Anyway my point is by all means criticise Lukaku for missing simple chances, berate the transfer but, don't completely blame the guy for not working in our system when he just isn't that player. He could work harder off the ball that's a given but, so many on here knew he would fail and set us back before we even signed him so why couldn't the professionals who it's their job to know this completely fail to see this.

Not many are criticising him for not suiting our system but missing a header 5 meters from goal without any defender nearby. That's not just down to our system, it's something I'd not expect many strikers in the PL to miss. Just compare the quality and work rate of Benzema and him last Wednesday. Now, we are at fault for making Lukaku a £100m striker, I agree with that.

After last night then surely, surely Havertz has now got that striker position under lock and key.

While Havertz is on form, he still isn't good enough to be that clinical striker we need. We need more from Havertz and I'm not sure if he can go further.

He can be a very good assistant though to our next goalscorer.

Heck the real defenders gave up expecting it to go in. He had time to let it drop for a volley or take a touch if he did not believe he could head it in.

I said before it was as bad a mistake as mendys pass, and just as costly.

Seriously? Kai Havertz is 22 years old, and is already showing signs of potential greatness. Not having a go at you, but if there’s one thing that annoys the life out of me, it’s the way people are so ready to turn on, and even write off young players. We’ve seen it with Chalobah, also 22, and we’re seeing it with Mason Mount, who has not long turned 23. All three players have massive potential.

Contrast the three above with Lukaku, who is not only massively overweight, has the turning circle of a Sherman Tank (no pun, think about it!) who turns 29 next month, who is inarguably a waste of money, waste of time, and a waste of space. I can only hope and pray that he’ll be long gone by the start of next season.

I'm not writing off Havertz. I'm just saying he's an attacking midfielder, not a striker. He should be a very good assistant to the main striker, who has striker instincts.

In no way I want Havertz on the bench for the future, but I'm sorry he cannot hold that striker position. He's not clinical enough. Maybe we can revisit this when he starts being more clinical, but at the moment he is not.

And I strongly disagree with Mount on him being some "superstar". He's average, he hasn't wowed me for long periods ever since he came on to the scene. Like I said in the other thread, he had sparks of brilliance there and there, but so did Willian. So did Alonso. That doesn't mean he will be the best of the best.

Lukaku though, I cannot disagree with you there and I back on what you said 100%.

There is a chasm in class between Havertz and Lukaku.

Havertz does not need to be prolific if he brings others into play and for me he does.

For me the risk is no-one else we have is anywhere near as good, if he gets injured.

Most players don’t get near to being peak till after 24, hence why they are still considered a young player at 23. Havertz possibly is our most natural striker, though will probably continue playing across or just behind the frontline. As I mentioned earlier his movement for the goal the other night was world class, you can’t teach that. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bayern have him earmarked as the replacement for Muller.

I was all for signing Lukaku and thought the club had made the right decision - right profile, age, available, proven etc. I didn’t like him at United but I thought he had matured at Inter and Conte had changed him into an elite striker.

Elite strikers can play in any system and still score goals. Further more, Lukaku hasn’t matured and he’s still the same sulky player that he was. He needs to be loved and be the main man but he needs to know that we don’t do that at Chelsea.

Lukaku was never the right choice for Chelsea. I said it before like others, he is f**king useless. Anyone who just watched the ‘highlights’ from his time in Italy would think differently. He’s taken the piss from day one, he’s lazy, overweight, useless off the ball as well as on it. He’s robbing us blind and doesn’t even want to be here, praising his Italian fans. Absolute f**king arsehole.

Genuinely think we would be better swapping for Chris Wood 🤣🤣🤣

What a sorry state of affairs!

Honestly a traffic cone would be better for the club.

I rescued a traffic cone from the wilderness yesterday at work, if Lukaku is worth £100mil I’m willing to retrieve it for £150mil. Someone let the new owners know please.

If he was humble enough to accept his limitations and focus on making a difference when and where he could (ala Giroud) then I would agree with this statement but unfortunately he's set his own standards.

You can't talk like this if you can't back it up.
