Bale is an unqualified success for me, Madrid fans probably disagree.

If you going to bet big then do it when they are younger and the best years still in front and value increases. Just get it right. Injuries are the biggest risk. I won’t be surprised if Pulisic is injured a lot. Havertz doesn’t seem to have many injuries in his history does he?

Van de Beek is a good player and €40m is a good deal IMO. Ziyech is more valuable to us and Havertz is a totally different player. That comment should be let alone..as is most comments made by 12 year old's in Twitter.

We signed Fabregas in a hotel room

I know it didn’t last as long but I remember this transfer saga so well. A picture of him holding our shirt was released online before the official announcement and I was convinced it was photoshopped. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I stopped there but I really did exam every part of that picture detailing why it was 100% photoshopped. Ahh good times.

Well, that more or less confirms it surely?

If the Havertz transfers falls through, at least I'll feel some consolation in knowing that this Romano twat has embarrassed himself.

He seems a nice bloke. Reliable on transfernews...

It's the way he does things such as declaring it as "confirmed.", as if he has the authority to confirm anything. He also states that Havertz is already a Chelsea player then immediately contradicts himself by admitting that he hasn't passed the medical or signed the contract yet.

He's easily the most reliable journalist for transfers. I don't really care if he's a bit annoying.

I think that means something different to me than to you. It's kind of like saying he's the most 'honest' member of the conservative party.
