Timo Werner

I think far too many Chelsea fans have given up on this guy. Yes he went through a very frustrating spell of always being offside and frequently blowing opportunities on goal. However I think this was just form / confidence, the runs he makes, the pressing, the work rate, the way he stretches a team, if he could just sort out his end product he would be a nightmare for the opposition to defend against. We are seeing a glimmer of hope now, let's hope that continues and he shows us what he is really capable of.

I think we should move him on if we can at season's end though his latest spell where like you say his form or desire has improved is nice to see.

He’s like a faster Salah, with 15% of his end product

The comparison with Diaz did make me think, damn I really miss having a proper winger at Chelsea. Who was the last proper winger we had? Pedro?

A winger who can actually beat players, cross and score. If we had a good winger like Robben, Joe Cole instead of Werner, I suspect we’d be doing a lot better.

We need to sign wingers. I know Hudson Odoi is one but let’s be honest, he’s not good enough.

Spot on Dan. I made the initial comparison with Diaz because, from what I have seen, he plays a very similar role to Werner. Spends a lot of time out wide but likes to cut in and attack the box. Very impressed with him so far. Technically very good, especially in dribbling. Has the aggresive mindset to go at and go past defenders without a second thought and looks decent in the air too. Unfortunately, looks like Klopp has picked up another attacking gem.

Totally agree with your view on CHO too.

Willian.

Pedro is not a winger, more of a forward

I agree that we desperately need player who can beat other one on one. The complicated part is  with front 3 of mount, havertz + somebody we need that somebody to also offer threat going behind.

Player like hazard is good one on one but does not offer behind run threat, whereas player like pedro is probably not as good at one on one but better at making off the ball run.

In perfect world we sign mbappe this summer and we are good. In more relistic world which what I expected when we signed werner is to rotate werner with somebody, when we played city/pool play werner, if we play some other team just play mr dribbler, of course this also depend on player form

He played 50+ games last season and had a terrible time as a striker.

Maybe the fact that he came in at the later half of the season now helped him as he’s a bit more fresh, I think that he has a place in our system due to his work rate but as it stands he isn’t going to be a star player.

The club shouldn't really be paying an attacker 250kpw who's best attribute is off the ball.

Players who's best attributes are on the ball don't make it very far. If you don't have good movement you're piss easy to handle even if you're the most talented player in the world.

That said I don't think Werner is a 250k a week player but I don't understand the playing down of off the ball stuff given the vast majority of a players match is played out of possesion. Look how much just having one player with sh*t movement (Lukaku) crippled us.

Right but I would expect an attacker who is on 250k a week to have an element of composure on the ball vs the clown show we've seen from Werner in front of net and tight areas the past 2 seasons.

Despite his recent improvement id still sell him. Give me Broja over him all day long.

How I feel as well Jack.

Love that he is working hard for the team, that alone gets him in ahead of Lukaku. Glad he got his goal deserved that bit of good fortune for his effort, but still is not good enough from a technical viewpoint particularly his first touch in tight spaces and we saw examples of it again last night, one being the pass he tried to gather up from Mount in the box. Had one show-reel moment when he slalomed across the middle of the pitch past two or three players to keep possession.

Well broja instead of lukaku for me.

I'd then like an upgrade on pulisic and ziyech before Werner. Werner is a starting front 3 currently based on form and ability.

Werner is not an out and out striker anymore for us.

Mount and havertz are the only current attacking players I'd see in our team in 2-3 years time.

Not letting his 8 months of terrible form sway my perception after a couple good weeks. Never making that mistake again.

Needs to be sold in my opinion. Going to be some quality attacking wingers in the market by the looks of it and we should take advantage.

I'd keep him. Just replace Lukaku with Broja. Havertz starts in that central most games going forward anyway.

Yeah it´s not really rocket science.

1. Broja and Gallagher come in.

2. Rudiger must stay.

3. I´d also keep Christensen, but he might be gone already. Hard to tell, where his head is. He´s always been a confidence player, so it could just be the uncertainty of the contract situation. I think he would regain his form quickly.

4. Bring back Emerson for the LB back-up position.

5. Sell Lukaku to Inter for €20-25M. They can pay his big wages with the €70M transfer profit. Just own it. You f***** up.

6. Sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton as a new CB/LB with that money.

7. Sign Declan Rice.

Those are things that can be accomplished in the short term by new ownership and the net spend is reasonable, but the big signing of Rice shows your intend to the fanbase.

                                                          Mendy/Kepa

James/Azpi - Rudiger/Chalobah - Silva/Christensen - Cuccurella/Sarr - Chilwell/Emerson

                                           Rice/Gallagher/Jorginho - Kovacic/Kante/RLC

                                           Mount/Ziyech - Havertz/Broja - Werner/Pulisic
