July 30, 20223 yr Broja getting a hammering for that 3yd miss - being spun that he was "hauled off" at half time

July 30, 20223 yr The numnuts suggesting that needed to remember it was his first minutes of pre season, back from injury, and he is still being detoxed from his time on the south coast, right @Munkworth?
July 30, 20223 yr It's much more likely the plan was for him to play 45 minutes, I thought he did well and showed great movement and intelligence. Shame there wasn't a goal but he showed that he definitely deserves a chance with us.

July 30, 20223 yr Three things: 1. Controlled a football. 2. Headed a football. 3. Was quite tall. That makes him a guaranteed starter ahead of Werner.

August 1, 20223 yr Nice to see Broja was in the #39 shirt for the friendly against Udinese B. That number hasn't been used since Nicolas Anelka wore it ... fingers crossed Armando turns out to be as good for us as Anelka was, albeit without any penalty misses in major finals ... 🙂
August 2, 20223 yr I notice that all the noise around Broja has died down , hope this means he's staying and being given a chance . If he fails nobody can say the club didn't try or invest in our youth .✌️

Some were claiming only a couple of weeks ago that Tuchel had already "integrated" Gallagher into his starting lineup. That obviously isn't the case yet. I'm sure if Gilmour gets moved on in this window some will be saying he didn't take his "chance" to impress in pre-season when he has had, what, all of 34 minutes as a late sub in the last two games.

Pre-season isn't just the games though, Tuchel and his staff will have watched him train for weeks

They all got more pre-season minutes. Must have impressed in training or perhaps they are part of TT plans for the new season?

August 5, 20223 yr Has taken squad number 18, and was mentioned in the press conference as being part of the squad, so looks like he's staying this year. Hopefully gets a good amount of chances.

You mean, the unknown quantity, the young guy who I haven't seen play much but might have genuine potential in a position we are desperately short in. Or the known quantity who has been here forever and never looked good enough?
August 6, 20223 yr https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-injuries-barkley-broja-werner-27647635 The Albanian international had been suffering with an ankle injury of late after landing on it awkwardly during a training session last month, although he featured in a Chelsea XI fixture against Udinese last weekend as the Blues won 2-0, but was pulled off at half-time and could still be a doubt for this weekend. Hope the guy will soon be fit and can help the team. Today it would be good if he can come into the game from the bench.

Or the known quantity who has been here forever and never looked good enough? First I have to remove that picture, before I get a seizure. Now that is out of the way... What kind of a team would make a decision on a young player based on three weeks off pre-season performances, where all the focus is on laying the physical foundation for the up-coming season, cause some fans have the patience of a three year old. Meanwhile you already know you want to sell these other guys, so you showcase them a little, so some lower level teams might make a sufficient offer to generate a transfer fee and get the salaries off your books. If you want to see what Broja can do at this level, you can watch him play for Southampton last season not Minnesota United or El Pumas.
August 10, 20223 yr So Broja seems to be the last real striker remaining. Probably he will play a lot until he gets an injury. And then we are screwed.
