Being linked with Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid tonight as an option if we can't get Rice.

£45m release clause.

Lamps clearly knows we need a proper DM.

Would be a nice get, but I don't see it happening even without Rice.

I thought Partey was more of a Kante type player than an actual DM?

Good player but not sure if he's what we need.

Yep he's use to playing in a 2 man midfield for a team who play more on the counter, would be deja vu if he came here.

He’s a player. I’m all for it.

It feels more like his agent is just trying to drum up business. New contract or a better deal with Arsenal. Who knows.

Or it’s us leaking interest in Partey to get West Ham reduce the price for Rice.

I’d be happy with Partey or Rice, don’t have a preference.

Very similar to Kovacic and Kante, but i suppose he is more capable of holding his position as he usually plays next to Saul who gets forward more. 

He isnt the exact type of player i thought we would be going for considering he is supposedly a Rice alternative, but i would say he is more suited to play as the deepest midfielder than Jorginho, Kante, and Kovacic. 

Athletic, great on the ball with both his dribbling, technique, and passing range. Defensively he is very capable, and he also has a decent shot on him aswell.

I would be for this signing, even though im not 100% convinved he is the missing piece of the jigsaw. 

Would be funny to piss off the arsenal fans aswell.

He'd add even more muscle and grit to this team

Would definitely prefer to get Partey to Rice, for 2 reasons:

1) Partey is a better player than Rice
2) Watch Arsenal fans cry

If Chelsea think Rice is the answer, then you pass on anyone else and get Rice. Maybe not this window, but January or next summer.

I was really impressed with Bakary Soumaré. I’d personally prefer to bring him in if he were similarly priced to Partey. Although I have some question marks over Rice, I’m a firm believer in a manager being able to bring in the players he chooses so Rice will be my first choice as long as he is Lampards.

 

We can certainly trigger his release and no need to negotiate if we want him he is there and in the price range, the question is if we want him or not and more likely if anyone will take Jorginho

If the club were going to sell Kante, it likely would have been done already.

Went super quiet on that front, didn’t it? It seemed likely we would sign Soumare ahead of last January’s window.

Yeah and I got totally sucked into the hype haha! Really expected to see him make the move. Certainly seems like if we ever were really interested that we no longer are. 

Our midfield is so much ahead of Arsenal even if they sign him.

If he carries his Athletico form over, Arsenal have a real game changer here, this guy is class in that DM position 

Yeah we’ve obviously had a great window, but fair to say arsenal and spurs have done far more than I anticipated. Could be a very interesting season. 

The big positive is we’ve signed young talent mostly so have a long time to build this squad up. Arsenal and spurs squads are more about the now with players at their peak.
