Kai Havertz

Featured Replies

If he still looks like round peg in a very small square aperture, will we try and sell him on, he might be a player more suited to German, Italian, Spanish, football, he definitely has the skills to succeed, the £73 million question is, is it with Chelsea FC ?

I'll be honest at the time of being linked with him I wasn't too fussed. We had other pressing areas that needed addressing and it felt very much at the time like a luxury buy.

However, I've got to say if he can play for us like he did in Germany and with him set for an upwards trajectory this was a good deal.

I was sceptical about Pulisic before he signed and Tuchel as well and so far both have impressed me. So here's for the trend to continue.

I had felt at the time we should have gone for Sancho, and even now I still would love for him but I think Kai is pretty much a safe bet for him to be up there with the other top youngsters of his generation and I hope we get to see some glimpses of this throughout the rest of this season.

I hate to say it so early in his career but it feels like Torres 2.0. Maybe Carjacker was right, we should have only bought him if we had a specific plan.

I don’t see any comparison to Tiorres. Torres was past his peak, had been injured and lost some pace when he came to Chelsea. Havertz is young with most of his career in front of hiim. It’s unarguable that so far he has not lived up to his billing as the next big thing.  Ronaldo only scored 4 league goals in I 29 appearances league  in his first season at ManU and 5 in 33 appearances in his next season.

He is 22,relax

Regardless of his age and all these feelings good factor comparisons with Ronaldo, he looks average in every sense of the word. Anyone with no knowledge of the Premier League can turn on the TV and instantly recognise how basic he looks. That dreadful performance RLC put out against Brighton is what Kai churns out every PL game. Pity as from all the hype you would've hoped he would be on his way to being our Bruno Fernandes.

Out of curiosity, is there one Chelsea player you do rate? Or are they all sh*t?

Haha Mendy, Silva, Azpi, Kova (shooting is rubbish though), Pulisic and surprisingly Werner (I haven't sh*ted on him i dont think).

Guys I really do not rate at all:

Kepa, Christensen, Tammy and Havertz.

I would like to be proved wrong on Kai but unlike Werner, he's done literally nothing.

You are pretty harsh, KonKaiBlue.  All the penalties won by Werner mean nothing to you?  And all of the assists he has gotten recently mean nothing to you?   Of course, Werner shooting and first touch are poor for the last few months, but he has provided us with plenty of points during that time by his play.

He has scored, he has assisted... literally nothing? Give him the minutes that Mount had and his end product would be better.

Bruno is currently the best player in the premier league.

When Bruno was Havertz's age he scored 5 goals in 33 games for Sampdoria and was then sold to Sporting Lisbon for about £10m.

You don't actually know this Gol. I have high hopes for Kai based on seeing him in the Bundesliga regularly last season, He has though been underwhelming so far and possibly best judged after he has been with us a couple of seasons and more acclimatised to his new surroundings. I honestly believe he came to a new country a year too early which has been exasperated by the Covid situation. On a side note Mount who you have based your argument on has only been bettered at his age by one player in the PL era for Chelsea...Arjen Robben.

Mount has outplayed Havertz in every role he played.

It's just how I feel, Mount has played the most out of all players for the past 2 seasons and he had all the time and space to grow. I believe that Kai is more clinical than Mount.

I do feel abit pissed off, but not sure if it’s at the Chelsea board or Havertz. We made him our record signing and he comes with a huge reputation, potential to be as good as the likes of Mbappe and Haaland, and this is what we get? Hell we’d even get a better footballer out of someone like Ward Prowse or Hojberg.

He has been disappointing big time and I don’t think we even seen any glimpses of his talent. He has that aura about him but he’s really not producing anything. Just makes me mad thinking what could we have spent that money on instead?

I hope he comes good but Jesus, he need to start showing us something. Even just a run of decent form would be nice.

Compare their minutes, Mount has played almost twice as much as Kai this season + he played 50 games last season. Despite that he doesn't have more assists from open play than Kai, most of his assists came from corner kicks, Lampard built his team around Mount while he used Havertz to fill in a spot.

This is crazy opinion. It is completely the other way around. Mount this season has played as defensive cm, double pivot, right winger, left winger yet Mount best position is no 10/advanced cm.

If you build your team around somebody you will play him best role not move him around so the other can play their best role

I hope we don't find our Bruno Fernandes.

Hero ball stat padders (ie Gerrard) never win league titles.

With that in mind we started the season with Havertz being first in a RM role, then in a false 9 role and then finally as the AM a couple of games before he got covid where he played his best games, he was also used as a CM playing more deeper and as a RW too.

Still it's pretty obvious who did Lampard play the most during his 1.5 season regardless of how he did at any given position, Kai played around 10-15 minutes against Man City and made a great assist, only to sit out on the bench the very next game.

I can just imagine how people on this forum would react if we sold him and in 3-4 years time he was ripping it up at city, united etc a la Salah, De Bruyne... Maybe we should learn our lesson with young players and give them more time than we have previously. Its only been half a (covid-impacted) season, give the guy a chance. He's been underwhelming without a doubt, but lets give him 3 years. Maybe a loan in january next year if he still hasnt settled or shone. See how it goes, but to write him off now would be crazy.

Having said that, if Tuchel has to pick between Mount or Havertz right now, he'd be stupid to pick Havertz.

I think the guy just needs more time in hia favoured position. Respect to Lamps for trying to make him a more rounded player but that came at the expense of his best qualities.

He is not a CM and tbh I don't want him to be. We have enough CM atm what we don't have enough of are goal scorers. He scores goals and was brought in to score goals. He can't do that constantly running up and down like a box to box, not everyone is super Frank.

I fully expect Tuchel to have a positive effect on him similar to Werner. My biggest issue with Kai was I found when he played under Frank he seldom found himself in a good position to shoot. He might have been on the ball outside of the box but it tended to be packed and no clear avenue at goal.

I'm hoping Thomas works on his positioning and gets him back to playing his natural game. Then hopefully we can see the Kai we thought we were buying.

As I've said before I really wanted Sancho and I still do but Kai is projected to have a similar upwards trajectory and be at and around that top level of football in the next 10 years. So we need to support him!

Fair enough, you do come across very negative at times though, and overly critical of all our players.

I've had a lot of criticism with Kai this season, but I'm willing to give him the year and see how he is next, I'm trying to just ignore the transfer fee.

I think this club needs to stop making signings over 50 million lmao

If you look at our top 5 record fee signings it's pretty scary, even top 10, most of them flopped. As a club we have done some great business, but sadly we have signed some absolute sh*te over the years. Strikers especially.
