Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Lukaku is a fraud, the amount of big money moves he has made in his career should be a crime. It makes me angry that somebody who can't even do the basics like control a football can make it to this level. I can control a football better than him, and I'm not even boasting. He's that bad at it that I expect somebody who has never kicked a football in their life to do a better job of it.

I was hoping now Roman has gone we might rid ourselves of the #9 curse. Unfortunately it looks like it may only applies to players who have been purchased before RA left.

He’s sh*t. 100 f*cking million, for that?

I 100% believe I was more proficient in the air, Havz constantly showing him how big men should be in the air Dominant, Even Torres and definitely Morata, far superior than our trier of the moment..

Can we sell him this summer? I mean, obviously we should but can we?

I am struggling to see any team pay what we'll demand for him and his wages but the only thing that makes me slightly optimistic is that he will be desperate to leave. Well and truly displaced by Havertz and Lukaku is not going to accept being an bench player for any prolonged period of time.

It's not just Lukaku to be fair. In addition to him I think we need to look to shift Werner, Pulisic and Hudson Odoi as well. If we can get £150 million for that quartet we need to be happy with that and reinvest.

Could've some positive vibes around him, but the opposite happened.

I was happy when Tuchel put him on and it worked for him, he got his chances but a striker on his level must SCORE these...

So disappointing....

As Roman has written off ‘the debt’ why couldn’t the new owners just get rid of all the sh*t players we have, if necessary give them away. Someone like Lukaku is just a liability 1/2 million a week beggar’s belief. Bring back our decent loan outs let TT have a good look then back him with the transfers he needs.

We should always think twice/three times before buying any players that look good in the Italian league. It may have worked in the 90s but now you cannot trust the quality it takes to look good in that league.

This is why I don't want us to go anywhere near Dybala, even for a free transfer. He's played his whole career in Serie A and has been pretty average of late. I'm almost certain he would struggle with us.

A couple of months ago I would have said I think we’ll keep him next season and give him more time but I genuinely think he’s off now and we’ll just have to take a big hit, probably a loan with option to buy type deal.

At the end of the day no matter what we say it will be up to the new owners, they might not want to take a small amount to get rid if him, chelsea have always let players go if they don't want to be here, but that might change with new owners.

If he scores a few in the league it would be a massive help for our top 4 finish... Our key players look out of shape and Lukaku has been on the bench mostly so he should be fresh enough to contribute a bit...

I take your point @Gol15 given how nobody but Havertz have offered any goal threat up from of late, save from the times CP pops up. Could try a run of games of a front two of Kai and Rom. Could hardly be worse than Wernerm

Tbh as badly as Lukaku has worked out the team have to take some blame as well as the board. You dont sign a player who has been successfully in a specific system that utilities his characteristics and then proceed to play him another system assuming it would work and not play to his strengths.

A professional footballer should be expected to score at least one of those headers let alone a £100m striker, but that's not the point. He's not a target man and when he came on he again pointed to the space for him to run through on goal and we didn't play the ball quick enough centrally for him to run onto. In fact I don't think we did it once.

He was succesful at the start of the season because we actually did play the ball to him on transition.

Because of his build people deceptively assume he's an old fashion number 9 like Oli, but he's more akin to Werner's style a player that likes to run through on goal with the ball. We don't play this style of football and that's why the two continue to struggle.

Neither of those players are trash they just don't suit us, lose their confidence and doubt their abilities it's a self perpetuating cycle. TT never asked for Lukaku he just wanted a 15-20 goals player (either in the league or for the season ns which one). The board offered Rom and TT accepted.

Better risk assessment should have been done for such an outlay it's easy to sit here and blame Lukaku, who with his body language and the interview hasn't helped himself. Sure he should have kept his mouth quiet and he would have had more patience from the faithful, but it doesn't change the fact this was not the match either party really needed.

He should have stayed at Inter if he saw us as a consolation prize for not getting one of the 'big 3'. We should have trusted Havertz who had been blossoming, all we did was slow down his progress and now he's finally picking it back up again. Had we waited a year perhaps we'd be better placed to sign Haaland.

Anyway my point is by all means criticise Lukaku for missing simple chances, berate the transfer but, don't completely blame the guy for not working in our system when he just isn't that player. He could work harder off the ball that's a given but, so many on here knew he would fail and set us back before we even signed him so why couldn't the professionals who it's their job to know this completely fail to see this.

I was optimistic it could work but this was just a fifa signing from the board, yeah he works in a back 3 under Conte so he'll work in a back 3 under Tuchel.
