August 13, 20232 yr If you sell him, you're not very clever. Class player imho. Like a couple of his teammates, it really is uphill for him because he kind of likes your club and feel that pressure. Easier for mercenaries to deal with failure and poor results. Bloke probably barely slept all last season. He showed in Palace that he is a good PL player and then some. Probably best as a box-to-box midfielder next to a destroyer and a playmaker, but his broad set of skills should make him decent in most positions. Really wouldn't mind him as part of the Caicedo deal...
August 13, 20232 yr Discussions need to be had. This lad is slowly improving and it’s evident he would die on the pitch for this club. Played the Jorginho role without any fuss and although he made some errors on the ball, he was everywhere. f**k me, we need to keep him.

If we're going 4-3-3 in Christo's absence he's going to surprise many people.
August 13, 20232 yr I'm concerned we might need to sell him. 40m pure FFP profit might be essential. However I'm also confused, why isn't there a bidding war. He'd improve every club outside the top 6. He's worth 50m+ easily. Tottenham and West Ham should be all over him. Edited August 13, 20232 yr by bisright1
August 13, 20232 yr Been very critical of him but he was very good today especially after a shakey start.
August 14, 20232 yr I would absolutely keep Conor. He can provide cover for either Caicedo or Enzo but hopefully he gets more chances to play in a more attacking midfield role. He does tend to weigh in with a few goals too.
August 14, 20232 yr keep him .. he will be our Guti, Fletcher/Park-Ji Sung/Ian Rakitic..etc .. He will improve and improve just give the lad a chance.
August 14, 20232 yr I've said all along that this guy is 'Proper Chels' who shows all the passion you want. Only one game but lets see the opinions of people criticising him to be shown the door in 4 months.
August 14, 20232 yr He needs to stay. His weaker points are outweighed by drive, passion and dedication. You can’t teach that. pröper Chels Edited August 14, 20232 yr by azpi28
August 14, 20232 yr He was good, I've always thought he would be ever since I watched him in the 'palace season. That said if I compared his performance with Bissouma playing for spuds, admittedly against far easier opponents you would probably have to pick Bissouma. Also if we are going to have Gallagher, Lavia, Caicedo never mind Santos for one spot I don't see the point. But what would I know...

I think Gallagher is a different profile than the other players. He could also come on as a sub and really bring some energy. he can play in Caicedo’s spot, in Enzo’s spot and in the number 10 position.

August 14, 20232 yr I hope we don't sell, I really like him cause he has tons of energy and he can also shoot if given the opportunity. Yesterday he made a really good tackle in the second half as the last man running back and he won the ball back in front of our box several times so if we just keep him he might become an all-around midfielder.

August 14, 20232 yr I agree with all of the above, I really don't think we should be considering selling him at this point (and if we do, it should be for around 60m IMO). I don't think he's 100% comfortable playing out from the back against a high-press, but the defensive side of his game was superb yesterday. Caicedo, Enzo, Gallagher would be a really strong midfield against the likes of City and Arsenal. Edited August 14, 20232 yr by Hessleboink
August 14, 20232 yr He often looks like he isn't in control of his own arms and legs half the time, let alone the ball. BUT you can never fault his commitment and work rate and he played well yesterday. I still don't know what to make of him to be honest.

August 14, 20232 yr He is all heart, bursting big blue heart but his technique is limited and but for liverpool not capitalising he made some quite significant errors in the first 35 mins that could have seen the game gone. His second half was good I can't knock that but one good performance doesn't eliminate my concerns. If he's willing to be backup I have no issue but if we get 40-50m offer I think the club will have to sell.
August 14, 20232 yr They all made errors in the first 25 - 30 min's, once they settled down, they all improved. He has grown under Poch, and only time will tell how much he can improve. But in a position nobody would ever consider him for, once settled he did a very good disciplined job, one i didn't think him capable of. He's obviously as keen to learn, as he is at playing.

For the first 55 minutes he looked like the second coming of Bakayoko for me. But he suddenly turned it around in the 55th minute or so and from there on out he was fantastic I thought. May have been his first game ever as a lone DM though so all things considering he did well. If we sign Lavia he's almost certainly going though which is a bit of a shame for me. I'd rather keep Gallagher and develop him over Lavia.
August 14, 20232 yr If anyone needs to be sold for pure profit then that should be Trev. Gallagher on the other hand I think we should keep hold of. We don’t have anyone else in the team with his style, he can be our Milner over the next few years. Lad would try and do a job no matter where we put him. Gives his all 100% of the time, all the time
