Bayern Munich (3) vs (0) Chelsea 08/08/20, 20:00 GMT

Featured Replies

So no Pulisic, no Captain and a few other doubts (RLC, Willian, Kante etc)

Who should we play for this dead rubber? Who are we allowed to select from the youth and formerly loaned players?

How about a mix of youngsters with some of our first team players (if allowed).

Not to be Debbie downer... but, I have the fear about this game. I think Bayern are going to absolutely pump us. We’ve lost our best defender and our best attacker in the same game. Kante shouldn’t be risked IMO. Save him for next season. I think we just have to play to keep the score down which makes me sick to say.

Willy

James - Tomori - Christensen - Zouma - Alonso

Kovacic RLC Mount

CHO - Willian (if fit) Tino maybe if not

Abraham.

I would write this game off and send the reserves. Any other season, and I would never say that, even if we were 3-0 down, but this isn't like any other ordinary season. Once this game is over, we will be pretty much one month off starting the new season, and I don't want us getting any more injuries before then.

Even if we were to turn this around, I really don't want the teams focus to be on this competition when the new season is right around the corner. I want us to be as mentally and physically prepared as the other teams.

Also, I wasn't even thinking past the F.A Cup final, I have pretty much mentally checked out when it comes to the rest of the season.

Bayern have won every single game since they beat us 3-0, pre and post lockdown. As icky as it is to say I think there would be no pressure in throwing this game, from the media and from the Chelsea hierarchy.

For me:
Kepa - In hopes to boost his value, but if negotiations are in progress maybe leave him out, though GK rarely get injured in matches
James Christensen Tomori Alonso
Barkley Jorginho Kovacic
CHO Tammy Emerson

Ah Tino and Broja. I forgot about them. Yes they should start.

Azpilicueta that is our best defender is injured.

Pulisic that has been our best attacker since the break is injured.

Kante and Willian have been injured and not really game ready so they are both raw.

I can honestly say that there is no way that we can compete against Bayern in this state, 0 chance of getting anything out of this game...putting up lineups is pretty pointless, we don't even have that many options anyway, there will be no big surprises.

Whoever is fit and willing could play this game, I reckon.  It's another game we could do without, I reckon it will end in a bore draw since we dont have best players to contest, and they just want conserve their energy for the next game.

Going to be an interesting game, seeing as we are struggling with injuries and suspensions (shades of 2012 !!!)

3 of our 4 wingers are crocked (Pulisic, Pedro, Willian)

In midfield, our only fit or available options as of today are Kovacic, Barkley, Mount. Don't really see the point of risking Kante. Jorginho suspended. Gilmour and RLC crocked.

In defence, Alonso is suspended, and Dave is injured, so Emerson and James are our fullbacks basically ...

The only formation I can realistically see us fielding is 5-3-2 ... (or call it 3-5-2 in attack)

The bench is going to be very thin ... unless we are allowed to name a load of academy players ?

Kepa against Lewandowski, Gnabry and Coman ???

Going to be hard to get anything but here is what I'd go with.

Willy, James, Zouma, Rudiger, Emerson, Kante, Kovacic, Barkley, Mount, Willian, Giroud.

No point risking kante. The hamstring injuries have shown that the players are running on empty with lampard refusing to rotate during this cramped up period even though it is understandable. I don't care about the result in this game as long as we don't get any new injuries. Absolutely gutted for azpi and pulisic . I just pray it is a strained hamstring and not a torn one because that will take months to heal.

Don't think I'll watch it, season is over as far as I'm concerned. Don't need to watch us get dicked again.

Haha thanks Zeta. I laughed at that one.

I forgot about the band of Alonso and Jorgi too. Well then.

Just put the kids, reserves and B-team.

We don't need anymore injuries to key players

I actually forgot Alonso and Jorginho are both suspended for this game as well haha. I’d definitely just send the youth.

Absolutely not!

You never wave the white flag while there's still technically a chance no matter how small, it goes against the fabric of this club in literally every sense and could have disastrous implications to team morale and mentality going forward. Imagine if we play a scratch side Bayern have a shocker and we win 1-0 on the night? We will forever kick ourselves knowing we may actually have done it if we took the game seriously.

With the team we have available for this it will be up there with one of the biggest European upsets ever (certainly between two big clubs) if we turn this round, but flying to Bavaria with any other intention than to try and achieve the (next to) impossible will be completely and utterly unacceptable.

It’s not about waving the white flag, it’s about preparing for next season which could be one of our most exciting in years.

Our spending so far has been excellent and we do not want to risk anymore players for a game we have absolutely no chance of progressing. We have too many people out to overturn the deficit therefore it’s about containment and preparation.

I would start a decent enough team however anyone carrying any form of knock would not be risked. Kante would not be risked either.

No chance I'd play the youth here and I doubt Franks pride will allow him to do so. It's a CL game in the knockout stages after all.

So I say play the strongest squad available as another benchmark against Bayern. We got a reality check the first time around and won't go through obviously, but let's at least end the season on a positive note and with a result in Munich.

Hard game for Frank to prepare a team for. The amount of games over a very short period is already starting to have an effect on the squad and a few will no doubt no be flagged 'red' by the medical team. No risks can be taken with any player who is carrying a knock with the new season only being just over a month away. A good game to put a few in the shop window and to see just how good the likes of Bate and Maatsen are. We can be competitive without being stupid and cocking up the news 12 months for what is probably a dead rubber to us.

I think we should play the best team we have and make things as difficult as possible for BM. That means leaving Kepa, Rudiger, Jorginho and Christensen on the bench.

But then again maybe they should be punished for being crap and made to play this game, tell them their worthless scum and send them out on the pitch Frankie.

In any case it should be a routine win for Bayern but since they are Bayern they play every game to prove themselves so they will definitely want to humiliate us, I don't want to watch it either...
