Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

Featured Replies

We are one point off Liverpool. Lets cool our heads. We are not winning the league this season. That was pretty sure before it even started. Tuchel has said a couple of times he doesn't know what this team is capable of. He didn't know whether it is strong or has potential or will be challenging on every front. For me that was very honest talk and I love our manager to be honest.

Sack him, I dont see any evidence as to how he can change things and turn things around, or if he is even willing to try. Our decline in the past 7 or 8 months is staggering in every way, and if he claims this is because we lost 2 wing backs to injury for a while then thats even more worrying that he had no answers to that decline, with a squad that he had recently won the Champions league with.

2 wing backs for a while?

How about both wing backs. Kante for 60% of the season. Kovacic for 30%. James. Mount. Havertz. Lukaku. Ziyech. Christensen, plus a bunch of others suffered multiple injuries.

This is pulled from a post of mine on another forum:

Games missed:

James - 17
Chilwell - most of the season
Christensen - 9
Kante - 12
Kovacic - 11
Pulisic - 14
Lukaku - 9
Werner - 10

and more

And these are just the games missed, not counting the times we were forced to rush them back to warm the bench because we were short of options. We had more significant injuries and club turmoil than Liverpool had with a stronger squad and settled team the previous year. And we finished in a higher league position with more points. No one called for Klopp's head.

Now we are are few games in with a rushed window and squad upheaval, and some are spouting dross about time running out. I have faith (and hope) that the new board are not as moronic as the old and some of our fanbase.

Exactly, my point earlier in the thread, we need to lower our expectations for a while.

we actually look very good at home

We really dont look very good at home. He has the one of the worst league home record of any manager since Roman arrived, if not actually the worst at 48% wins.

So were morons now if we dont agree with your opinion, is that how this goes? Back Tuchel or I`m a moron?

I mean.... at least you won't be alone. 😄

But in all seriousness, we know what the definition of insanity is... Even the poll in the original post has a caveat - (at least until the world cup)...ridiculous. If we are going to back the manager, we should do it properly - which seems to be happening. The list of Chelsea managers sacked too soon is almost as long as my...leg.

Great post !

You can see already, the Premier league seems far mor competitive this season, unless your Man City, in which teams are just gonna get Haalanded

wtf we ain’t prioritised a top striker is beyond my fathomability, Score goals win games……

I like Tuchel and think he deserves to be backed based on his overall results for us in the 20 months he's been here, when he came here nobody thought we would be challenging for the Champions League in this season, but he and his staff revitalised our team and made us win the title on merit. Last year we had an overall good league campaign with the circumstances in mind, won the Super Cup & CWC, reached both national cup finals, where unlucky to lose both on penalties, imo we should've won the league cup on merit but didn't because of bad refereeing & our incapability to take our chances, plus in the Champions League we were eliminated because of individual mistakes.

I am critical of him too and think that he has to improve certain aspects of his management, like player assessment, mental preparation of the players, ingame management, player selections, squad management and our playing style.

In his time here so far he has proven that he can make us a competitive team, I don't think sacking him because we have a bad phase at the moment would solve our problems at all and am glad to see that the majority here think so too.

And now it's become a stick to beat him with for some.

In a twisted way it may have been better for Tuchel if he didn't set the bar so extremely high to begin with. No other manager would have won the Champions League with that squad.

Tuchel did so well that the only stick the complainers had to beat him with for a while was that he didn't play some obscure youngsters enough. Some have very clearly had it out for him since he stepped foot into the club though and i'd almost applaud them for their persistance but happy to see they are in a solid minority.

100M+ on 2 CDs, with another one allegedly coming next year, that should have the Central defence sorted. Tidy up the back, and hopefully a MF reinforcement to make us harder to beat, a striker in to add some firepower. Boehly definitely backs Tuchel in the transfer market, it's not perfect but most managers won't get this kind of support. Now it's up to Tuchel to steady the ship and start getting results from this weekend. I think players are getting too comfortable, need to start dropping players for not performing.

Who else did we sack too soon?

It would be a shorter list if we asked who wasn't sacked too soon. Under Abramovich, the only sackings I wholeheartedly agreed with in terms of timing were probably AVB, Scholari, and the waiter (I'm excluding interims of course). I felt Sarri left too soon but that was probably as mutually consented as it gets.

Name one manager in the last 10 years who was sacked too soon?

Lampard? Jose? Conte?

I'd argue lampard was right, Jose was very right and Conte actually sacked too late as we fannied about for ages when it was clear he hated being here.
