Real Madrid v Chelsea (CL Semi-Final 1st leg) Tue 27th Apr 2021 20:00 GMT

If Chelsea plays a similar next time, I think the game is crying out for Tammy or Giroud. Werner does test the back line with speed, but it feels like we can burn them on the wings and then need we need a striker to bury the cross.

I do not think any of us would have been unhappy with this result before kick off.

Really good team performance. Really good.

Players did us proud in the main today, Kante was brilliant.

With the game the way it was though sadly I feel quite disappointed as Real have every chance to go through because we let them off the hook.

Timo let us down badly, again. As expected Havertz offer no threat after coming on neither. Sorry @Gol15. One area TT got badly wrong, even Dave did better than what a lot of us expected.

How poorly must TT think of Giroud and Tammy when he prefers those two to them?

Real are still in this tie, but this is a good result. We cannot afford to waste chances at the bridge like we did today though. Cause Benzema showed their quality in finishing. Him, Vincius, Hazard et al need only a sniff and we will get hit on away goals.

If he had started the game instead of Werner... At least he would have taken that header that Werner couldn't reach in the first half, while the game was still fresh, Kai isn't as wasteful as Timo.

Excellent result, that could have been better

Controlled play throughout

The Kante twins  triplets were all over the pitch

Mount showed on the biggest stage that he is going to be serious player

Our back three on the whole weren't troubled...that said a world class finish by Benzema

It was nice to watch us in an away CL semi and we haven't just to stop the opponents ..we took the game to them first half and deserved better

Lots to play for second leg the tie is still very much in the balance but we have to feel confident on what we have seen tonight

Well done TT

Well managed. Credit to Tuchel. He got one over Zidane for 25 mins or so. Shame we couldn't take advantage.

Kante was immense. Literally everywhere. Always saves his best for the big nights.

I think tonight we saw the difference between winning the European Cup and being a contender. In the big moments you need to be excellent. Werner's miss, loose marking at a corner. Those are the little things that make a difference. Tonight was okay but we could have won the tie.

We know painfully from Liverpool's ghost goal, the penalty losses, the Iniesta last minute goal that the margins at this level are so fine. I hope those errors don't bite us in the second leg.

We sucker punched them but we didn't deliver the finishing blow. Now they'll be switched on from the start.

Need to keep the high tempo. Kroos and Modric couldn't live with Kante and their defence had to park the bus towards the end.

I can say wholeheartedly that our side belongs in the CL. If only we had a midfielder that can score from range and a striker that can score half chances.

Amazing to say that we could have won at Madrid. We had good chances, we played so strong and so good in the first half.

Second half was very tactically by both teams, no one wanted to concede so players had to be more creative.

Big game next week, I'm fully confident in this one. Proud of the team for today's performance. COME ON CHELS!!!

Beginning of the game I would have taken 1-1.  Madrids defense was in shambles the first 20 minutes.  Should have been at least 2-0..there was space everywhere!.....Madrid settled into the game and they were the better team in the 2nd half but it was cagey.

Job half done, although I think we all feel it couldve been a bigger foot in the final after that opening half half hour.

Kante was absolutely majestic, everyone else was a 7/8 bar werner who really shouldnt start 2nd leg, and Chilwell who seemed to panic a little at times.

Important to be ahead in the tie going into the home game, because if Madrid get agead at any point in this tie, we are going to find it extremely difficult to score, especially if Ramos is back next week.

I wouldn't even have Werner on the bench next week.

I literally can't believe it. He's literally got the entire goal to aim at.

He's by a massive distance the worst finisher I have ever seen at the club. Morata was very, very bad himself but Werner is just at a different level completely.

Absolute done with him.

Good performance, good result. It could have better had wr used our exellent couple of chanches. I loved to watch the dominance after our three changes.

Will take that any day of the week.

Incredibly impressed with Tuchels gameplan yet again. Nothing short of immense and while the result is good it should have been even better.

Yep, we should have won that on the overall balance of play and the chances we had in the first half but will take 1-1.

Some great performances tonight, particularly Kante, Mount and Silva. Great from TT as well tonight. Drilled the team and set them up perfectly and then when we started to struggle, made the 3 changes at the right time.

Gonna be some second leg - just hope my nerves can stand it....................!

Should be Tammy in the second leg. He has pace and is a much better finisher. If Madrid push on and we can counter Tammy is the best option.

Good performance and a positive result. Shame we couldn't score another one as we've certainly deserved it, but as many of you already said I would have also happily taken 1-1 before the game.

Kante or Toni MOTM, both of them were outstanding.

I thought his miss against Northern Macedonia was much worse , but yes. His finishing and first touch are atrocious.

Mad ain’t it, a 1-1 draw away to RM in the CL semi and I feel a little disappointed?

Then I thought, ‘if only we had a genuine 25+ goals a season striker’ - thought about it some more and realised we’ve got this far without one, we are a home leg win away from a CL final, are already in the FA cup final , looking ok for a top 4 finish - so the only difference a 25+ goal striker would make, is less anxiety and stress for us fans

He seems to find new ways to outdo himself time and time again.

Even me, one of his biggest critics on here, was of my seat when Christian placed that header perfectly because it was as simple as his goal vs West ham so it has to be in right. I believed in him.

"Yessss" was exiting my mouth when I saw, in shock and horror, the ball bounce off Tibo...

Should play Kleansheet Kepa in goal...

I find Kepa too jittery. Under any pressure he tends to lose his head completely. I stick with Mendy.
