Billy Gilmour

Featured Replies

A lot being made of Farkes comments about not developing players for other clubs but he’s got a point that Billy needs to force his way in to the side. If he can’t do it at Norwich then what right does he have to expect it at the current European Champions. It might not be an ideal situation but it should help with character building.

Farke would have a point if Gilmour wasn't consistently one of the best players on the pitch whenever he plays for anyone but Norwich.

Farke be like:

I don’t think it works that though, there have been loads of players that have been average on loan but good at their parent clubs. Farke doesn’t just know how to apply him, but he is right that he is obliged to develop Gilmour.

The more this shambles of a loan continues the more irritated I become. When he plays for a half-decent side like Scotland he is man of the match again. Surely he would learn more on our training pitch than Norwich's. If he was still here I would argue that it would be very useful to see if he could find Lukaku and Werner with the early ball that we are so lacking.

It struck me as a strange loan at the time , but I still wouldn’t call him back until January.  It’ll do him no harm facing a bit of adversity and having to force his way into the team. I remember Mount saying he faced a similar issue at Vitesse and that it helped to make him.

Can't disagree.

Being our best passer of the ball Liam  I'm certain Billy Hoddle would be able to find Werner with the early ball.

Unfortunately I'm just as certain Werner wouldn't have the touch, technique or nous to do anything with it.

Certainly would thrive in this 352 imo, offensive woild offer more than Kante and Kova.

The only thing Billy will learn from his loan with this shower of sh*t is to become a loser. Revoke the loan in January.

Surely a better team that would suit his abilities would have come in for him. He should have rejected the move and held out for something else. Anything would have been better than moving to Norwich for a year.

Conor will ironically have learned far more under Allardyce than Billy has in his loan and has now kicked on accordingly. This loan really does need to be cut short for the good of Billy's career, be it with us or even a decent Championship team.

I could understand sending him there tbh.

The Norwich last in the prem were competitive, played some great football and despite ultimedly going down they were competitive most weeks (even claiming some huge scalps like City and Leicester at home and Everton away, we only beat them by one both times also). We probably thought we would see a similar Norwich which Gilmour would have defiently benefited from regardless of results.

This Norwich however are a parody so with that in mind I do agree with the sentiments to recall him, maybe send him on the continent.

The problem is that they have made no attempt to give themselves a chance to stay in the division. Content to get promoted, accept relegation and live off parachute payments.

Not arguing on that but I still think he would have got something out of being at 19/20 Norwich regardless (similar to how Gallagher got a lot out of being at WBA despite their poor results) and given they have the same manager I can't blame the club for thinking they would have had at the very least a competitive edge again (even if lack of quality saw to them most weeks).

This Norwich look second only to Derby 07/08, was Buendia really that huge a difference for them?

Would be all for recalling him if he stays on the bench for this Norwich side.

Problem is there is no room for him in midfield here either at the moment.

Somewhere in French league maybe?

He's better than Guendouzi who's smashing it there.

(I say this having watched Norwich maybe twice this season before today):

I suppose after two clean sheets in Norwich's last two games it's possible that Farke felt vindicated in his decision to drop Gilmour and switch to a back three. That said, these two games were against Brighton and Burnley, who are hardly renowned for being prolific.

What I imagine appeared to be a bigger issue was that they had (and still have) scored one goal in all competitions since the end of August. That said, it still doesn't excuse their openness and lack of coherence off the ball this afternoon. Such a heavy defeat and such an incompetent performance must have a terrible effect on team confidence and morale.

Their next game is against Leeds. Win that, and they're only two points behind them. Lose... I wonder whether they'll already be planning for next season's promotion push.

Hopefully the club are working on a loan club to loan him too in January. Currently rotting in the bench for Norwich so he should be recalled.

But a new loan needs to be arranged as he's even further from the XI here now then when he left.

Billy on the bench again today against Leeds...Farke has said in the German press that he's not here to develop players for other teams...Billy needs to come back in January and stay with us...Kante needs back up especially if we go deep in the cups...
